- This is part 2 of a two part video on exploring Kodiak Alaska by Car. Here is the link to the first video if you missed it • Kodiak Alaska By Car
For the third year in a row we visit the Kodiak Alaska beaches that have captured our hearts. The beaches of Kodiak are extremely easy to access and are plentiful. Rent a car in Kodiak at the airport and you are on your way to a multitude of beaches from white sand to black sand. There are beach parks, secluded beaches, and beaches only accessible by hike or by boat. In this video we explore Fort Abercrombie and the beaches near the community of Chiniak on Kodiak Island.

We hope you all one day get the chance to fall in love with this island!
As a displaced Alaskan (21 years 5 in Sitka 16 in Anchorage/Palmer and traveled a lot, including Kodiak), I enjoy your channel immensely.
I'm a transplant from Kodiak to New Mexico, how I miss the ocean, mountains, FRESH seafood and sooooo much more. Great video, with any luck I'll make it back soon.
We have a feeling you will be back up soon. There is just something so magnetic about the north. But, we are big fans of NM as well. When we were younger we did some backpacking down there in the Gila Wilderness and always wanted to make a stop at Aldo Leopard and Pecos wilderness areas.
How did you like living there? I have a job offer for a two year contract and am very interested in moving here.
What a wonderful video. I love your family. When I die I hope I come back as one of your kids. My dad was FBI and thought Las Vegas Nevada was the place to go. I have a winter shack within an hour and a half of Vegas and never stop there. I can't stand the place. If I camp and see another camper within a mile I pack up and go somewhere else. I need space. I've always wanted to come up to Alaska and camp and explore. Time's running out for me but I can still explore with your help. Great video as always. I'm sorry it took me this long to find you but I'm glad I did. You have a fantastic family and I wish you and yours all the best. ...Jeff
Nice video
Glad you enjoyed it Christine! Thanks for the positive comment.
I don't think I can make it 4 more years there but I would love to come back for a summer Now that I'm a little older
We feel the same way about where we grew up as well. Beautiful area, but better as a destination now than a home base.
Kevin seemed nice... should have just shouted, "Kevin MOOOOOOOOON!" at him.
Hey Josh! I am assuming that is you after we crossed e-paths yesterday. Was there a Kevin in here? It has been so long since we have seen this video! Edit: Just went and watched the video. YES, Kevin oh sweet patriotic Kevin.

Do you mind sharing where that beach is at/what it is called where the water is so extra beautiful? It was around 2 minutes in, and it was the more crowded beach. We’re moving to Kodiak soon and would LOVE to visit that beach but can’t find anything online like it. 😊 Thank you so much!!
Hi Taylor. It is within the Buskin state recreation area. When you move there you will find it quick because all the coast guard families go there. There is a lake between the airport and town where you go behind it and go through a trail that cuts through the mountain and you come right out at the beach. it feels like you're in a tropical destination, compared to all the other beaches in Kodiak.
It is so beautiful and there are no mosquitos right
It truly is beautiful. No mosquitoes when we were there.
Ha!! I was stationed there back in 1965-66. Went back June 19th 2011. They got some big boys.
I recommend jewel beach on the Coast Guard Base
Thank you! I have a feeling a large number of folks watching this video is Coast Guard families doing reconnaissance on their future home town.
❤❤❤
What's the h2o temp. In summer?
Good question. Cold! We don't know the exact tabs, but we only last swimming about 15 minutes tops. Now we are pretty skinny so we don't have a whole lot of insulation.
So what are the names of the beaches?
This hits most of them www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g31037-Activities-c57-Kodiak_Island_Alaska.html
ROFL Tropical beach ? yeah about 30° Colder
Funny though. You would never have guessed with how all those folks on the beach were swimming and sunbathing. Love Alaskans!
music inserts are terrible
Haha. We agree! That was our second RUclips video. A lot more mellow now. Thanks for the confirmation though.
Hawaii would be so much nicer
