    I had my eye on the 9000 but decided on the 6000. Runs everything in my house (AC, water heater, electric range, fridge, electric water heater...), is 140 pounds lighter, and $1,000 cheaper. Have to be a little more aware of power management for a couple high draw appliances, but no big deal.
    I went a step further with my break-in and used actual break-in oil for about 1.5 hours on a 20% load after a 5-10 min low idle warm up. Before this, I took the spark plug out and lubed the upper cylinder with Lucas so the initial start wouldn't be dry. I switched to a cheap conventional for another 3 hours with 2 oil changes to flush the particles out, then filled with synthetic (Amsoil small engine oil). I plan to run that for another few hours (probably my first real use of the generator), then change the oil one more time. Thinking I'll probably go to more regular intervals at that time.
    "Break-in oil is different from regular motor oil because, by design, it is supposed to allow the rings to wear down the peaks on the cylinder wall to form a good seal. Regular motor oil, in contrast, is designed to prevent wear." - Amsoil. My thought process was the break-in oil would seat the piston rings much sooner and more efficiently than regular oil.
    ruclips.net/video/vANsbZf03DQ/видео.html
    I've seen a lot of people say "no load", but I think you need to have some load so there's pressure on the piston so the rings seat properly, maximizing compression and reducing the chance of blow-by. Since the engine is designed to be used under load it made sense to me to break it in with some light load to start, change it up every once in a while, and increasing the load up to 40-50% by the end of the break-in. By around hour 5, I did want to see if it would run my water heater, so I was at nearly a 100% for a few minutes before my final oil change. Anyway...my two cents.

    How reliable has it been? And how does one get it repaired if it breaks?

  • @ViciousXUSMC
    @ViciousXUSMC Год назад +1

    Got mine this week, doing the break-in as we speak so its ready for use during the next hurricane.
    I did get the magnetic dip-stick I see that recommended a lot, have not thought about getting the magnetic bolt.
    I mean with the filter this unit is already probably a lot cleaner than other units, but at the same time $10 is not much to add for some extra insurance.
    That oil pan, now that is the real life saver, kinda expensive for what it is but worth not having to figure out how to raise this thing to drain the oil.
    As far as load, I gotta figure out what I'll plug into this thing, I ran for about 2 hours yesterday on eco mode, and an hour with eco off. so want to do about 2 more hours of run time with some kind of load on it, and then change the oil.
    First impressions, much bigger than I thought it would be, but easier to move than expected with the handles.
    Much quieter than I expected, probably more quiet than my 2000w Champion Inverter generator, especially under load.
    Not a fan of bolts to take the cover off instead of a quick release, but I can imagine that might help with fighting vibrations.
    Something I wish I had done for that first time run, rather than read the manual, add oil and fire it up. I wish I had removed the spark plug and put oil in there, and pulled the start cable slowly a few times rather than just firing it right up with a dry cylinder.
    I think the next logical video for you to make if you want to make some more content is the method you decide to use for storage when not in use.
    For me that just involves putting a little bit of ethanol free fuel in the tank, with some stabilizer, run it thru the system for about 15 min, and then cut off the fuel to run the carb dry.
    From there I'll just run it for about 15min and run dry again every few months, when I change my HVAC air filter I'll make this part of the rotation.
    But some people go really far with this, actually draining the tank, draining the carb, etc.

    • @JavierRivera
      @JavierRivera  Год назад

      Nice 👍🏻. I do the same for storage and I start it once a week or every 2 weeks. I also use Stabilizer. I am about to make a video changing the spark plug because last week I had some trouble starting the generator but finally started and I think is related to the spark plug.

    great video! I just received my Genmax 10500 and ran it for 1 hour with 10W-30 full synthetic. I honestly didn't even know that conventional still existed. Should I drain the oil and change to conventional 10w-30?

    • @JavierRivera
      @JavierRivera  2 месяца назад

      10500. Men I wish I had waited for that one. No you should be fine. However; I read in the manual that came with the generator; Is not at the online pdf; that the recommended oil is 10w30. IF running the generator in Extreme Temperatures see the following chart for recommended oil type. And in the chart says from below 5°F to above 120°F to use 5W-30 full synthetic oil.
      Check your 10500 manual that came with the generator because I just checked the online pdf and the chart is not there either.

    Here’s a hit for everyone… Always waist 1 quart of new oil to run thru the open system to flush out any remaining pieces of lose build material.. it’s a cheap way to help you completely clean and flush out a brand new machined engine after the first break In period.. 👍

    Very informative Thx. 2 questions: What did you use to clean the filter?
    I have a 30 amp power input plug rated for 7500 watts with an interlock in my panel. Can I buy and use the 9000 with 7600 running watts with my 30 amp setup? Thx again.

    • @JavierRivera
      @JavierRivera  Год назад +1

      Hello. I washed with Dawn and water then dry it out. To your second question. YES. But you will get 30AMP not 50. If you want 50amp you will need a 50amp power inlet and a 50amp breaker with 6/4 cables.

      @@JavierRivera Very clear answers. I thought about buying the GenMax 6000 for $1399.
      GenMax 9000 has $200 off now, so it brings it down from $2199 to $1999. Still $600 more but at least with the GenMax 9000 I will be spot on for the 7500 watts, 30 amp running watts.
      Now with the GenMax 6000, it will be approximately 5700 watts running. So your talking an additional 1800 watts for my home. Javier check out the Low Profile Oil Pan on Amazon, I think it cost $17.00.
      Great answer, thanks again.

      @@mikeienuso1926 I will get the gm900Ied. When you see the specifications, the GM6000iED has a gas amp max of 25A peak, and 21.9A running the GM900iED has a 37.5A peak and 31.7A running. The propane peak is 22.9A vs 35.6A peak and 19.8A vs 30A running. so there is a difference. If you only have a 30A power inlet and want to maximize the use of that plug, you will need the GM9000Ied. recently purchased the 9000IED, needed a more quiet generator for my concession trailer. Have a predator 8750 , great unit but loud. I did my first 3 hours under low level load changed the oil then 3 more hours under medium load and changed the oil, Then last weekend an October fest event with a 8 hour run time. It ran great and I did get the low profile oil pan on your recommendation (must have). This also allows me to change it right on the trailer, its mounted on a platform on the tongue of the trailer and at over 250lbs, I really like not having yo move it. What a change in the db level and now I can go to more events with closer proximity to other vendors and not be "that guy" with the loud generator. I also just purchased the magnetic dip stick for it . One issue which i resolved quickly from a post from one of your other viewers (thanks you) was about the 50 AMP connection. It will not go in all the way due to the frame of the generator , the bottom hits so its out about a quarter of an inch , not recommended to leave. I purchased an adapter that gives it plenty of room to make that adjustment. Its not a pigtail but a extender of the prongs . So far I think this was a great investment and I hope to have it around for awhile. Great video and thanks for the info .
    Jim

      @@JavierRivera Wow ! impressive reply time. Oil level is good. No low oil indicator light. I switched over to propane, better outcome with strategic placement. Full disclosure: I'm hoping to fire it up from within the bed of my long bed truck with my RV. It's a bit heavy for offloading to run curbside.
      I'm wondering if the exhaust was extended beyond the case, if this may help. Thanks for your channel!

      The person who told me about the oil sensor said that no light 💡 was on. He just disconnected the sensor to test it and it works in his case. If you concern is CO I do not think extending the exhaust will help. The generator is already outside. If you had it inside the garage then I see a benefit on extending the exhaust to vent it to the outside of the garage. Here is something that I thought 💭 to do or use if I decide to put it on the back of my truck. amzn.to/467z47N

    Hi, Javier I'm kind of confused you said after the break in period you said to switch to 5w-30 synthetic, but I see you put in 10w-30 again is there a reason why you didn't switch it? Or do I need to run 10w-30 again? thank you in advance
