My friend Scott Jarvie who was one of the main photographers for the event, you can see some of the behind the scenes of it all in his blog post down below!
jarviestudios.com/blog/2012/03...
For all the shots where the camera was on a pole, we used Contour cameras to get those shots. Check them out.
contour.com/
For the actual pole itself that we hooked the camera to, we used a Go-Scope pole. I bought mine on this website. They make them for GoPro cameras, not Contour cameras, so we had to rig the camera to the pole to make it work.

Find out more about this awesome event in the link below!

As far as making the camera look like it was "flying", I used a glidecam 2000 HD for all those shots. You can check out the exact model on their official website below where you can also buy them, and I don't get paid to say that :)
www.glidecam.com/
As far as a techincal level goes...
This was filmed on...
A Canon 5D Mark II
Canon 5D Mark III
Canon 7D
Canon 60D
Contour Camera
And last but not least, make sure to follow me on twitter and facebook, it's the cool thing to do these days :)

Everyone in this world can celebrate this festival, I'm Indian and I have never seen people saying it can't be celebrated by non Hindu,
The purpose of this festival is to celebrate new season, new friendship, and eliminate the old grudges,
Wish you all a happy holi,
Holi haiiiiii.... Woaahaahhhhhhhhh
I'm a Muslim and I see that this looks amaaaaazing
ByPretzyy is anyone ask you?
is anyone ask what is your believe?
Bro gtfo I'm trying to bring peace ffs
I love people like you
I'm so excited to go to the Krishna temple tomorrow here in Utah!!
Festival of Lights
Festival of Colours
Festival of Flowers
infact there are many more!!!!!!!
Festival of crop is also there.
I was born and raised in India. You probably already know that Holi is a beautiful Indian festival that symbolizes peace, harmony and friendship. It transcends the boundaries of race, religion, financial status, and age.
Can you take this global without commercializing it? As long as the purity and underlying message of Holi is maintained, this would make such an awesome impact on the world. An Indian festival that makes everyone happy and brings a unity among people from all walks of life regardless of who they are and where they came from!! How cool does that sound?
Also, it would be a very good idea to have security for every event.
Well done on the video. Loved the B&W to color transition.
NOW IMAGINE THIS WHOLE IN A COUNTRY ( WITH 1 BILLION POPULATION)! It's gonna happen here in India tomorrow! I'm excited! We not only use colours but also use water in the celebration!
can you give details please! where did this happen?
Suresh Sharma bhai aisa nahi! humare poore desh mein anhi banayi jaati holi? wahi bata raha hoon
Suresh Sharma utah
Well it looks beautiful but it causes so much pollution🙁
Again it is going to be happend here in tomorrow
I'm going to the Holi Festival for the first time in Oceanside and I'm so excited 😃❤️💛💚💙💜
Sarah Tachine share your experiences here. How was it
Do visit India for Holi. So much fun.
Lol me too 😂
@@rishabhbarmecha8410 😂 but carefull about the street holi party .
I want to go to the holi festival so bad. It looks like such a great thing everyone looks happy ^^
I find it funny that some people in this section are saying "Oh you're offending the Hindus".
I'm a born Hindu and NO!! I'm very happy that people are celebrating it. Holi is a joyous festival that's celebrated by people of all religions in India.
Most people who are saying that are closeted religious people who are so afraid that everyone is gonna convert to Hinduism, lol.
I'm American and a lover of all religions that celebrate Love, Joy, Unity and Peace. This looks sooooo much fun, I'm taking my grandson and husband to the one in Vegas in April!!! Hari Krishna, Vishnu, Radha, Laxshmi!!!!!
It is great to be ALIVE....and, as long as these festivals promote harmony and happiness there is nothing wrong in celebrating festivals of any religion!!:)
Nope we don't want to convert anyone and we expect the same. 👍
Proud to be part of culture which spread colours and joy all over the world
It is at the Radha Krishna Temple in Utah.
The colors are made from flour and are non-toxic. The color will come off your clothes completely clean. It's a Hindu Holy festival originated thousands of years ago in India during Lord Krishna's time. Happy Holi !
Bharat - Hindustan - India is the birth place of world's oldest religion known as Sanatan Dharma ( known as Hinduism ). Other religions originated from Hinduism are Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism.
I think its time to say ancient India. Because when you say India it would be unfair to Indus Valley Civilization, many places in Nepal where rishis have mediated and wrote purans, mansarovar and mt kailash which is in Tibet.
Hey bro. It was also present during Prahlad's time. Infact it started as the celebration of the victory of good over evil then.
@@sagespeaks3536 True.
Happy Holi 2020 !
Holi is celebrated much before lord Krishna's time as it dateback to lord Vishnu's narsimha incarnation. So it predates lord Krishna's time as well as lord Rama's time
Anybody who makes comments like in terms of Hindu or Non Hindu should be completely ignored. Holi is festival of happiness and for all humans.
Exactly but Hinduism itself a way of life not a religion bro
Yeah... I am Hindu and my few friends r Muslim we r all making holi.
hinduism is peace.. hinduism is love for others before self..hinduism is acceptance and tolerance.. if you are a hindu and don't believe in this.. then you are not exactly a hindu.
also it pleases my heart to see you people having a good time celebrating holi.. hope you keep doing it.
love and respect for all brothers and sisters of all ethnicity and religions.
yours truly
a proud hindu!
captainobvious caste system?
caste system was established in ancient India which divided people based on their professions so that a certain professional art remains within the family or a certain sect of the society. It also meant that different group of people had specific abilities and hence the society would work like a well oiled machine. The caste system took a turn for the worse when people who had little/no knowledge of this system actually started discriminating between people. Just like any other system, even this system had it's set of faults which came into the picture as centuries passed. Then came a time when India abolished the caste system and in majority parts of India it's almost non-existent now. But i wont deny the fact that it's still present in modern India. But as time passes, I think, even the remaining traces will vanish soon :)
+Zlatan Ibrahimovic Hinduism doesn't allow cast system. people made it on the basis of traditional trade and work. Hinduism just defines four things 1. people with knowledge, 2. people who can protect others ,king, statesman, soldiers, police etc. 3. business invovled people 4. labours . and 4 th one is the piller of any society. this is what it says. I have read the text.
Jayant Priyadarshi this isnt what Hinduism is. Love respect. Go on a retreat and go to temple.
What a joke. Look at india now. Are you saying modi ji is also not a hindu?
so so cool!!
Foriegners: want to play holi.
Me: hides my self from friends in holi😂😂😂😂😂
it may be biggest in USA don't call it world biggest, here in India entire country celebrates holi.
They mean that Holi is the biggest colour festival in the world lol not this one particular gathering in Utah.
There are other colour festivals around the world but none are as big as Holi.
not in south India.
They're referring to Holi in general, it is the world's biggest color party. There are many parties that are themed by color, this being the being the most celebrated.
A Chaurasia South India don't celebrity holi. Gross generalisation.
We celebrate holi every year in our college here in kerala
It may be the biggest in USA, For the biggest is undoubtedly Holi celebrated across India
happy Holi
Parvathy happy holi

Without Hindus world look so boring 😂😂😂
Every day is a festival....so enjoy every day
Yeah .
And clean
@Luigi
not really, it seems you have to leave the house and see the world, there are many other exciting religious events and not only Hindus, there are Christmas, Ramadan, Chinese New Year and others
I've always wanted to do this! looks like sooo much fun! 😁
Love from Pakistan 🎨
Aren't those colors pretty? Why do you label them as Hippies or Non-Hindus? See in India, people of every religion enjoy this festival. In-fact all festivals (Holi, Diwali, Eid, Christmas etc) are celebrated by all religions. India is a Symbol of integrity guys. Every religion teaches celebrate the life. What you see in the news is not real India. HAPPY HOLI to all..!!!
Don't worry, these people aren't real hippies and many of the people saying that are saying it as a joke, not an insult. They do look like a 60s drug concert, but this is actually at the US's largest Hare Krishna (ISKCON) Temple in Utah. I've been there for a Ramayana festival. Probably close to 100% of that crowd are Mormons (The Church of Jesus Christ) and mostly BYU students, so there's no drugs or alcohol or promiscuity going on there. It's truly a bunch of just joyful people being joyful.
These people have enjoyed holi more than I ever have through out my life and me being a hindu 😂
Hare Krishna to all. May this colorful culture last forever. Love you all my friends.
-LOVE from India
love love and only love in Hinduism and india... uniting the world

Holi is a festival of colour. Every human is welcome to enjoy it. Nobody has monopoly over happiness. It is a festival of happiness that comes out in dance forms and colours which shows our inner happiness. Loved the video. Ignore trolls like Ferlesha.
Haven't missed this in 5 years and I won't be missing it tomorrow, so excited!
It's like heaven opening it's paintbox ❤❤
❤ HOPE your life is filled with all the colours of Music & Happiness.
💙 HOPE your life is filled with all the colours of Love & Happiness
Great :) :)
COOL ❤ GREAT 💙
Ahh i love it. It don't matter the religion. The thing that matter the most is the values of the festival you are celebrating. As a hindu, i can proudly say i don't mind people from other religions celebrating any other religions' festive. I will do it and i encourage you to do it. It brings us closer as humans eliminating the gaps and stereotypes.

Happy Holi ❤️💛💙
I love this festival Holi 😍
Make colourfull in ours life Happly and friendly
Holi is a popular ancient Hindu festival, also known as the Festival of Love, the Festival of Colours, or the Festival of Spring. The festival celebrates the eternal and divine love of Radha Krishna
It's amazing!!!
I don't know what the celebration is about for Hindu's, but my opinion is everyone should be allowed to celebrate something like this, it's colour that's being celebrated, so saying that people who aren't Hindu's can't celebrate something like colour that we see everyday and normally take for granted, is stupid, it's like saying "Oh you're an atheist? No Christmas for you." Yes there is a legitimate reason that this is celebrated, but other people who are atheists or follow other religions can still celebrate this, it's a time for family and happiness. (this is my opinion as an atheist)
im already above you bitches, but that's besides the point
Trust me dude, its not Hindus who are telling people not to celebrate it.
...."it's colour that's being celebrated"... um what no lol.
Sara Tansey That's all I hear about this, everyone says it it's about celebrating that, please, so what this about lol. educate me...
Just ignore those who say you ain't allowed to celebrate if you ain't a Hindu. Hinduism recognizes everyone. Many paths to one God. Christian, Muslim, Buddhist or even if you are an atheist, just enjoy the humanity and spirituality.
Beautiful! I want to be there!
HAPPY HOLI
***** I'm a born Hindu and it is COMPLETELY FINE for anyone living anywhere in the world to celebrate Holi.
Holi is NOT a festival exclusive to Hindus only, if you go to India you'd see people of all religions celebrating it. Please do not misrepresent my religion in such strict and narrow-minded way.
I find it interesting that everybody is white, sine this is an Indian festival.
It's just interesting that when I youtube searched this festival this was one of the first videos to pop up. An Indian custom with mostly Caucasian looking people. I'm sure if I searched around more I would find Holi festivals in India with Indian people, but the video with white people is the first one on youtube.
maxy mofoo try searching होली
maxy mofoo Hinduism is for mankind. It is an eternal open faith and as Indians we DO NOT own it. Anyone can take 1% of it or 100% of what it has to offer. Feel free to enjoy festivals. Vasudeva Kutumbukam means that the world is a family. Hinduism is extremely democratic and is very tolerant of other faiths. Some of my closest gurus (spiritual teachers) were white Hindus. Personally race means absolutely nothing to me. I meditate on the Infinite within. I do yoga, we do karma yoga to remind us we are all part of the same thing. This is true bliss. This is why Hinduism has lasted 5,000 years and it will last another 5,000 years. Not through conquest but through realizing oneness. Happy Holi!
chatraish Thank you for the clarification. My bad. Races, and religion can sometimes go hand in hand and I became confused. You are right anyone can be Hindu. A lot of people from India are not even Hindu, and are Islamic or Buddhist, etc.
+maxy mofoo Hinduism is not just religion its more like spiritual science.
Beautiful video!
💗❤💚💜💙💛💚
💙HAPPY HOLII💙 💛💙💜💚💗💚💜
I watch this video every time i feel sad. :)
Every Festiwal of India can amaze you..

For those who love this kind of video, I made one when i was there ! (not as good as devin's one :p )
Come if you wanna see and tell me what you think about it :)
Sacha Luisada Your color run video is cool. I like it, maybe as good as devin's one but with a little bit less equipment. +1 subscriber !
Callofminecrafter I saw his video, it's not good as devin's one but it's cool too :) I watched almost all the videos and i think that he can become famous ahah :p

Perfect, just perfect. I hope I will ever have the oppertunity to do this
Loool what the flip!?!!! Where's the apnay at!? All I see is goray..
Its Holi, beautiful Hindu festival
I so want to go to this someday! This looks so fun!!!
tomorrow is holi
wow!! here in the phil! we have SINULOG festival paint war. but i love this! HOLI!! wwwwoooowwww!
Religious exclusivity pisses me off just as much as people joining in to be cool. (I'm not advocating the commercialism surrounding religious festivals - that is a tragedy but your going to get that in this world- religious or not because people want money). But seriously! Live and let live guys... Who cares if people are having fun!? Just because someone isnt Hindu or Christian etc doesnt mean you cant take part in festivals and enjoy fantastic, happy and amazing human events like these!
Krishna Krish I'm not American. I'm sure everyone takes you seriously with those kind of comments. Well done you
Krishna Krish You are the antithesis of Krishna Krish! You should just try & be a nicer person on some level to use such a screen name. So disrespectful.
Happy holi Jonathan Wilson ....
when the only color you see in the festival of colors is white...
wtf?
As opposed to all Brown in India?
Hahahhaha
@ ferlesha t... Who is a Hindu by the way? The religion we share is "Sanatam Dharma" Which means "Eternal Religion" which doesn't define who is and not Hindu.
Don't at least try to become a bigot like Muslim.
Hear! Hear!
please stop judging all Muslims.
Muslim?????? Don't include muslim here
So wonderful video
Thats nit how you celebrate it... You have to run and throw it at a person with a target in mind
Well I know what i'm doing for my birthday. :D
I would NOT risk it
owing to the holi powder festival fire back in 2015 which claimed the lives of 15 Taiwanese
@@alexanderip1003 i would not go to chinese momo year
I heard they sacrifice thousands of humans
Celebrating others festival is so amazing .. Holy is a festival of colors its really a GO CRAZY WITH COLORS festival..may this spread all over the world.
