Stumbled on your site - love it.
I love it I have used most of these tips and tricks but you made it sound so much more exciting thanks for sharing huge respect
Useful as always! Whenever I have google questions you're my go to
Thank you for making these videos. They are super helpful!
Dotto you've done it again! I love the asterisk trick.. My favorite thing to do on a map is just kinda browse and see what's around. And the street view throwback is killer too!
+AMaeTV great to hear! Love the wayback machine!
hi there
The asterisk search doesn't work for me. It says "We could not find *" Am I doing something wrong?
AMaeTV
What color of your tongue your wearing
Greetings Dotto, I actually had a practical application for the time view. Earlier this year I was finishing my dissertation in ethnomusicology (in other words musical anthropology). I did field work in New Orleans back in 2010 and the time and street views helped me collect data that I'd missed or forgot about. It also helped me figure out what happened to some of the buildings I visited that no longer exist or drastically changed.
Peace, Love, and Breath!
Thanks so much for sharing this!

Awesome video! Thank you for helping us.
Great video always looking for more ways to use Google maps. Thanks
excellent video. great service.
your videos are very informative. thank you
Just found you site. Awsome! I look forward to receiving your regular updates.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This video appeared on my home page and I watched it. I use public transportation all the time and I know that the site uses Googlemaps--but doesn't save my addresses. Now, I'm going straight to Googlemaps for the same info without having to type addresses in each time. It's the simple things that can change your life!!!
+Zelphia Ellerson good to hear it! I'm glad we could help
Great video. Great work.
Awesome presentation!
Thanks Steve. As ever from, and including, your days on TVO, your content and presentations are top notch.
How did I just now come across this Steve? Going back in time in Google maps... mind-blown. :) Thanks for always teaching me something new.
Welcome! What a fantastic feedback from you, Jed!
Kudos to Dottotech and a Bronx Cheer to all the naysayers!!! Thank you much for your video...will subscribe.
Great information about Google maps that I did not know. Thanks!
Thank you. Great info!
Awesome, thanks!
Thanks! Those tips were great. I had noticed some of the other options for routes but never realised it would give bus numbers etc.

Thanks Kelly!

NICE, THANKS MAN!!
Wow this was so useful°! I love youtube coz of videos like these! Thanks so much
Exellent. Thank you.
It's amazing how far they've progressed with internet maps and satellite imagery in the last 15 years. I remember back in 2000 when Terra Server was the latest thing on the internet. At that time all you got was black and white satellite imagery that covered just the U.S.. The server was slow and the resolution was undefinable below 400 feet. Now they have just about the entire world covered in color and 3D. With Google Earth you can see the terrain in the oceans. For about $15,000 you could build your own Google Earth Liquid Galaxy machine with five HD monitors.
Fantastic! I had no idea of the functionality of Google Maps. You have opened my eyes! Thanks.
It is pretty cool Tom Bridge
Thank you very much !
Thank you u helped me a lot thank u very much!

Catching up a bit after checking out Zoom. This is a bit dated but I see that the Cycle option also shows gradients. Nice!

Excellent Video!
+Donna Gambrell thanks
Fascinating
one video was more than enough to subscribe, nice and useful video!
Arturo Ramirez Glad to have you on the channel!
Thanks Steve
Thanks, dottotech. I had increasingly started using MapQuest because as good as those new features are, knowing what to click became confusing when all I wanted was directions. Will have to play with this.
Laura Belgrave I have not used MapQuest in years, but it used to be my main mapping tool!
Cool! Even the altimetry for bikes.
For ones, I found someone with an excellent speaking skills allowing foreigners to understand. Thanks
I usually use Google maps and I didn´t know about the asterisk. Thank you very much for that. Really useful.
* doesn't work in the UK sadly
The asterisk tool is fantastic.
Very cool. Inveterate Google user but all were new to me
I like these tutorials so much I decided to subscribe and comment. I think there's only one other person I've done that for haha.
I’m flattered, welcome aboard!
I like the new spoken intro coming before logo and theme music. Also, nice update of the logo sequence, with refreshed music and a sound level closer to that of the main part of the video. Good tips on using Maps. I did not know about the asterisk! (By the way, Google calls the little guy Pegman.)
***** Thanks Shawn!
Very cool 👍👍😊😊
Great video - in fact I love all your videos :)
Thanks Stephen
helpful tips and I subscribed. look forward to learning more. :-)

I didn't know you can go back in history in street view, Excellent. Thanks very much!
+grammargrub It is a cool feature!
Who's here is watching in 2017!?
ME
me also !!!!!
I'm watching in 2043.
That would be me. Google earth is a zillion times better than it was in 2014
I'm watching. An update would be good. Now you can get Uber and Lyfte rates in Google Maps.
Didn't know about the star thing. That's super!
I would also recommend using the "report a problem" when the best route is not shown or when a business datum is not accurate.
BTW, the marine drive skytrain station in reality is quite different than the picture on street view. There's a huge building over it now.
Yest that new condo will be in the next street view Samuel Liebermann
Thank you! I'm a new subscriber to your channel. The asterisk tip alone was worth the video!
Linda Teddlie Minton It is great to welcome you aboard!
ط
Very good video and explaining about more features on Google maps! I also like map quest too and they have a drive routing feature for mapping route addresses, you can add 20 some addresses ! Margie
+Margie Deckard Great tip, thanks!
I'm glad you read these I will subscribe to learn new things. Keep us informed and if I have any questions I guest I will email you here. Have a great day
Welcome aboard.
Cool vid... and I only used it for directions. Who knew! 😃👍🏾
Can you do a vid on the new Google Meet, as many of our schools are using this instead of Zoom for Distance Leaning during the COVID-19 pandemic?? TFS. Be well!
Cool.
Here In Indonesia, Google Mobile with Street View Started in 2013.
Can't Wait to enjoy what you share in this Video :)
OPTIMASI Pemetaan Lokal Very cool have fun!
Features I had no idea were there! Very useful.
I know there are a ton more cool features as well Reinhard Fehling
+dotty tech
This was informative and interesting. Great job. Per your last tip is it possible to to see lets say all the restaurants between the staring point and the destination
Thanks
thomas matera Thanks, I know you can filter for things like restaurants, which will bring them into the map, not sure about attaching them to your route, You can check out the Google Help forums as well, they are actually really good for this sort of specific question.
You don't even need the asterisk. You can just click on "nearby business" and the red dots on the map will pop up. Google Maps is good and useful but I'm wishing it will advance even more. For street views I want smoother animation so that you can move without stopping (same way you would control a character in a video game). I also would like to see more places covered. When I research an unknown place I want to discover every parking space. This saves a ton of time and hassle, especially for someone who is disabled such as myself.
Great informative summary of Google Maps features, especially the asterisk. Thanks! By the way, the little stick-man guy on Street View is named Pegman, because he's shaped like a clothes peg. Cheers!
Nice
Great video. Is there HUD google maps mobile version?
Cool video :D
Hi Steve. Thanks for sharing the info. Very interesting. I have a question for you: What software do you use to record the video? Thanks!
Hi, while I'm driving on some rough roads or on my motorcycle, I keep getting a window that says something about vibration sensed, is it possible to stop the window from appearing? It really sucks when I'm getting close to a destination. Thanks in advance, Mike Murphy
This is so great however I have a question. Will I be able to access offline?
Very much enjoy your videos. Thank you. In the Street Maps (versus aerials), how can default place labels be removed and my own address labels be used?
All the default labels clutter up the maps. Thank you
Man - I was hoping to find how to add multiple points route, or a circle route with 8 points to follow, 4 example when I'm visiting Madrid, and my starting and my ending points is Hostel, but the remaining 6 points are different sighting places in this city. All done in walking mode. Please add that tip.
im a kid and i love this vid
awesome just got google maps and was struggling
naemasufi perfect timing!
I haven't really used Google Maps, because I am a Windows Phone user, so I run with Here Maps on my cellphone. However, after fiddling with Google Maps, the options are quite nice. I found out that you can customize the Transit option to favor buses, subway or trains, which is neat. And you even get options to reduce the amount of transfers or walking.
I was rather surprised to find that you can actually get a share link for the directions. That's definitely a top notch feature.
Thanks ***** the transit options are better than our local transit provider!
I love you so much you are so awesome omg
WOW, thanks, re-incarnation of my mom!
I live in Vancouver as well, Happy Canada Day he.
Awesome info, thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Wow, I just found this channel & absolutely luv it! That * trick was so cool, I will definitely be using that & am a happy subscriber to your channel now. You are awesome & a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2018, to you & all of yours. Thank you
Glad you found us!
Awesome
Can you review how to change the map opacity to better view the streets on the map rather than just the street names. Lately the streets are white on light gray and impossible to read. Thanks
the only things that make that bla bla bla noise in my car is the wife, but i agree i should find a 'muffler' for her hahaha
great content and superb tutorials, loving it and sharing with my friends, thank you.
Down loading a specific region is also very useful.

Mr A Wahed-Wimbledon Residents Association, London, UK
Google is great!
BTW, zoom in and click bus stop. You'll see the times the bus will show up.
Thx 🎼
Hi, great video thank you. Just as a matter of interest which screencapture software do you to capture your video? I am particularly interested how your image is superimposed on the computer screen. Thank you
Cant count on google for trips. It makes mistakes even in the city I live in. It cuts out and just stops sometimes. When it says you are at your destination and you know the destination is in the other direction a few blocks away
nice
A+ for google maps, legit ! Use it all over the greater horseshoe area from Toronto to Niagara and everything in between. I wonder how apple maps is shaping up ?
thanks e.v.u.elect I think a lot of people gave up on Apple Maps after the launch
Great info and well done, thx for all your efforts.

SmartWay Marketing Thanks!
Another well done and very informative video Steve. It is great that Google saves directions so I can view them on my android device. Sadly, since the last major update, I have only been able to get it to save the routes that Google suggests (unfortunately not always the best route), I have not been able to get it to save an edited route. Do you have any recommendations to get around this?
Hate to say it, but Patience, next rev may well fix it, or break it worse!.
Sorry I can't help more doceyetjw
