Final Fantasy 12 The Zodiac Age Zeromus Esper
Zeromus is a level 51 Esper boss fight which can be found in the Stilshrine of Miriam after speaking with the Acolyte in Mt Bur-Omisace. Magic is prevented for this one, so bring your strongest team of physical fighters and a bunch of x-potions and phoenix downs.

Final Fantasy 12 was first released way back in 2006 on the PS2. At the time, it was considered somewhat controversial by many Final Fantasy fans due to its departure from traditional FF gameplay. However, it is now looked back on fondly and many would consider Final Fantasy XII to be the best entry in the franchise. In 2007 the International Zodiac edition was released (in Japan only), and this version of the game included a more traditional job-based system and a new battle areana. For this remastered release, these additional changes are being brought to us fans in the West for the first time ever - along with high resolution textures and remastered soundtrack!

You have a gambit for Ally = Stop > Chronos Tear
If you set it up as [Ally Any > chronos tear] It would work for both slow and stop status. Same thing for the esuna spell [ally any > remedy/esuna] would work to cure any status ailments that come up (providing the proper licenses have been obtained for remedy). This also works to combine a lot of curing gambits into a single slot and saves room for other commands/conditions.
And you can dispel Zeromus's buffs with a dispel mote.
dispel motes are a thing, very useful for when he uses haste
My Fran (foebreaker/monk) absolutely went to town on Zeromus, probably did half its health on her own
Will be hell of crazy if they put Zeromus's theme from FF4 instead of usual BGM.
Fuzzyfinger gaming you can use motes in that fight as well so you can use a dispel mote to take off protect and shell.
You can always use a Dispel mote to get rid of Zeromus' buffs.
My recommendation for dealing with the Skellies (if you can't deal with them fast enough) would be to have the Nihopalaoa equipped to someone who has all 3 Remedy Lore licenses. To make said accessory you need:
*The Warmage's Monograph (examine noticeboards 20 or more times and it'll pop up when you next speak to any merchant - buying price is 20,000 gil).
*Bloodstained Necklace x3 - From the Zombies where you fought Adrammelech in the Zertinan Caverns.
*Deaths-Head x2 - From most Skellies although I personally prefer Golmore Jungle (in the Rustling Chapel area after clearing out all enemies and without leaving said area) as a lot of them can spawn and killing a certain number of them causes rare game Grave Lord to appear (quite a strong opponent if you try to kill him early on).
Leo Gem x3 - From any Dinsosaur (the Wild Saurian in the Estersand is the best as you can try to steal it and then run back two zones, into the Yardang Labyrinth, and back fairly quickly and then try again); Thieves Cuffs are useful here. The Bellwyvern in the Tchita Uplands and Cerobi Steppe can also drop them occasionally too.
I personally set up my gambits so that my characters attack only Zeromus so: Foe - Highest Max HP - Attack. Then, the person with the Nihopalaoa and RL3 I use to basically uh...decommission, so to speak, all the available Skellies and this puts them out of action for a good while and prevents Zeromus from spawning more. Having at least one character with the Pheasant Netsuke to double the potency of healing items can also be handy. Just make sure though that you don't use the character that has the Nihopalaoa equipped to heal people, or preferably remove it beforehand. Either way, even though it does require a bit of prep work doing it this way means you won't have much of a problem with the Skellies and if you don't have many/any Remedies to spare you can just use a Chronos Tear to Stop them.
Incidentally this method can help those who are struggling with the King Bomb to overcome it's renew ability as this is the only way to inflict disease on an enemy which prevents the healing process. Unfortunately it can still cast Renew even when under Silence or Reflect.
Thanks for this guide.
I was having a struggle and didn't even consider using my charges to clear the mooks. Once I cleared up the 8 initial mooks, I had my 2 support characters on the boss with an Enemy: Highest HP>Attack. Then I took my Melee and put them on "Enemy: Lowest HP>Attack." The supports healed with X-Potions and whittled the boss down while my Melee would occasionally get in a whack between 1-Shotting the mooks.
Thanks for the upload FuzzFinger! I actually found success by using Ruby Rings. Since I wasn't going to use magic anyway I figured I would let all the spells except Piercing Graviga bounce to the skeletons. It worked kinda well, just got really convoluted at the end. I had to continue to manually attack Zeromus. For some reason my gambit of Foe: Highest MAX HP didn't work. Probably should've went highest level.
You helped me beat the epser under Rabanastre and Exodus and now I'm going for this one
Love this area because it’s a really quick and easy gil grinding spot.
Thank you!! Your gambit setup helped me a lot!!
Thanks for the help! :)
Everyone forget the Gil toss Atk is able to be use in every Esper & Boss Fight. Which helps a lot if you can't deal certain damage.
Yeah and with the gil farming accessory you can get so much money going through trials so throwing 10k gil each time will not be missed.
Also the accessory were it cost gil instead of magic and I didnt use mist.
That is a way around cause u not using magic but gil instead.
In original ps2 game, I wouldn't attempt to fight Zeromus until I reach archades, buy lots of x potions and pheasant netsuke for each party. At least level 45. Cast protect shell haste regen bravery on all party before entering, set gambit attack foe lowest hp (to weed out skeletons) healing wihh x potion is optional but you can choose not to heal but a phoenix down +pheasant netsuke would revive ally to full health (first gambit). Bubble isn't recommended because Zeromus piercing graviga is hp based meaning if you bubble a character the damage is also twice as much
Thanks for your time
Well done, FuzzFinger! This boss was pretty annoying. I actually ran out of X-Potions near the end and had to make use of a Reverse Mote or two.
Yeah its interesting how the Esper fights each have their own special area field that cancels some ability type or causes damage to you.
You can buy them after great crystal bought 50 myself
Bro you can just use ally:any for status ailments.
Add a member that can use the Holy Lance and put Berserk status on them. It's very useful and they can take out the adds in no time!
Thanks fuzz
just throw beserk on your 2 heavy melee/tanks, its definitely a huge risk doing that but i think at level 32 its probably your most viable strategy
I've yet to actually use any of these Espers but I'm getting them all nonetheless
just wondering who you gave what espers to
Can you use Technicks like shads of black to do dark magic damage to him don't know if it works or not
Not sure but it would probably be too unpredictable but it does seem Scathe Motes work fine during the Magic Shield.
i got this thx to your vid
Brill, great job.
Do you have a video where we can equip the right esper to which character?
Hey bud, and any future bud's. With the dual job system its near on impossible to give accurate recommendations. The best job combos can access a ton of islands that espers unlock meaning any recommendations that could be given may be redundant. Eg its not a great idea but knight white mage makes mateus's best use by far completely redundant
Currently stuck on this one he kills my group so fast.
Yeah, I am at level 52 and I had a problem with him. Those dark lords are extreme. I think they respawn slowly after killing the alphabet. I am not a quickening fan but for this fight it seems necessary. I also haven’t been to Giruvegan yet so my weapons are great, but they could be better. With this new zodiac system, I am waiting on purchasing espers on my boards. I have played this game on PS2, PS4 and now the Switch.
I know this don't have to do with this vedio but I have question!!! I put Penelo with Black Mage and I what do know if you thick the Red Battlemage is good for the 2 job?
I think they have some overlap with spells so might be good to keep them on separate characters.
FuzzfingerGaming thx men MBA 😃😃 you Chanel help me allot keep with good job 👍👍👌
this guy was a pain in FF4. im super glad theres references to all the old games lol
What level are his minions ?
Berserk + full Genji + Masamune Basch saves the day on this boss for me...
That's way too overkill. I killed this boss around level 40 with medium grade gear.
I tried to beat him with level at 36 lol, it's impossible. I'll come back later
I know this is old and there are probably very few people playing this game now, but the acolyte simply won't give me the stone. Does anyone know if there is a way this can be fixed? And I'm the very end of the game, so I've already gone through the Stilshrine.
I'm having the exact same issue. Did you ever get a fix?
@@JuiceSOA I'm sure I did get a fix, I just don't remember exactly how. I suspect I just found out I had already done this quest lol
Ok thanks just wanted to know if you could do it
The stone isn't in my inventory and that acolyte won't give it to me. I don't know what happened.
citylife80 Are you trying to get it before doing the Stilshrine of Miriam? If so, you'll need to go through the Stilshrine first, go through the cutscene, then talk to the Acolyte. You should get the Stone of the Condemner at that point.
The same happened to me. I can't find any solution to the problem.
just finished both him and exodus at 32, no elixirs or remedies just hi potions...true masochist attempt
Im all above level 50 but for some reason i can never beat thes guy someone help😣
you are not alone. I cant believe my eyes when i set up everything the same as FF except for a couple differences in weapons and shields because i dont have what he has and i just get slaughtered. This is a hard ass game. I wish he would have showed where he picked up some of those weapons that he has
Bro, do you have access to Cerobi Steppe ? If so, go there and get urself Grand Armor, Grand helm, lordly robe and circlet for your users. Download chest list to make sure you got everything and try again. I killed Zeromus lvl 46 balthier, ashe and vaan.
Thanks a bunch
You're welcome.
FuzzfingerGaming thank you so much. The ruby rings, Phoenix Downs, and X Potions helped out a lot!:-) 👍
I've basically completed the game and am going for the all esters trophy... I've spoken to the acolyte in mt. bur-ominsance but i still never got the stone of the condemner and idk why... HELP!
Maybe you already have it
Same here :/
beat him level 39 hard asf
No problem
I have zermous just got him gave him to my main Ashe
Try it on ps 2 you dont have a ally status ko.u have to revive yourself its a nightmare.
This boss sounds super annoying!
I wish there was a version of this game that removed the quickening system, and adjusted the boss difficulty for the lack of that. I hate trying to do those quickenings, and as a result I hate that it's pretty much necessary for the bonus bosses
Wasn't that hard
