One place you might not have considered, but is absolutely one of the most beautiful is Cypress Mountain, right outside Vancouver. The Sky Chair views are literally second to none. From the city of Vancouver to the fjords of Howe Sound. It's a smaller resort but punches well above its weight in stunning views and sunsets.

As a former Olympic Venue it should always be considered, although I feel like it is still a missed opportunity with its lack of on-Mountain Resources and Transportation Options.
There should be more of a village area and/or accommodations for it to realistically make it onto a list like this along with an expansion of its skiable footprint... but if you are traveling all the way to BC you go to WhistlerBlackcomb not Cypress/Grouse, which are essentially locals runs.

Finally peakrankings gives big sky a little love and respect.. at least with the thumbnail. i worked big sky 3 years and have rode maybe 75% of the terrain despite skiing it pretty much every day in those 3 seasons. Little Couloir is the most insane inbounds run in North America, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise. even if peakrankings will never give it that validation.

I was wondering if you’d include Lake Louise. Not surprised it’s #1. The prettiest resort I’ve been to is Heavenly. What comes to my mind as #2 is Winter Park on top of the Panaramic. You can take a short hike, not for skiing, just viewing, maybe up 50 ft, to get an amazing 360 view. The view from the top of Big Burn in Snowmass is very nice. Brighton has a couple of beautiful views, one from the Great Western lift and the other looking off the backside of Snake down to Midway. I’d have put Brighton above Alta and Snowbird, but all the Salt Lake and Park City resorts have beautiful views. Deer Valley has some great views of Jordenelle reservoir, and also from the Silver Lake Express if you take it going back, you can see all of Park City.

This must be based on views. Alot of these resorts dont provide great snow at all in my opinion. Lake louise can be dry most years, even good years arent great becuase most of the terrain is south facing.
Sunshine in my opinion would have the best combination of views and snow for the cost. The best snow in my opinion will always be Revelstoke BC. Its usually cloudy and views arent great. But the snow makes up for it. Another hidden gem is Red Mountain. Enjoy

I've skied at 14 of the 15 (Panorama remains on my "to do" list), and I agree with most of the choices, but I have to take issue with some of the omissions. In particular, leaving Aspen Highland's views of Maroon Bells off the list is ridiculous. It could easily be Number One (and I do not have any particular love for that region). The ski ghosts on top of Big Mountain in Whitefish are spectacular. Jasper is not mentioned, nor is the fact that Whistler-Blackcomb is marred by rain and fog a great deal of the time and getting worse. Including the adjoining Snowbird and Alta as two separate entries but leaving out Solitude (and snow Basin, for that matter) is just silly. Taos deserves a spot, as does Alpental-- or Crystal, with its stunning views of Rainier,. Then there's the unique and breathtaking Tuckerman Ravine on the flank of New Hampshire's Mount Washington. All in all, this list is a Canadian-centric view of a much wider universe of sights than the compilers have experienced in North America. Moreover, don't limit yourselves to any one list, or to any one continent. The western Alps, Mount Cook, Hokkaido (Mt Yotei), Narvik, Portillo, Gulmarg and a hundred other ski mountains around the world deserve notice for their astonishing beauty-- as long as the snow lasts on this warming planet of ours. I've not been to Bariloche, which I hear is magnificent. So much still to do. :)

Some mountains, 3 in the US, have decided to maintain a pure skiing and be ski only mountains. Although Alta, last I heard, technically, you could ride the mountain since it is National Forest land, you just can't use any of mountain company facilities such as the lifts, i.e., you have to walk up the mountain if you want to ride down.😆

@@rickden8362 uphill travel IS regulated and both Alta and the Forest Service will tell you the same. If it's maintained by the resort, they have dominion over it. The Summer Road is your only legitimate uphill path open during the season, but from there you can venture towards Catherine's Pass/Patsy Marley or from that point toward the areas across from the resort, but if you move into boundary lines/avvy controlled areas, you can find yourself having a conversation with Alta patrol then subsequently Alta Town Sheriff deputies.
The occasional snowboarder will jump from Snowbird to claim a lap and will be promptly ejected. Telemarkers or skinners may go unnnoticed on the downhill, but not on the uphill outside of the summer road area. There's a patrol station sitting right at the top of the road.
