Find GPS Coordinates Using iPhone & Google Maps

- Today I will show you an easy way to find GPS Coordinates using only your iPhone and Google Maps mobile. You should also be able to use an Android phone to do the same. Normally, when you pull up the Google Maps App on your phone, there is no indication of the actual GPS Coordinates.
I will teach you how to drop a pin on your map and then acquire the coordinates from the dropped pin on the map.
This is also a good way to send your exact location to someone in case you do not know your address.
There are other ways to do this of course with other apps but this is an easy way using free apps.
This is excellent, Steve. Exactly what I was trying to find via the geocaching website, but it ended up being easier to find your solution. I don't have an i-phone, but using my Android I find that the coordinates pop up as soon as I pin. Magic.
I know the other way.
1. Make sure that Location Services is ON.To do that go to Settings -> Privacy->Location Services -> ON
2. In the apps listed under Location Services, find Compass and set to ON or While Using the App
3. Exit Settings
4. Open the Compass app
5. At the bottom you will see name of your place and coordinates. Press and hold on coordinates and "copy" button will appear (you can copy/paste it anywhere). If you want press the coordinates and it will be opened in the Map application directly.
Like if it works for you.
This is GREAT! This is exactly what I was looking for - a way to find coordinates so I can enter them into my GPS when I am not at my computer.

If you open the compass app, it will give your GPS coordinates at the bottom of the screen. If you tap & hold on the coordinates a "copy" button will appear. (You might have to try touching in a couple of different spots to get it to appear)
Then just paste it where ever needed.

thank you, i am wondering and seeking the solution too. there are apps in iphone app store name my gps location, and where am i. but i am reluctant to install it, because. there are few maps apps already in my phones. :).

The Compass app which is Apple's own app (not third party app) gives you the GPS co-ordinates . The co-ordinates can be easily copied by just putting your finger on it
Steve, second question: Does the arrow in lower left point the way to the spot?
I see my below question was answered further down" copy and paste". But does GM have the accuracy for on foot guidance to the exact location or just close?

I just tried it another way and realized you can also just hold your finger on top of the coordinates and it asks if you want to copy it, then you can paste into a text. So 2 options to share it from the compass: screenshot or copy/paste.

it doesnt seem to work on the current version of the app - did you find another work around?? its a real shame google maps or apple maps, dont just give you the gps coordinates when you drop a pin. Entering addresses on my car is a PITA....

The compass app that comes with an iPhone will display your present coordinates, however google maps allows you to email or text them to someone else.

Unfortunately that doesn't answer the question, how do you locate GPS coordinates to find where to put the pin. I have the coordinates, I need Google Maps to find the location.
In Waze you just tap on your dot and click SEND. Don't have to drop pin first.
Google maps has gotten easier to use for coordinates. Just drop pin in, scroll through information about pin and 10 dig coordinates are there and you can press and copy the values.

There's 2 different coordinate numbers on google maps. Top and bottom. Which one do you use to put in your GPS device?
top is decimal, bottom is imperial
It depends on settings of your device. But decimal is more convenient as for me.
