We do pray directly to Jesus, but sometimes it’s appropriate to ask for the intercession of family and friends.

Yes, people can pray for you but the ultimate recipient is the Father. When Catholics pray for intercession they think that Mary and the Saints have the power to grant it. They don’t, only God does. Jesus taught us how to pray and it didn’t involve His mom or Saints in Heaven. Besides, all believers are Saints not just special people who died.

There are Catholics who only pray to Jesus and take no part in Marian devotions or praying to saints. They have solely a Christ centered faith life. A friend of mine whose always been Catholic and her family after accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior has only a Christ centered life and a daily walk of faith with Jesus. I personally feel it's the only way one should be living a Christ centered life.

After watching this video, it begs the question, why did Paul write to Timothy the following?
“For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.”
    ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5-6‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

There is one mediator, but he also says 'he who hears you hears me.' So, his disciples, us, can speak for Christ and offer our encouragement, our charity and, yes, even our prayers on behalf of Christ and _to_ Christ on behalf of others. If you love your brother, does it detract from the love you have for your father?

@@rhwinner I read the chapter you quoted. How can you possibly think they were talking about prayer? One rule of basic hermeneutics is to read the surrounding verses.
“Now after this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Go; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no money belt, no bag, no shoes; and greet no one on the way. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’ If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they give you; for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not keep moving from house to house. Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you; and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you; yet be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ I say to you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had been performed in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be brought down to Hades! “The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.” The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.”
      ‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:1-19‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
The Lord sent 70 out, this is the mission of binding that Jesus was talking about in Matthew 16, the keys to the kingdom that Roman Catholics grossly take out of context. They had to gather up the Jewish people before the severe judgment in 70AD, the destruction of the temple. This mission was fulfilled when Colossians 1:23 was written, which was about 60AD, about 10 years before the destruction of the temple. This mission had to be done in order to wrap up the Jewish age.

@@urawesome4670 So you are of the opinion that Christ's Body on earth, the Church, does not have the authority delegated by Christ in the gospels, to speak with His authority, to interpret scripture, to forgive sins, to comfort the afflicted, etc? That is a novel idea, certainly at odds with not only Scripture but 2000 years of Sacred Tradition. I wonder if you know of any other Christians who agree with you on this point.

This presentation is incomplete. It will not convince Protestants, the target group.
It does not explain why people should pray to departed saints.
Mr Stapely should have dealt with that matter with a couple of quotes from Scriptures. It could have taken him a few additional sentences. The video presenter should have queried him.
This is the problem with bringing out quickies and with lack of preparation.

Mary is not deity. No matter how much you try to explain this. I will never go to Mary to reach God because the scriptures don't teach that. I will go to The One that died for my sins on a cross. The One And only way to the Father. My lord and savior Yeshua, The Christ, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. I do respect Mary and all other men and women used by God throughout history...but Mary doesn't deserve the glory and honor that only God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit deserve. Wake up people.

There was no biblical truth in this video telling or suggesting believers to pray to dead saints? Jesus says I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the father except through me. If you ask anything in MY name , JESUS, you will receive it, he never tells us to go to someone else to ask something of our heavenly father. I love the point he brought up that we need eachother, yes as a body of Christ we need one another to build eachother up and grow in our faith but his answer did not justify why Catholics pray to dead saints and Mary. Even in Matthew when Jesus is preaching in the temple his followers say your brothers and mother are outside and he says my brothers and mother are those who do the will of my father in heaven. Not telling his people you can ask my mother anything and she will tell me, no Jesus always emphasizes the importance of going to him always for anything.

God is a God of the living, not of the dead, therefore we believe saints are even more alive than us worshipping God and hearing our prayers. Jesus is the ONLY mediator to get to the father, but mother Mary takes us to Jesus just like she interceded in John 2:5
