I just recently I bought the new 2024 Highland Model 3 LR here in the UAE. First time EV owner and I love it! Car is fantastic, however, for the life of me I could not get used to the lack of signal indicator stalk and lack of front dashboard display. Having to glance over at the screen for info all the time and using those shit capacitive steering indicator buttons was a serious safety issue/concern for me and especially at roundabouts.
So, after much online research I took the plunge and ordered the S3XY buttons and the installation was super easy (10 min max), exactly like this vid and downloading/installing the app was also super smooth and the only small issue I had was I couldn't reprogram the default functions on the buttons, however a quick app update fixed all that. So pls make sure you update the app!!
I stuck 2 buttons (right/left) on the rear of the steering wheel and use them like "sport pedal gear shifters" whenever I want to signal. I use my dash mounted iPhone in landscape mode which turns the app into a beautiful dashboard display clearly showing indicators direction, break engagement, gear positions (P,D,R,N), speedometer, battery info, and a whole bunch of other stuff (I'm still fiddling and experimenting with it).
For me, this car is now perfect and safe to drive. Lack of dashboard displays and indicator stocks should be illegal! WTF were you thing Elon! Oh and also, each button can be programed for 3 functions (single press, double press, long press) with almost zero delay time. The buttons kit comes with the small OBD connected bluetooth commander and 4 buttons and I ordered 4 extra buttons for a total of 8 (24 total potential functions); overkill I know. I also set the indicators long press functions for trunk open (left) and frunk open (right) and you can basically set any function you want: horn, dome lights, door open, regen %, acceleration modes, climate control, autopilot, etc. Still working on the perfect setup and the buttons can be stuck/hidden almost anywhere.

For anyone trying this on a 2023 Model Y, the connectors are in a similar spot but not exactly as pictured. The larger connector is tucked deeper back in behind a thick red wire, and the smaller connector is a couple inches lower. I would recommend putting velcro onto the Commander to stick it to the door frame so it doesn't rattle.

I succeeded to install it in my M3-2024, but the removal of the side cover did not went easy. (1) the plastic tool provided was not really helping disassembling the cover, because it haves two sides bowed instead of a straight tool like in the video. (2) after having an opening I tried to remove it by hand, very careful. But although that, I still broke two clicker elements of the cover. I succeeded to melt them back in place with a solder tool. (3) the carpet part was not so easy to bend as like in the video, it needed hard force by my left hand to keep it in an opening position. Besides all this, the GEN2 is nice compact compared with the bigger GEN1 which I installed in the rear of my M3-2021. That one was glued onto the rear of the mid console, but rear passengers could hit it with their feet. Main use for the moment: a button on the mid console for right blinker and engaging Auto pilot (long press). Two buttons in the rear of moving the front chairs: use full when flatten the rear seat.
Can you install the Gen2 commander in the front of a model y or is it only specific to the M3 highland?

It's a trim removal tool, it's sold everywhere.

Hello, is there any video for front installation of Gen2 Commander on a 2023 Model 3? I can’t seem to find it if there’s one.. also, I would love to front install the Gen2 Commander but I already have a front display behind the wheel connected to the OBD port, is it possible to daisy-chain the cables? Thanks.
Exactly - if You have an LCD display - OBD port is already occupied - what than ? You can do a back installation probably - but there will be less data coming from the car to the commander probably. So daisy-chain with 2 ports ? One for commander, one for LCD ?
The isntallation process is the same as on the Gen1 commander for those models. You can check it in our channel :)

Mine is a 2024 RWD model 3, from the video 1 min, the grey part seems can be bend, while mine is hard and cannot be bend. That's why there is not enough space for me to plug in the cable. Anyone has the same issue?
Can it unlock stopping mode in model 3 highland? I just would like to set "Roll" only.

My buddy just bought me the sexy buttons for my new 2024 Model 3 Performance. Upon further inspection, it looks like he bought me the one for a 2021+ Model S!! SMH. I can’t just use the short cable and plug it in?

Any update on the stalks release date? Still March?
Old commander / buttons working great btw in my highland, roundabouts would be annoying without the extra button at the bottom of my steering wheel.
I do like size reduction as well, even easier to tuck it away.

I thinke you should develop the turn signal stalk for the refresh model 3. it is a huge demand in China。just stalk and the commander. the refresh model 3 sales is not very good in china(10K/per month) , maybe part of reason is without the turn signal stalk and gear stalk.
Is there a benefit to the front install vs. the rear install? More data/options?
When you have Back Display from china and other there u havent slot on Back..
With the front installation we get more data from the car, which allows us to add more features down the road. At the moment, the front and rear installation give access to the same features 😊

Should indicate its on the right hand side. I started on the passenger side (left side) of my Right hand drive. Turn out it should be the right hand side, which is the Driver side of the RHD.
Took me half an hour and watch other youtuber video.....
