    I really can't say how much I loved this video. My Mom is in the last weeks of fighting cancer, and... I can't sleep. I just delay and delay. Then I wake up and I check my phone, feel an urge to check on her. Then I'm wide awake, and worrying. So art videos have been helpful. The more in-depth the better. I've been too stressed to really do much art lately, but I got a whole bag of my supplies from their house a few weeks ago, along with alcohol inks I never got to play with. I think... It would be cool if I ended up making something she'd like, show her that I'm going to keep at it, keep learning, keep growing. She used to do wonderful landscapes and even some realism, but stopped when life didn't really allow the time anymore. So I think it's something to try, and a way to channel some of what I'm feeling. I always loved making abstract acrylic art the most, so I feel like I'll like this, if I can just shush my perfectionist voice.
    In anything in art, that voice is always there, but the thing I like to remember is that nobody has to see it. If it sucks, fine, sure, okay. It's not a failure, because I learned, even if it was just what not to do. It'll be easier to identify my mistakes next time. I started trying digital realism with the idea that if it was awful, I could never mention it to anyone and no one would be the wiser. I could just check it off my list and move on. To my surprise, I was kind of good, right off the bat. It's the freeing yourself from expectations part that's hard. But if you can get that down, just enjoy the journey, I don't think I've ever found anything so freeing.
    I just wanted to comment and say thanks. People make videos for all kinds of reasons, watch them for just as many. But, being able to watch this at this point in time for me meant something, so thank you. I hope you keep it up. I'll be going through your other material on other sleepless nights, and here's hoping you're not the only one who'll be growing in your art. Stay awesome. 🌷

      Hi Amara, I read this yesterday and have been speechless since and didn't know how to respond. Your heart felt message means so much to me. Thank you for sharing your struggle. What you are going through must be hard and can't imagine. Letting go of expectations of yourself and what you are able to achieve is the first most difficult thing. Sometimes the strong feelings inside won't let you produce anything you like and that's ok. Just get it out. What you created in the past should be left in the past and look at every painting as a learning experience and practice. I hope you are able to paint again to help with your feelings and what you're going through. Don't wait for inspiration because in a state of depression inspiration won't come. Just grab a piece of paper and pick a wierd color and test it to see what it does. You will be surprised how time disappears as you are emerged into the process. You are in my prayers. Thank you for watching

I am inspired by so many artists' videos on RUclips that I buy supplies to make my own things (alcohol inks included), but fear of failure frequently holds me back. As a kid, I would come home from school every day and Bob Ross was always on when I got home. Some days I would be in my room watching and fall out to sleep because the man had the most soothing voice! I loved art then and I still do and it is people like him and you that spark that interest in others. So thank you!

    This tutorial is awesome.
    Firstly I really appreciate that you keep it simple, no need for music. For me, and many others it really helps avoid overload and we can enjoy the video.
    The other thing is that you are using the rocket. Most videos show only using a dryer. I find using the rocket so different from a dryer and being able to see how the ink etc reacts to the rocket helps me know what to expect.

    Your clear objectives while you painted were exactly what I needed. Your ability to specifically describe your process while painting is superior. Finally I can paint "to practice rather than to be perfect " and "who cares what anyone thinks‼️" Can't wait for another Lesson 🎨 Stay safe...

    Excellent tutorial which I'll watch again, but what I appreciated the most was the encouragement. Trying a new medium can be so discouraging because of impatience, the "want it now" mindset, and when I remember how long it took me to get a grasp on other mediums it helps me to let go and play. Thanks for taking the time and for helping me to remember to enjoy the learning process.

      Just like anything I'll use "yoga" it's YOUR practice for you to be present and no one else's that why you should try it going in with no judgement or expectations. We are our worse critics and enemies fighting that inner voice of "I can't" to easing into it and changing the voice to "let me try it, it's just good practice" it's always good to do something that scares you.

    I watched this the other night right before bed...or in bed....was late and was falling asleep, and just as i drifted in and out, i saw the end result of the painting...i thought, wow thats cool, it transformed into a figure drawing. Then i shut the ipad and went to sleep. Wanted to finish watching the next day. It wasnt the same end result. Both end results were cool.

    So glad I found your channel! I've only just begun playing with acrylic paints and I've learned a lot from you! I am a hairdresser, and I wanted to give you a couple of bits about your blow dryer. One, don't cover the back of your blow dryer! Yes you're controlling the air flow but what you're going to do is burn out your motor. If you want a lower powered blow dryer get a travel blow dryer. Babyliss has a good one.

    • @AskariArt
      @AskariArt  3 года назад +1

      Hey Marla, I took your advice and bought a little Babyliss blow dryer travel size in Ruby Red! this one: amzn.to/3pOkqf8. I'll make a video of it, reviewing it. My initial thoughts on it are that it doesn't have a cold setting on it which will speed up the drying process in most cases which is good in some instances and bad in others. Do you know of a travel size that has a low/med/high-speed setting with a cold/warm/hot setting as well?

    • @AskariArt
      @AskariArt  3 года назад +3

      Don't let the splatter stop you it's normal you can all ways move it and get rid of it. I have a 4 part series where I'm working on a commission that isn't going the way I'd like. It's ok to be frustrated it's part of the process. Just walk away from it till you feel better and then come back to it. The rocket does help move it under more control especially if you are working on a smaller piece.

      I'm so excited for you Heather! Don't let it frustrate you. You will have moments of frustration and joy but don't let that discourage you as these are moments you will learn the most. If the frustration is overwhelming take a break and comeback to it as a learning opportunity mindset and not making a masterpiece but learning how this nature of alcohol ink is and how it moves.
