Final Fantasy IX - Beatrix & Destruction of Cleyra (Boss & Scenes)

- This video has a lot to it. You run into another battle against Beatrix, as they are now trying to take over Cleyra. Beatrix decides to take on the entire party once again by herself.
Plot
Some stuff happens, nothing really super important of note IIRC. I'll be honest, my memory is a little fuzzy story wise what happens at the beginning of Disc 2 and their reason for going to Cleyra. An important thing to note though is that Dagger and Steiner returned safely to Alexandria after separating from Zidane & Company. It's also revealed that the Queen has no intention of keeping Dagger safe and has Zorn and Thorn preform an extraction of her Eidolons (that she did not know she possess').

It's revealed after the fight that the Queen grabbed the stone in Cleyra, which appears to be a summon stone. She then uses the Dark Matter to summon Odin to destroy Cleyra.
The scene on the ship with Beatrix shows that she's unsure of the Queen's real motives and does not agree with destroying the entire area and that she feels upstaged by the Black Mages.
Strategy
Same fight as the last one, just different place and different items you'll want to steal if you can. The fight works the same as well, it's timed. Just survive. If you survived the last one, this one should be the same. Nothing really new to note.

I like how at 6:28 when Zidane is introduced to the idea that Quina might be dead, he simply shrugs it off with "Dammit" and proceeds to worry about Beatrix's whereabouts the next moment, Lol.

It is hard as hell to steal all her gear due to the time-limit of these fights lol. Whether you inflict damage on her or not, after a set amount of time she will use her stock break.
She really should have joined the party at the end. I always thought it was stupid she was just a guest
That part I was hyped thinking about to get her just to realize that I wasn’t.
Or at least SquareEnix could make her a secret recruitable character rather than just an NPC.

This soundtrack is my favorite from FFIX. It's also been so many years since I fought these bosses.

Yeah...the mother and his sons deaths impact me when I realized that they died.

I hate the evil remorseless queen for what she did and will never forgive her for the genocide she caused.
The game is very obvious about how it was a goofy spinoff that suddenly got promoted to Main Installment halfway through development because square wanted to start a new console generation with a double digit final fantasy game for marketing purposes - it's very schizophrenic up to the final boss who's practically the posterboy for random bullshit final bosses
9's not really 'dark' so much as it's edgy for the sake of trying to have a dramatic moment.
@@Zelink108 This might be the weirdest take I've ever heard about FFIX. I think the plot is pretty solid and consistent up until Brahne dies, after that the Kuja chasing feels a bit more forced and disjointed imo. Still think it's a very good entry in the series, though.

If you don't remember correctly everything up until Cleyra is about how Dagger and Steiner are kidnapped, and establishing some characters and events for later (like getting the super-soft and meeting Dr. Tot) but nothing terribly important.
Yeah I remember these, some of the worst moments in the game where Garnet abandons Zidane to run home like an idiot and ruin everything.
Apart from Alexandria invading its first target Burmecia, but yeah I agree.

zipkivol if you REALLY max out his stats, I believe he has around 700-800 mp, can't remember correctly.
Is stock break a mistranslation or something like Stop Bracelet on FFT (Meant to be stop breath)? Or did they just throw random words together for these attacks?

Quina was such a useless fucking character as evident by the fact that it’s presence is irrelevant until you are forced to add it. I remember being one of the few people in my group of friends that gave this game a chance. People wanted to talk shit on it without trying it because it was graphically so different than the previous 3 entries. It’s more like Tactics than 6, 7 or 8...but that’s my favorite game ever, so makes sense I would love this!
Haha..crazy I remember getting Tactics the day it came out, I remember I was in 7th grade...damn time does fly. Never thought as an adult I’d be playing it on my cell phone and even that is somewhat dated since I’ve owned it on my iPhone for like 7 years almost 😝
