  • "When you're a master, you make it look easy...when it looks easy, it can get quite boring to people...when you see guys of marginal ability, they can't get out the way of each other...his style has evolved...he stayed true to the fundamentals," stated world-class trainer Virgil Hunter, who shared his thoughts on retired undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. Check it out!

      @@falsealarmno I feel like he fought many great dangerous fights. I agree some were really close. I mean he had to move up 2 weight classes to fight Oscar at 154lbs and that was a split decision victory. I had Oscar winning until he ran out of gas and Floyd crushed the championship rounds. Floyd vs. Cotto too. Floyd won, but I thought Cotto put in some great work. He busted Floyd's nose.

    For those who don't think Floyd is exciting I'd recommend watching the first 27 fights of his career. He was 27-0 with 20ko which was the better half of his career. In his next 23 fights he only got 7ko because he was already past his prime and was fighting in bigger weight classes against naturally bigger men then he is. Floyd is the best 130lb 135lb 140lb and 147lb fighter of all time. At 154lb he showed the world he could still dominate the bigger men with almost nothing but defense. If you're a fan of greatness then please watch Floyd vs Ghatti & Floyd vs Corrales. Floyd vs Ndou was also a great fight.

      +TJ Waldron I agree. To be honest with you, I can't understand all of these criticisms & innuendos about Floyd's style. He has never claimed to be a brawler, so what's beef about his style? I was never bored by him, simply because its not often you get to see boxing of that quality. But come to think of it, he's had his share of interesting moments -: He was in a war against Cotto, Hatton threw everything at him in their fight, including the kitchen sink, but he couldn't hit Floyd, & Floyd was seriously hurt against Mosely, & especially Corley, & he came back to win. He destroyed guys like Corrales, N'Dou, & Gatti, & even when he dominates with pure boxing, he actually lets fly with meaningful punches quite a bit. Okay, the Pacquiao fight was a stinker, but you can blame Pacquiao & his trainer for that - Pacquiao was hanging back waiting for counterpunching opportunities which never came, or maybe Pacquiao was worried about leaving himself open & becoming a highlight reel for Floyd. Whatever the reason, Manny didn't fight the fight he needed to, to win the fight. Floyd did what he normally does, he wasn't going to change, so it was up to Manny to make the fight. All these trainers who say that if you give Floyd nothing to counter, he's less effective, don't know what they're talking about.

    • @WattUNeed

      +Space Alien ROFL! Ken Porter is not in his prime......nor someone Floyd has to fight. You must be talking about SHAWN Porter. Well Shawn Porter would have used the approach that Andre Berto tried except Berto is more skilled than Shawn and was a former two time world champion....and if you watched the fight of Berto against Floyd and you understand boxing you would realize how effective Berto was in spots against floyd and Floyd changed it up a bit to what he was doing. Do you know what a shotgun jab is? You you understand how effective it can be against a less experienced boxer?
      Do you even know what it is to be shot in boxing?
      Do you even know how Berto managed to KO Josesito Lopez and why?
      If you can even begin to answer those questions then you are somewhat credible in your statements about the fight. Until then you are just a Space Alien to the sport. ROFL!

    • @WattUNeed
      @WattUNeed 8 лет назад +3

      +Space Alien ROFL! You have no game....ROFL! You have no SHAME!
      IV allegations false. USADA shut that down.
      Floyd beat them all.....you salty. Paul Williams himself said Floyd is the KING. He only wanted to test his skills against the very best...Paul Williams said that.
      Paulie was making fun of Manny and salt water healing him....more stupidness which you embrace instead of the fact that he lied.
      Tell me why the Manny of 2008-2009 REFUSED to BE TESTED and the Manny of 2015 willingly accepts. WHO looks suspicious?
      Mayweather is the only boxer to be tested rigourously by any Anti Doping body for so long from 2010 to 2015. The same rigourous testing Shane Mosely complained about....which Mayweather did as well.....the same that Manny did and agreed towards doing.
      USADA has been successful in bringing down the Balco scandal in 2003...it was their labs which were responsible to bring down the case...before USADA such doping was going on rampantly in sports. Shane Mosely was linked to that case....USADA also able to get Lance Armstrong to admit to cheating....USADA was not around before such cheating began...they came on the scene in 2000. Such cheatings began in the late 80's early 90's to the mid-2000's. VADA has come on the scene in 2011 and has had a few false positive tests done.....one such case is the one with Andre Berto who was tested with a FALSE positive and VADA submitted a statement clearing him as the result was due to CONTAMINATION.
      So your claim that Berto is juicing is also FALSE.
      However Pacquiao and his team's inconsistent statements on his injury have been the worst set of BS we have had to put up with including the fact that they are being sued at present for perjury in his statement that he was well on his form but later saying he was not. Bob Arum is trying to smooth the water and all Pacquiao kept on doing is messing it up. PR gone south. No pun intended.

    Man!! I said the same thing about Roy Jones jr. I loved him as an amazing fighter, but he got away with so much because he was so fast and explosive , he didn’t need to practice fundamentals, hence watching him work on the spinning boxing target , showing his defense was way off. Mayweathers defense is smooth , his balance was on point and when using your mind instead brute strength allows you to anticipate what the opponents would do before he did it , and also knowing how to fight through adversity, which Roy didn’t know how to do , hence his ko defeats . Being a trainer myself , I’ve always liked Virgil Hunters training techniques. He’s one of the great trainers ...The problem with fighters these days are , the lack of quality trainers. Everyone who puts on mitts and watches fights believes he’s a great trainer . Or the fighters have people in their corners (yes men/women)but The fighters are training themselves . It’s why old fighters can keep up with most young fighters , hence the old champs contemplating on returning .

    maybe bonehead fake boxing fans will realize this years from now after they stop hating. No one has been talented enough to force Mayweather into a war type fight. It really does mean he IS great and has the "sweet science" figured out like no one else. It's factual. Everyone has lost trying, almost 50 fighters... so who's fault is it? It's not Floyd's. It's just 2 guys in the ring with a ref... it's up to themselves to figure out how to win. But people would slice their wrists before admitting anything positive when it comes to Mayweather. All because he chose to play the role of the villain for entertainment way back right before the Oscar De La Hoya fight and has somewhat kept doing so on purpose... but new comers to the sport don't know about that.

There came a time when Michael Jordan stopped dunking on people. That doesn't make him any less of a legendary basketball player. Gotta say that because I don't hear enough people talk about it. Pros like Anthony Joshua go to Floyd for advice on how to jab.

    Perhaps the most intelligent commentary on boxing that I've heard. Floyd makes it looks easy. He made the dismantling of Canelo look so easy. And he's 100% correct in saying that less skilled fighters can't get out of each other's way. Ward vs. Gatti is the perfect example. Very entertaining to watch for fans, but the truth is that they both were much less skilled than Floyd. Gatti and Ward cannot fight like Floyd because they don't have Floyd's skills. Ward wouldn't lay a glove on Floyd. Floyd would be countering him all night long and would just pot shot him at will. And the same goes for fundamentals. Roy Jones Jr. had superior athletic skills. He was fast and explosive. But, as soon as he started getting older, and he lost his speed, he had nothing to offer. Contrast this to Michael Carbahal. Carbahal has SOLID boxing fundamentals. His hands are always up. He punches properly, and bring his hands right back to his face. He uses his jab, he goes to the body, he has good footwork, good head movement, and he's never off balance. This allowed Carbahal, in the later part of his career, even when he lost some speed, to still hang with Jorge Arce. Not just hang with Arce, but KO him.

    What makes a boring fight is relative to whoever is watching it. You got a lot of guys who just want see two dummies get in the ring and punch each other's lights out.
    Then you have guys who appreciate the true craft of boxing. When you really study boxing a senseless brawl can be a boring affair. I personally like to see skill being displayed.

    Oh I learned this exact same thing when I was a kid I started out I got hired to wash some plastic pipes for a company the owner told me that it was about 2 to 3 weeks worth of work after that he couldn’t promise me anything I worked my ass off without even taking a breath and I finish the job in one day 18 months later I was running the company 24 months later I own my own company I ran my own company for 30 years became a multi millionaire and I could honestly tell you it came from washing some plastic pipes with the sponge and a bottle brush and when I finish that job sweeping the floor afterwards while they were trying to find something else for me to do the owner of the company came up from the big office upstairs stuck out his hand shook my hand and said as long as I’ve got work you’ve got a job I have never seen anyone work like you true story. The other guy they hired to wash pipes have been there for two weeks he was doing two cases of pipes these are plastic pipes a day I finished what they consider three weeks worth of work based on his speed in one day I was the best damn plastic pipe washer he had ever seen and then the best damn floor sweeper he had ever seen this man is speaking knowledge you get a job cleaning the bathroom you clean the bathroom the cleanest it’s ever been the first it’s ever been And if the boss doesn’t give you another chance you go somewhere where they recognize talent

Floyd 'checks' a lot of the boxes, HE DOES ALOT WELL. FYI: On Point about Roy. @Themachinegun Absolutely I've said it all over youtube RJJ was a talented once in a lifetime fighter but he took advantage of his speed and his natural gifts. He'd lead with hooks uppercuts hooks to the body overhands something we never saw, then when he got older and lost speed and reflexes he started getting caught and stopped. Had he been a fundamentally sound fighter he could return to that but sadly he never had that in his bag. I also use Bernard who was slow had little power but was so damn crafty which allowed him to fight at 50…

    Who said Floyd’s fights aren’t exciting?? Who are these fans that can’t appreciate watching boxing at the most elite level? When you watch a chess match you don’t say it’s boring because one opponent may take his time to think during the match- you grow in anticipation and understand a master is at work. Go back to the UFC with that.

  • @AN38385
    @AN38385 2 года назад +1

    The fights are not exciting to those who wanted to see Floyd lose. To those who enjoy boxing and really study the sport, it’s exciting to see someone with that level of skill just totally dismantle someone purely using his skills, preparation, and mental ability to anticipate everything his opponent will do and nullify any strengths their opponent has and do it so seemingly effortlessly. That is also exciting. But again only exciting to those who love and enjoy the sport. It will never be exciting to those who just want to see Floyd lose or get touched up.
