I'm a BMW fan, I drive one, I generally prefer them to their competitors....but the way some of the fanboys below are talking about the C63 as if it's a Lada is ridiculous. Both great cars.

The m3 is a legend, Unlike Amg, M Dosent just put a huge amount of torque and horse power, they balance there cars out very well

Jay Singh AMG makes their cars for fun, not for track. That's why it oversteers so you can drift it easier, AMG has a tradition of making loud and fun cars, they are gonna change it for BMW. Mercedes has been around long before BMW so if they wanted to make a car to beat the M3 they definitley could. Anybody that argues with that is stupid.

I would say that Mercedes does it on purpose, and that's why I can't say which is better because they are different cars with different driving dynamics for slightly different consumers
I own a 2010 c63 and I'm crossing over to the 2016 M3. C63 didn't need more power, it needed to be lighter and more agile. Oversteer is cool on a track but when I'm driving on back mountain roads swinging that tail end out is too much. m3 is more what I am looking for, plus they offer a manual :)

NikoBell12 I actually found it incredibly boring because it is so shallow. They put the cars on a track and BAM they are done. Instead of testing them on the road where they drive over 99% of the time.

Will Johnson Same here. Not because I have anything bad to say about M3's, just that I don't race people on tracks, and I don't need a 0.7 second advantage over another car. I'd get the C63 S AMG because I prefer the look, sound, comfort, and feel of it.
Alien Or Sutin Exactly. I've owned an M3 and an E63 (yes, different classes), and loved both of them. Nothing bad to say about the M, the C just has such a better sound and feels a little more 'special'. They're both too fast to use that speed on daily use anyway...and if I'm going to track a car, it won't be a sedan.
Will Johnson How did you find ownership of the E63? I've considered getting one many times but it always comes down to the fact that it's too much power going through one axle. With my lead-lined right foot, I'd be buying a new set or rears every week (or every month if I'm optimistic). I like that they finally started doing a 4Matic version of the AMG's. Personally I went for an E500 4Matic, with 387bhp. Even in the wet it's a struggle to get the traction control light to come on, it just puts all the power down all the time. I can imagine myself picking up a used W212 E63 AMG 4Matic Estate in 2-3 years time.
Alien Or Sutin I had a 2010 E63 for a relatively brief period (I couldn't get rid of my itch for another 911). Not a bad thing to say about it, other than at the time, MB's COMAND system was beginning to feel a bit dated. Having said that, I didn't get the car to surf the net or stream music anyway...I got it to go like hell. And that it did. Yes, it struggled with traction, especially in the wet. But in those conditions you still have to be careful with 400+ hp cars anyway. The new AWD versions are where it's at, it's amazing how those cars get off the line: E63 S, S7/RS7, Panamera GTS. I wouldn't buy a used one unless it's MB Certified, but finding a 2014+ one is the perfect car for me, ESPECIALLY the Estate. I'm in a S7 for now...GREAT car, but not an AMG or RS.
Will Johnson S7 sounds like a good choice. You have to wonder how often you really ever get to use those horses above 400 anyway. You might plant your foot to the floor and enjoy the ride to 60mph for example and think how having 500bhp is awesome, but not be actually using more than 400 of them a lot of the time. Apart from when I'm on the unrestricted Autobahns, I'm doubting I use more than 300bhp 99% of the time. I'll be sticking in the 300-400 range until those E63 4Matics get their ridiculous first 2-3 years of depreciation out of the way and then I'll pick one up :) Come on 2017, get a move on.

Kings mario Well the LCI is already here and no sign of a CP. The normal version is actually performant enough so... If they do it, then it's nice but i don't think they really need it.

***** There'd be an upgraded 507 which will probably be like 540hp and a few more such as the other editions which came out. This engine has much more capabilities.
The normal coupe has been seen testing. There are more editions of the C63, which you know because Mercedes engineers have said this engine has capabilities of easily over 600hp, with tuners already going above that, which leaves headroom for more editions.
This was easily one of Evos' best videos ever! Dan Prosser was excellent in his presentation and description of the driving experience and feel. The stop start feature in the side by side video was excellent and Evo should be commended on this simple but extremely effective application and 'show and tell' tool.
BMW is faster and looks better too. I know which I would get.

Personally like the C63s more, but I respect the M3's capabilities. In the end, the C63s is really just a luxury mid size sedan with a monster engine, whereas the M3 was built for the track.
Don’t get fooled by videos like this. ‘Built for the track’, which track??? Monaco or Monza.
That’s the trouble with RUclips videos, they need to be more comprehensive. It’s pretty crappy that an outfit as big as Evo couldn’t even get a car spec the same. Carbon brakes make a big difference even before you get as far as overheating.
M3 probably is faster on a track but this was a cherry pick by the Mag.
Regardless of which one is your favorite, you just can't help giving the other the respect it deserves. Great cars, both!

In germany are 3 fractions; the bavarians (BMW,Audi) swabia (Mercedes, Porsche) and Prussians(VW) and the bavarians hate all the others to death, so it is deadly.

Great video! I have a 2015 M3; just picked her up about a month ago. Definitely not a daily driver that is for everyone (I think the Benz wins there with more comfort and straight line speed), but the M3 just draws a smile every time I start her up! The exhaust also ins't that bad if you're used to it and its warmed up with valves fully open!
BMW: 80hp less and still faster. same goes for the older m3 vs c63 amg. goes to show what good engineering and chassis tuning does to a car.
The c63 is a basically a modern German muscle car. A m3 is a German track car for the masses. I personally want a m3 over a c63.

Mercedes does more than just raw power. The C63 is a much better all-rounder. If you want a track car, the M3 is better, yes. But there are better track cars than it. It's all about compromise.
The Mercedes doesn't use automated single clutch transmission. It uses a transmission more like a conventional automatic gear box with planetary gears. The different part about it is that it uses a multi disc clutch pack instead of a torque converter.
Finally, a proper comparison between the M3 and the c63s that we wants.

Raja S the m3 i have no doubt is faster in the corners but in a straight is beaten out by the c63 most roads in america tend to be straight and not shaped like road courses.
my M4 beats my friends C63 s in straight / Corners/dry /wet any road, but not by a huge difference, it also depends upon the driver i guess. But u can't go wrong with either. Such amazing cars.
just the sheer fact that you compared m3's gearbox to ferrari's makes me think that bmw is doing something right.
BMW's DCT is amongst the best like Porsche and Ferrari , neither Audi and MB's gearbox is even close to the DCT of the BMW.I have been in a BMW with DCT and the gearshifts are instant.

I love my M4 it is the perfect everyday car for all uses. According to other owners dynos it puts out around 465-480 hp at crank. I would love to get the C63 S because of the V8 it is more of a cruiser.

U should mention the weight comparison and weight distribution of the cars. Those two factors are extremely important when it comes down to putting the generated force to the ground.

Good thing for mercedes fans, being faster on a race track is completely irrelevant in the real world where straight line performance is more relevant.
Light Yagami indeed, you hear him talking in the beginning how everything in the BMW feels so much better on a flat racetrack than it did on the road. exactly something i do not want to hear if i am looking for a car! you can see the Mercedes being a bit more "wobbely" in the corners, showing it has a slightly longer spring rate and softer damping. i would definately choose the Mercedes over the BMW, as tracktimes do not interest me that much. Real world performance and usability do.

This is still regular M3 without competition package. This C63 AMG S is same class with competition package of M3. Still can't beat. And competition package m3 also faster than Amg in straight line as well. 0-60 3,8 sec

Well, i have to say that. As a BMW fan/Owner ( 130i Hatch, 265 BHP, 6l, etc ) for me a couple of seconds doesn't matter at all when you buy a car. A car is also made of emotions, the feeling, the sound, the power, etc. I love trM3, its a fantastic car, it's so precise and thight, a track machine!! But the c63s, ah its amazing!! Got the feeling, the sound, the power, and even a couple of second's slower, still an fantastic and emotional car. These are two completely different beasts, and two fantastic cars!! Stop this fight between Bmw and Mercedes!

C63 for days
I'm really impressed by the C63. The chassis seems much better behaved on track than its predecessor. The lap time margin between the E92 M3 and the older C63 was far greater. AMG is doing good work-

Finally these two :) Personally, I prefer the AMG. Better sound and most likely a better all around road car. Still, I'm glad I ordered a Cayman GTS instead of a C63 S.
Cayman is better than both the M3 and C63s. But if were to choose between the two, BMW has my money. Lighter, more agile and just better fun to drive.
Seems like a really small race track. A decent straight would allow the benz to close the gap nicely. Besides, c63 is more about being a luxury rocket rather than a track star.

No not exactly, actually it is called the AMG speedshift MCT. It i essentially the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission without a torque converter. Instead of a torque converter, it uses a compact wet startup clutch to launch the car from a stop, and also supports computer-controlled double declutching. The MCT (Multi-Clutch Technology) acronym refers to a planetary (automatic) transmission’s multiple clutches and bands for each gear.
BMW's DCT is still much faster though, but to call the mercedes' transmission a conventional auto, is not right either.
why wasn't the c63s opted with ceramic breaks also?

These cars are just so good! Personally I'll need to try both but I think I might take the M3 just for looks.
They are both great cars but very different beasts. The M3 is awesome (I owned one) and is an easier drive as the car is very well balanced. I jacked in the M3 and got the C63 AMG S (which I currently still have) and I love it. The AMG is less forgiving and requires more "driving" which is what I love about it. I'm neither a Merc or BMW fanboy but more a driving fanboy. For me overall if you are looking to buy one of these the M3 would probably pip it for most but saying that I wouldn't swap my AMG back for the M3. You can't go wrong with either, it's just down to personal preference

I drove the C63S AMG yesterday and once you hear that brutal V8 roaring (AMG really did a good job making the 4.0 bi-turbo V8 sound as "full" as the older 6.2 version) you will soon forget about the fact the C63S is a bit heavier and a bit more slumpish than the M3. These cars are not made for solely tracking anyway. They are just sporty saloons made to have fun on your daily rides and have an occasional trackday if you like. Imo the C63S is the one who will give you the most thrills and the most "thumbs up" from other petrolheads simply because of its higher muscle/testosteron level.
Ofcourse all this is from the perspective of a fast saloon where agility and handling are not the #1 prior thing, at least not in my opinion.

So half a second faster, with less refinement, less technology, and definitely with a way better sound, how many times ppl takes this cars to the track? Most never do , how many get race on the street at a red light ? Lots of them and you know what that c63 will make you eat dust 100% of the time .

dominicancash first of all, the F80 looks a lot niver interior than the C63. The C63 is rear wheel drive you idiot. You have to pay extra for all wheel drive.
The M3 is a far better track day/fun car but as a daily driver I'd take the c63. Mercedes has the best comfort and luxury in that segment by far.

Normally I wouldn't care about lap times but this shows how the M3 is sharper and better on a track than the Merc. Both are awesome cars, and can be very fun drift monsters, but despite its extra power and torque, the Mercedes isn't faster 0-60 than the M3 (I know in the video it says the M3 does 0-60 in 4,3s but that's with the manual transmission, with the dual clutch they both do 4 seconds flat).
I personally prefer the Bimmer, especially fo that masterpiece of a DCT (regular autos are good, but in a sports car I would either have a DCT or a manual).
Also, the power they _really_ make is more important because BMW and Mercedes lie a lot about power in their cars. According to dynos, the MB has about 520hp (so Mercedes didn't lie that much this time), and the BMW has about 480 hp, so the difference isn't that big in real life (40 hp), but it is still considerable.

From the beginning of this video Evo seemed to be biased towards the BMW. The current generation M3 and M4 have been around for a while and likely the driver is more used to driving the M3 and M4. Pretty sure a different driver could put the extra 80hp into use and smoke the BMW.

wishdj Not so sure about that. The AMG-models always had way more power than the M-models but the AMGs always struggled to "convert" it into performance. Just take a look at the old M3 and the old C63. The C63 black edition had more than 90hp and 220Nm of torque more than the M3 and still the M3 was the better track-car.
The AMGs are monsters on a straight line but they lack that last little bit of precision that the M-models deliver. Except the E63. That one beats the M5. Period. The current M5 is a disgrace for his heritage.

wishdj well u can say that about any review, BMW m3 won in this case.
BFD15i the M6 Gran Coupe (same engine, a bit more weight than M5) destroyed the E63 in a straight line drag, and the BMW had a shitty launch. Chris Harris was driving , search it next time before saying the M5 is a disgrace.

BMW M always stood for exceptional transverse dynamics while AMG always cared more for longitudinal dynamics.
The current M5, however, can't stand a chance against the E63 on a track.
The german magazine "SportAuto" had them tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the E63 AMG S was 15(!) seconds faster than the M5.
How about you do your researches the next time before posting irrelevant stuff on the interwebs..

Just typical Mercedes, oh well if the car is not good enough just give it more power with an "S" version, but still gets smoked by the BMW. Is just like when they couldn't beat the Audi RS6 Avant, what did they do? They threw the entire kitchen sink at them, they added the "S" version AND incorprated 4-Matic into the E Class Estate. Merc is probably the more expensive looking car, but that's about all it has got going for them and that applies pretty much across all their model range.

Alex Fu Lol relax bud, it's not that serious. The fact that you care enough to shit on a car brand that doesn't force you to buy their product is alarming. If you want to be 0.7 seconds faster around a track then another car, then buy the BMW. If you want a faster straight line "muscle" car with a great sounding exhaust for a daily driver, then buy the AMG. Maybe you should wise up and realize that AMG and M have always had traits and characteristics to them for years that reflects in the differences in build and performance of these 2 competing models as they always have. AMG just likes building cars that are hooligans and have tons of torque and acceleration, M division likes building more track focused and precise cars.
Alex Fu good luck the other 364 days of the year when you're not on a track. your superior cornering speed (which is probably only superior by 2/3mph) is not gonna help you one bit. comfort and torque is.

The AMG weight 63 kg more than the M3 but 0.7 second behind vs the M5 50 anniversary 600 hp but 360 kg heavier but the gap between M4 and 50 anniversary M5 is around 0.2 second.
The M differential have better locking ability than AMG's, it means the rear have less grip than the front, gives a sharper steering. The AMG doesn't have it, the rear doesn't have as much locking as the M, it just gives closer traction ratio between rear and the front, for car weight that much, it'll just under steer. At corner exit, it got too much torque, 516 lb/ft, sure it'll over steer. At corner entry, it weight heavier, sure it'll over steer a bit into a corner too. Also at 8:53, the M3 locking ability brings some over steer but at the next corner, the weight transfer of the AMG will upset the dynamic.
