    We could really say footwork in general. Every kid who buys a pair of gloves thinks they can box. Some dudes hit the bag in their garage and even gain lots of power. Hell even an untrained person can throw a haymaker and KO you if you let them..but real skill in boxing is in NOT getting hit and that is through footwork, timing and rhythm of the fight.
    I learned that in my first real boxing gym like 20 years ago. I went from a half ass city sponsored club where the coaches either didn't know or didn't care about real boxing, to a bona fide real boxing gym with a professional trainer and competitive fighters. Instead of just clubbing on each other w.out much technique, everything was technique, footwork, shadow boxing etc.
    At the real gym, for a month straight we did foot work and stepping with the jab. We didn't even strap on gloves much less touch a heavy bag for a month, 100% step n jab , step n angle, hands up, jab the air. To this day, those early months of footwork (followed by every single day footwork, shadow boxing, jump rope) are still some of the best lessons I ever brought away from boxing.

      I’m 25 and want to pick it up as a hobby. I have gloves but can’t afford a cobra bag yet. I’m left handed but I feel better leading with my left foot and jabbing with my left. Guess I have to get used to it

    • @ram0666
      @ram0666 4 года назад +3

      @@HVH777 If your just beginning and your going to use the orthodox stance which is left foot first just make sure you use your left hand to throw a jab. A lot of kids from the street that dont know anything put there strong hand out front and use it to throw power shots. This is a dead give away that they dont know how to box.

    • @ep7077

      Since you live in a right handed world you'll probably feel that way to start. However start stepping and jabbing with your lead right...I know some guys who write, shake, throw with left hand but box orthodox (not sure why) but if you can make SouthPaw work for you , you will never regret it...its difficult to go against a SouthPaw, I know that for sure...hell even holding mitts for Southies is a challenge.
      What's crazy is that you'll train against mostly righty's so when you fight / spar / train with another South Paw it'll throw you off too!PS - about training, if money is an issue, go look for community centers and Youth Boxing programs. They're often run by state or local gov't & they won't usually have big flashy websites that pop up on Google. They're sometimes free for youngsters but even if you're 50 its still cheap like $30 a month. They won't be flashy, but you'll learn what you need. If you happen to live in a small town, check into your nearest big city / medium citiy. You can make it in even once a week to get your technique started then train on your own. Make it work!

    I agree.So many stiffs in boxing.With limited movement.How can trainers not teach someone.Or not reinforce a fighter to jump rope.I dont get that.In the winter,Id jump rope for an hour in my apartment.Or jump rope til' I sweat to go run in the winter.Look at Sugar Ray Leonard,Duran,and Mayweather Jr.Who are all great jump ropers.

    What is really crazy to me is that when Josie Harris died a few days ago I was concerned about Floyd Mayweather's uncle I have no idea why I was concerned about him but I know that was the first thing that came to my mind was that if fluid lost his uncle. To be a low blow to him and then the man was heavy on my mind and then I wake up this morning and he was the first person I wanted to look for and I'll be damned the man is dead this is the same thing that happened with my daughter's father we learned her father died on the internet about his funeral when we were going to move to Texas so we were looking for him so that we can get in touch with him because we had lost contact cuz he had moved and everything we had lost contact and just to find out that he had passed away and his funeral was that day that we searched him we just Googled him and that's how we learned that he passed away she hadn't met her father hadn't had a chance to meet him and he would have loved to baby he wanted to see her so bad I'm just crazy like I've been able unfortunately to Lake be connected to life and death in a special way a unique way and I don't know how to describe it but that's the same thing that I experience with Aaliyah and Gerald Levert Kobe Bryant Gianna Bryant Whitney Houston so many others is just crazy and I'm in just like dis belief. Rest in heaven and rest in peace Rodger Mayweather and Josie Harris may you both be with God

    Rest in peace Rodger. He is missed in Boxing.
    As for Mayweather and how long can he skip, 20 minutes straight is him going stupid fast, doing his double under crosses etc. If Floyd maintained a solid pace but focused on keeping his energy he could go for over an hour maybe two.

      Whaddya mean Stop interviewing him ! Shit, they interviewed Ali, they can interview Roger...This is the game we chose, so whatever comes with it comes with it...it's really that simple, Nobody says it's pretty to look at, but it is what it is, it's the Fight Game, if you can't understand that Stop Watching Fighters.

      If the family and fighter think its ok to talk then its fine. unfortunately some boxers receive more damage than others but why hide them away if they want to try to chat to people.

      Why? If this Man is one of the greatest of all time, and he wants to talk, in all respect, let him talk boxing if he wants. I am pretty sure if he does not want to talk he would say so. And his camp will say no also
