Hey everyone! Check out or latest US food adventure here! - ruclips.net/video/o-Jyozri5Ak/видео.html Thank you so much for all your love on these videos 🫶
I'm from Akron and my parents went to Swensons on their first date in the late 1930's and it's where I took my wife for ours. While it's not as good as it use to be, its still better than anywhere else.
Im a 50 year old American who has been the best man in more weddings that I wish to admit. Enjoy these times! They go by fast. These are the best of your life.. you will spend a lot of time later in life reminiscing about these memories
I'm 60 next month. In Aurora Ohio, all your friends became crack heads and died so out of 19 guys in the hood you are the only one left. haven't even been to a wedding.
I am just old enough to remember when drive-in's with car hops were common. And you ate in the car with the tray hanging from the window. It was a whole cultural experience.
In my region, Sonic. Not an eat in diner, those are good too. When my mother was a car hop in 1948, my mother had to pay for her own uniform and roller skated to the cars. When my dad and his best friend drove up, he saw my mom, said to his friend, I will marry That girl. And a few months later he did!
YOOOOO! You guys found your way to my area in Ohio! SWENSON'S IS EVERYONE'S FAVORITE BURGER JOINT IN NORTHEASTERN OHIO!!! I was just there a few days ago!!! My favorite is the Galley Boy and those potato teasers (which you had)--and an Ohio cherry soda!!!! There are about 20 Swenson's across the area, from Cleveland to Akron, and people line up for their food even when it snows!!! Enjoy America my friends.
I live about 10 minutes from where you were at and I'm glad you enjoyed your time here. You did the area justice! Thank you for the great reviews. Btw...the deep fried cheesecake comes with an optional berry sauce that makes it much better 😜😆
I am in Illinois, and I have never heard of Swensons in my life. The drive-in places where you eat in your car we have are Sonic, and A&W. The girl who got the fried cheesecake said how American, I am a 65 year old American man, born and raised in Peoria Illinois, and I am about as American as it gets, and I have never had fried cheesecake in my life. I have had the New York cheesecake, that you can get at Walmart or Kroger, but that is about it. And I love Jersey Mike's, they are the best, and much better than Subway. I get the #9 on Wheat and it is really good.
You two are great having the times of your life. You remind me of me and my late wife when we first met. I wish you two the best. And I can leave without sneaking in that you have the most beautiful eyes ❤ 😊
In a lot of homes the size of that mansion that finished basement would often be used as in-law quarters. So if one or both of your parents lived with you they'd have their own living area. A very ideal situation for many people. Looks like you all had a wonderful time.
Half Pounder FTW.. mustard.pickle, onion with Velveeta cheese. a side of zucchini sticks and some breaded mushrooms. that fried cheesecake/Xango looked good, I'm surprised that it didn't come with a side of strawberry dipping sauce. Haven't been to that Swensons Seven Hills location in a while. 🙂👍👍
@ next time you come to Ohio. Come visit my area which is home to a very large Amish Population. I speak the language (PA Dutch) and could show you around. about 1 hour south of Akron.
Just starting on your channel after it popped in my feed. You seem like nice kids. Look forward to diving into more of your videos. One small critique - ditch the fake southern/country accents the guys were using leaving Jimmy John’s. Brits are not fans of Americans using fake British accents. That goes both ways with southerners or those in rural areas of the US. Good luck
My personal opinion is that people miss out trying to get a fancier burger. I would pick Swenson's cheeseburger with everything (cheese/onion/pickle) over the Galley boy every time. Their pulled pork sandwich without the Barbeque sauce (add dill pickles) used to be excellent as well. The vanilla milk shake tastes like some kind of home made ice cream but it is a milkshake mix from a local dairy (Smith's). When it opened, the people taking orders and bringing food to the car were expected to always be running to any car needing them (lights on) or they would be fired on the spot. They got paid NO wages and yet there was a 200 person waiting list for jobs. They had to be college students and all tips went into a pot and got divided. I had a landlord who was also a pharmacist who worked Swenson's part time while going to college about 75 years ago. He considered purposely failing an exam so he could stay in college longer because he made $200 a week working part time from his share of the tips and that was a lot more than a full time degreed pharmacist got paid at the time! The burgers used to be very inexpensive so tips exceeding the cost of the meal weren't unusual, but prices seem to have increased every time the menus got printed (which is often). So their prices are more comparable but the flavor of their burgers and shakes is not. I used to buy 80 cheeseburgers at a time to take back to work at lunchtime. I couldn't afford that now.
The burgers have a little sweetness to them. No one knows the secret recipe. It seems to be something of an Akron urban legend that Swensons mixes a little brown sugar into the ground beef. I can't say if it is true or not, but whatever they do it yields a patty that is extra tasty and delicious
truth be told, alot of the Culver's here are out in the deep suburbs ...I find them easier to get to one when I visit my relatives in Michigan than in Ohio
It’s low key driving me crazy that I can’t figure out which location you’re at, but also makes sense because I only frequent the one on Cuyahoga Falls ave in Akron, lol
In times past, the servers would be in roller skates instead of running to the cars, and they would be teenagers or young women. There are still places around the country where they still serve in skates. I think at some Sonic restaurants.
Pity you missed Sky-Way. Since Swenson's got sold they have cheaper out and since they are across the street from McDonald's I just go there. Big Macs blow Galley boys out of the water. Fun fact- at Swenson's all servers have to run
It cracks me up how they pronounce "jalapeno" exactly like how it's spelled in English...Even though it has a J it's supposed to be pronounced the Mexican way, since the spice came from Mexico... It's spelled and pronounced the spanish way, so the J in Spanish should sound more like an H.... I don't think most people in the UK even realize they are pronouncing it wrong.
I don't understand brits, why is she biting into the sides of things? She did it with the fried cheesecake and now with the sub. I don't get it. I've never seen anyone do that before.

I'm a Bostonian by birth but moved here to Akron OH a decade ago and northeast Ohio is awesome. Glad you enjoyed your stay, come back and visit again!
Thank you, it really is! We felt so welcomed by everyone!

Galley Boys are always the go to!!!! Glad you were able to visit Swensons!
It was delicious 🤤
I get such a kick out of Brits trying our foods , please enjoy all my country has to offer
Biting the cheesecake and sub sandwich in the middle about caused me to wake up my family asking the TV screen out loud..."What are you doing???" 😂
@@CezandGaz I thought that was rather strange as well.
Same it’s triggering lol
When I was a kid in the 60s and 70s, car hops wore roller skates. 🤷♀️ I’m born and raised in Ohio and still here 😅👍
Wow we would have loved to see that!! 🛼
No better place to grow up on earth. Aurora Ohio, Geauga lake park and SeaWorld right across the street.
I love Swensons!!! It makes you feel like a king and the food was incredible! Loved the outfit breakdowns girls, very demure 💅 great video!!
It really does make you feel like royalty 🤣 and thank you!!
fact on fact!!! I craved Swenson's even when I lived on the west coast for a time...aint nothing like it
I am just old enough to remember when drive-in's with car hops were common. And you ate in the car with the tray hanging from the window. It was a whole cultural experience.
I wish we had these at home!
We had an A&W growing up in 90s that you could eat in the car like that. They don't have that anymore, but we still have an original A&W in town. 😀
Well spoken
In my region, Sonic. Not an eat in diner, those are good too. When my mother was a car hop in 1948, my mother had to pay for her own uniform and roller skated to the cars. Wow that is a great love at first sight story! We will have to add Sonic to the list 👌🏼
@CezandGaz Foot long chili dog and a cherry limeaid
The upstairs refrigerator is large but the downstairs one is just a standard American size.

Ooh the soda sounds delicious! We loved Swensons and Ohio, such friendly people and lovely place! 🫶
Great video. Fried cheesecake 😋 Great to see "behind the scenes" on Harry's big day❤
Thank you! It was such a beautiful day ♥️
I love living in this part of Ohio. It's awesome.
We agree!
Galley Boy! I live in Northeast Ohio, and Swensons is my favorite restaurant by far!
It is awesome 🙌🏼
all of us collectively losing our shit over the fried cheesecake is so valid 😂 such a great video ❤
😂😂 it was worthy of that reaction for sure!
Glad you both had a great time in Ohio!!
We really did! Great people, food and hospitality 😁
Congratulations, Harry and Haley! -Best wishes!
Bro love your wife’s bubbly personality. Thanks for sharing your awesome story ❤🎉
Big 👍for Swenson's, too bad you didn't see the X Wing in front of Mike's Place.
Glad that you enjoyed your time here.🙂
We really did thank you!!

Who the hell orders a fried cheese cake without dipping sauce?? I guess the same barbarian who bites her food in the middle! 😮

Swensons is GREAT! I always order the Gallyboy. I live between Cleveland and Akron, and have a Swensons about a mile away from my home.
The bitting in the middle is making me so mad 😂😂😂

I love Swensons double cheeseburgers and tato teasers
Swenson is one of those old names I haven’t heard in so long I forgot about them. Talk about a blast from the past.
You should revisit!!
I’m in love with Cez’s cute face she’s so adorable 😮💨💗💗

Swenson's is 🔥🔥🔥 I live in PA and will often drive over to OH for a Galley Boy ❤
So good 🤤
Their first times trying food with seasoning 😂
15:52 Smoke alarm beep
And 19:55 😄
Hot fudge milkshakes rock.
It’s like a dessert! 🤌🏻

Ah yes I do remember the sweetness! Whatever it is, is GOOD 😋
The best time to do a food review is when you're full.
Welcome to Ohio! Try Culver's.
truth be told, alot of the Culver's here are out in the deep suburbs ...I find them easier to get to one when I visit my relatives in Michigan than in Ohio
I love Swensons. I used to live in the same neighborhood as the original one in Akron.
No way! I wish we had one near us
3:02 facts, bro knows whats up.
very good video
Thanks for watching!
It’s low key driving me crazy that I can’t figure out which location you’re at, but also makes sense because I only frequent the one on Cuyahoga Falls ave in Akron, lol
Lovely dresses look good ladies and gentlemen.
Thank you kindly😁
That’s service ✌️🇺🇸
Shoutout to Dain 🙌
In times past, the servers would be in roller skates instead of running to the cars, and they would be teenagers or young women. There are still places around the country where they still serve in skates. I think at some Sonic restaurants.
Oh wow, it would’ve been so cool to see that!
Bbq sauce and tarter sauce
no one goes to a drive-in for a grilled cheese, that's an embarrassment
Carhops used to wear roller skates!
Wow, now that is something I would love to experience!
Your "waiter" is a "curber" or "car hop" depending on local usage. Or at least it used to be.
Good to know!
Try a roman burner at MR. hero's.
Pity you missed Sky-Way. Since Swenson's got sold they have cheaper out and since they are across the street from McDonald's I just go there. Big Macs blow Galley boys out of the water.
Fun fact- at Swenson's all servers have to run
Will have to check out Sky-way! Is there anything in particular you’d recommend?
Watch the American tv show called HAPPY DAYS to see the stereotypical American drive in restaurant that existed in the 1950s.
Apologies that was satire!! We do say it with a ‘H’ 🤣 ..well most of us do!
Its spanish, it spelled like it's pronounced in Spanish. The J is pronounced like an H.
The way the girl bit into the cheesecake and the sub just let me know shes psycho. 😂
😳😳 if I blink twice in the next video send help
I think we're all picturing the same image in our minds. 😮
I go to more funerals than weddings anymore
attacking a sandwich sideways is a bold move.
She doesn’t play by the rules 😅
👍
I said it before and I'll say it again You look like actress Eleanor Donahue.
Very kind, thank you!
This is definitely a drive-in. It's not at all a diner, though.
all i hear is "so salty", "so sweet".
Where in Ohio?
I live in Dublin, Ohio
I don't understand brits, why is she biting into the sides of things? She did it with the fried cheesecake and now with the sub. I don't get it. I've never seen anyone do that before.
The best bite is in the middle!
Agreed, middle is the best bite@CezandGaz
@@toddwertalik6632 Todd knows wassup! 🙌🏼
They used to have girls in skates as waitresses instead of guys. So they moved fast.
Skates! That would’ve been interesting to see
Why do you bite sandwiches in the middle? LOL...unhinged behavior.
🤣🤣
She destroyed that poor cheesecake
I won’t disagree with you mate!
Jimmy Johns is a rippoff, you get better and cheaper at subway...
Why do Brits take bites of sandwiches from the middle???? LOL
It’s part of the citizenship test 🤪
@@CezandGaz LOL!!!
Why do so many Brits give their children really short names that end in "z"? That's so weird.
They are nicknames! Quite common for a nickname in the UK to end in a ‘Z’ or ‘S’ 🙂
I was so disappointed in how she ate that cheesecake 😢
