Jim Carry in the 2000 movie The Grinch. The green contacts he had to wear were so big they covered his whole eyeball. On top of that the fake snow on set would get in his eyes and caused him so much pain that the set brought in a specialist who teaches military training on how to endure pain from torture.
It wasnt the eyes that made them bring in the specialist. It was the claustrophobia Jim felt from being completely encased in the entire costume that made it necessary. He said he felt like he was being buried alive in the costume and make up which triggered his claustrophobia.

The 1939 movie of The Wizard of OZ should always be number on these list. Every cast member was in someway permanently affected by the makeup and even burns to their skin. There are some great videos that do a deep dive into just how horrible the whole cast was treated.
Forced to wear? Not likely. When they sign the contract to play the role it is clearly stated in it if prosthetic make up will be needed or not. Its their choice to accept it or reject the role.
