Hi Rueben. I have owned this bike for a while. Rode it many miles but have not used it to commute. I live in rural Mo. I plan on riding the back roads into work. I don't plan on going over 50 miles per hour. Hoping the lower speeds will add to the longevity. Thanks so much for posting. I rode the bike several hundred miles over a week end. Wish me luck on the valve adjustment.

Sounds like you and I ride about the same. I’ve been looking at one of these myself or the rx4. Thanks for the review.

Check out my final long term review first. If you are looking for a reliable commuting bike; my short answer would be to buy Japanese....I learned the hard way.

@@reubenreports2904 I will. I have an Xr650r sumo and a ninja 250. Both have needed less maintenance and mods to stay running than my Hawk 250. My wife’s 89 XT250 is 3-4 times the quality of the hawk and it’s 34 years old lol. Maybe I’ll just get the Yamaha SCR 900 or a 1st gen vstrom 650. I just want something I’m not so big on. I make most Harley’s look small at 6’3” 290lbs.

Fantastic in-depth report mate 👍, I have been considering the RX3 or as it is marketed in The Philippines the Motorstar XPLORER 250R for a while. I have to admit I was a bit concerned about the reliability question mark. But having said that, and you mentioned this here, in The Philippines if you can commute at 40 - 45 mph you are doing well, traffic is a bit on the heavy side especially in and around Manila. I live in a province outside of Manila but do commute into there quite regularly. Mostly around home I might be lucky to hit 50 mph for a few seconds 😀. Anyway, great video and my mind is made up, I’m going to the local Motorstar dealer here in town and check one out in the metal.

My advice to you is to buy these 5 key upgrades to maximize it's convenience and mpg performance as a commuter bike.
      1) Center stand
      2) NGK spark plug
      3) 13 tooth front sprocket
      4) Good quality Japanese chain
      5) LED headlight and auxiliary lights if needed
Everything else is nice to have but those particular upgrades will maximize convenience, mpg performance, and overall performance of the bike.

@@reubenreports2904 I had already noted these upgrades down, thanks 😊 I admit I was quite surprised that it doesn’t have a centre stand.

The Center Stand on Ruebens M/C was made by CSC, Maybe your dealer has their own for the RX3

@@Craig-MercyG Do you know if the ones in the Philippines are fuel injected like the CSC RX3 or carburetor?
