- With the help of our friend Gordon Tarpley, Frank Ippolito shows us how to apply an ultra realistic zombie makeup using off-the-shelf foam latex prosthetics. Here's how to use glues and paint to make a prosthetic look like it's apart of someone's face!

i love these series with Frank! I remember when they announced he was working on something bigger and wont be making as much videos with the Tested crew. So glad to see more of him now a days!

Really amazing to see this process go to work. There have to be some better ways to practice make-up application though without these expensive pieces. This job probably cost over 500 dollars based on what Frank said and looking some stuff up on RBFX. That would be a crazy expensive practice session for each go.

I'm IMPRESSED! It took all the way until the 20 minute marke before Frank decided to brown it up! LUL
*Non-pro tip:* if you're doing quick and dirty SFX makeup, like for a halloween party, and you don't have any nice setting powder like he used in the video, try regular foundation makeup. My girlfriend has a very similar skin tone to me, so I've used her powder foundation to set my face with surprisingly good results. It can be great for wounds, or any appliance that you want to blend out into your natural skin tone. Just make sure it doesn't have any shimmer to it, because that will really ruin your makeup.
I remember having a scary makeup kit that I got for Christmas when I was a kid, it had molds to make zombie type appliances out of powdered gelatin!

If i were Gordon i would have ran some errands in the makeup before taking it off.
I keep wobbling on continuing on with foam latex, although I've been doing it for years. I want to play more with silicon, but it's so damn expensive... but running foam is a PITA. It's extremely finicky, and in the quantities needed for a single facial appliance you're measuring some ingredients in teeny-tiny amounts. There's nothing worse than whipping a batch up and suddenly it goes from liquid to "whump-whump-whump" as the ball of solid rubber on your mixers smacks against the bowl. *sigh*.
if you had an interest in making prosthetic makeup appliances but not apply them, is it still advisable to know how to?

Norm aka captain obvious. Something about him just rubs me wrong. He’s a super smart guy, and I get he’s asking probing questions so we can gain an understanding of this. But it’s like frank says what he’s doing and then norm asks him what he’s doing. For example; Frank says “I’m putting alcohol on the backside of the prosthetic so it can slide and adhere better” and norm says “so, you’re putting on alcohol on the prosthetic. Is that to make it adhere better? Or is that for something else “. It’s almost as if norm doesn’t listen. Lol. And it seems like frank is getting pissed.
But again, I understand why he asks things like that. It’s so we can learn. And I love these videos. But norm just seems like the type of guy that got beat up a lot and maybe still does.
I agree, Norm is always the cringe in any video...
I find it disturbing too. He asks a question and I am like Norm are you even listening he just explained this 5 secs ago.
It allows for more flexibility in the edit. They can cut to a question like that and have Frank answer it, which might be more interesting for the audience than just a stream-of-consciousness approach. I've watched tested from the very beginning and Norm has improved his interview style incredibly over this period - cut the guy a little slack.
I agree with you. Some duplicated questions and answers really makes editing a lot easier, and more vibrant with different angles of shots.
I dont agree, hes the host hes there to have an audience self insert so he can be a bridge for us. Since those videos arent scripted you obviously get some awkward dialogue, but so is the raw nature of this format.
If you really want an highly edited streamlined video than this isnt the place.
I myself never though anybody would think hes a problem until i started reading the comments.

jordub doesn't hair keep on growing for a while after people die anyway? I think they would have some stubble but not people who have trouble getting facil hair
