Glad to see you making more videos finally about Chia. Most of us veteran farmers knew GPU mining would be dead post Ethereum merge. Unfortunately a lot of people missed the boat to get out while GPU prices were high. There are quite a few of us who moved into Chia 6 months before the merge selling GPUs for HDDs. Good luck on your Chia journey and HODL until Bram moves his Satoshi BTC coins to XCH ;)

Evergreen uses a Pi running FF to reduce power use to near-minimum.
You can connect FF to our node or someone else's.
Problem with evergreen is they sell preplotted devices, which is fine at 32k plots.. But when chia halves before roi you will need to format and replot the drive.. Idk if they will help with that when the plot size moves to 33 or 34, 32k plotted drives will become a paper weight..
For that reason I wouldn't pump evergreen versus building your own plotting device and running the farm on a low power Unix machine..
I did my Chia farming before it was listed on exchanges, and before it was "officially" pool mined. I solo mined a block which is x2 xch, on Mothers day 2021. Look at the price chart from that time and you can see it paid for all those drives and then some, with one solo hit there. Not sure it will get back up there, was a pump hype and it doesn't look like a real use case like the Flux HDD node, or Storj, even Filecoin has a use case. Cool project, might stand my farm back up in the new workshop and try the GPU plotting with my servers now, if anyone wants to see that vid lol.

your math was wrong on the daily rewards. you take the rewards and divide it by the total space you supply giving you the rewards per terabyte. then you multiply that by the total terabytes in the starter kit to get $0.7765 per day for the starter kit pro, $0.124 per day for the regular kit, and a total of $23.296 per month for the pro kit, for a total of $27.30 a month for both.
Biggest issue with Evergreen is their shipping times are dishonest. On the site it specifically says “Orders are shipping on a 4 week lead time. “ but it’s 6 to 8 weeks minimum currently even if you reach out about your order.

FlexFarmer can run on Linux ARM x64 and x32, and it has support for the new compressed plots from Gigahorse.
Just thinking it can be a sort of DIY setup for those who cant get hold of the evergreen kit.

Panda, I'm having trouble understanding the whole mining vs buying. I understand during the good times you could break even quite fast and in theory continue to use the hardware "for free" to generate income. But these days with the very long multi-year break even pts, isn't it better to just dollar cost avg into the crypto of choice over the same time frame? That way you're supporting the price and helping the crypto vs fighting over the same piece of pie and putting the money into hardware companies?
For sure man. There’s so many different scenarios and cannot predict which way will win out in the end. There are times where if you can time it correctly, like you said good times the breaking even/money making is good. Sometimes its good to get hardware when its cheaper during the bad times in order to be ready for those “good times” ya know? hard to time obviously nobody knows but generally I think for most people buying crypto may just be the easiest. But you can make it better with hardware when its good for while or longer and then sell the hardware peak price while you were mining as well… so many scenarios and ways hard to pinpoint the best. Timing is everything.

the problem with the GPU plotting with compression you need a minimum of 128 gig of ram from what I have heard.

RPM brother I love you but honestly if I ever get into XCH I would just buy the coin and hold it until it moon! Put $1.3k in buying the coin would net more than anyone mining with the $1.3k starter kit for the next 5 years! and also if the coin moon within that time, the only time this type of supper low earning is worth it is if you have all the hardware already doing nothing or for free! Man how times have changed. I was mining Chia back during gen and people hated on it. I made all my 120gb of hard drives, 64gb ram, and 2 tb of nvme drives back (ROI). I've been happy I still make about a dollar a day profit in coin.
I've been getting K32 C7 plots done in about 100 seconds. (256GB ram, RTX 3090) Absolutely insane how they can be created faster than they're written to a JBOD array.

Take a look at a chart over the past 1-2 years showing XCH price compared to BTC and other alt coins. XCH is much more stable during the bear market.
this is making me wanting to make a server rack setup with a whole bunch of 16-20TB drives and so on, will do the maths!
yeah real quick maths, at minimum i would be looking at around 600 bucks, going balls to the walls would be costing me around 4-5 grand, yield on the other hand, on the low hand, 1x 16tb Hard drive, would be around 25 cents/d, the 10x20tb system would be about 6,36$/d, definitely interesting stuffs!
Chia is good project, it use very simpleness, transfer very fast, the chia node distributed all over the world so is safe. the advantages are many!

Be careful with Chia, it's electrically less expensive than gpu mining, but it wears out the ssd at a very very fast rate!
I have the same thought process. Imagine if Chia price is 2X for the next 2 years.. You will just be coming to breakeven after 2 years... if hardware wears out after year 2.. then you're not making a profit. Personally I would stay away from this project. This project has very little to no news on things going on with their project, their chart looks like a classic pump and dump, an the price of their miners is outrageous compared to earnings Panda, I don't know why you are selling out you community for a free mining setup that makes you .90 a day. A lot of youtube miners have been promoting Evergreen and I don't understand why they would want to sell out their community over something so stupid.
