I would like to see Yami Yugi's ORIGINAL Egyptian past. What we saw in Season 5 was NOT how the events in Egypt actually happened. That Dark RPG was tampered with many times so thwre were some alterations to the Egyptian events. I would like to see hpw thw Egyptian events originally happened as well as how Atem swaled his soul into the Millennium Puzzle.
I blame Tristan's seeming irrelevance on the fact that he tends to get completely wrecked in adaptations. Season 0 flanderized him to be this simp for a girl named Miho (Yellow Ribbon in the manga, I think she's called), who was a one off character originally but was made a core group member. When he was adapted for the Duel Monsters anime, he was closer to what he was, but because of the nature of his role, he became a shadow of his former self when 4Kids got him. He's basically the big friend who's actually able to get in fist fights and not necessarily lose, he's also the friend for Joey who knocks sense into him when he's being... well, kinda stuck in his own head. If Joey represents new players, Tristan was supposed to represent people who don't play the game who could ask the dumb questions about the rules for the audience, especially during Duelist Kingdom.

I like the idea of Tristan being that friend who doesn't care about playing the game but still comes to support his friends anyways. That said, he should be more active in the show like when he punched the fake boulder and popped it and when he knocked out Bakura and threw away his Millennium Ring. He's a more physical character, so he should have more chances to do physical things, and maybe even make a game similar to Joey's battle from Battle City that became a fist fight wearing armor versions of your monsters and have that be Tristan's thing. Or just have him play basketball or something athletic, but use those skills to help the guys when things get physical. Also, make more physical things happen, like have Kaiba actually fall from the roof and Tristan sprint over to catch him. I mean, I don't recommend changing that scene specifically, but do stuff like that in other scenes. Remember when he scaled part of Pegasus's castle with Bakura and Tea? He actually did a lot in season 1, at least as they got closer to the end. Make that a more regular thing as the muscle of the group and they can even throw in a few moments when he's forced to duel and has to rely on what he learned watching the guys to try to compete with someone who outclasses him in every way (he can still lose) and another time where he fails as the group muscle and gets outmuscled and has a crisis over his usefulness cause of it. Lots of character arcs you can do with his character. I really do hope they reboot the series one day and use more real rules from Battle City onwards. I still love the idea of Duelist Kingdom being Yugioh D&D
Tristan’s role was two things: being Joey’s friend and being a reliable sharpshooter. Tristan is one of the few characters who knew what Joey was like before he straightened up. He’s also the one who got Yugi and the gang past the first Death-T trial.

I still love the fact that he single handedly took down the series's main villain by skipping the card and shadow games and just straight up knocking him out and stealing his millennium item. That was so hardcore and it'd have been great to see him get a few more chances to shine like that in later seasons, even if it ended up being as long-term pointless later on as it ended up being in that encounter with Bakura. I can't remember the Death-T thing, was that manga only? I've only read a few chapters of the original, actually, and it's been a long time since I've read or watched any Yugioh. I wanna go back to it after all this though
Great video! I myself have been poking away at a fan-rewrite on my spare time, and one of the biggest things I'd change is I would include more stories out of the early manga/season zero. I feel like the overall plot might flow better if even just a few of those early shadow games were properly included. Also, bring back the horror themes! Horror was such a huge part of the appeal of the original source material, and I feel incorporating more of those themes would help set a reboot apart from other yugioh animes!

If they are going to do a reboot, they should make it so modern Seto Kaiba and ancient Kisara have more interactions because those scenes were cut off due to the struggle to meet the original series's deadline.
In regards to the Noah arc, one thing I would want to see is Mokuba being involved in duels. To this day I still don't understand why Tristan and Serenity had duels in the Noah arc but not Mokuba? Huge missed opportunity to have Mokuba duel with a member of the big five and a tag duel against their step dad. Would also make Yugi a side character in that arc since the whole arc was really a Kaiba family arc
If there is a reboot i would want it to cover all of the material from the manga instead of changing it like the anime did. We already have a manga only movie sequel might as well bridge it with the rest of the manga timeline.

I’d love to see a time jump with Yugi an older man. His kids are the main characters and uncle Joey takes along. Kiba shows up when they need Big help. Yugi hasn’t played in years… supposedly. Shows up for a one of duel. A reboot should be a live action series with AI CGI monsters. More time of the episode spent on epic monster action.

I wouldn't mind a more manga accurate remake of the original series, while still keeping aspects of the OG anime like Pegasus living after his duel with Bakura. Hell, at this point I'd take a "Kai" version of the english dub that removes the silly censorship and cuts down on the mindnumbing filler, leaving only the stuff that actually covers the material from the manga I also don't think any fan would object to them actually FINISHING some of the dubs they abandoned in order to hop on to the next show, like for the final seasons of both GX and 5DS
Here’s how I would do a Yugioh reboot. 1. I would begin a new story with the DM characters but begin the series fresh. It has to be DM; that’s what is culturally relevant. 2. The first set is called “Myth of the White Dragon”. I include support for five decks in this set: Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, Dark Magician, Gaia, and Exodia. 3. What people like about Yugioh is freedom from mana resources and engines that feel fulfilling to use. What people criticize modern yugioh for are long combos and winning in 1 turn. I would begin the game with answering both of those. I’d include engine cards akin to Dark Magical Circle and the White Stone of Ancients to make the decks feel fulfilling and intricate to use, but not so convoluted that you have to study a recipe to play the game. Cards should be individually powerful yet synergistic for short combos and plays like you’d see in Edison-HAT era. I’d even make the titular boss monsters with effect retrains; no one likes vanillas. The power level of decks should be set at a level similar to Edison. 4. Fans overall like Fusion/Synchro/XYZ and criticize Pendulum/Link. I would begin with the former three right away. This way I think appeases everybody. Anime/nostalgia appeal, you have the faces of yugioh actually being good decks for once, decks aren’t vanilla and boring, there’s intricate engines and counterplay for competitive players, and there’s collectibility for investors.
@jjasuka The Rush Duel Era animes don't take themself seriously what I noticed is that Sevens and Go Rush try to tell some kind of story then switches to comedy at times both series are inconsistent plot wise I have no hate against the format just the both series of the Rush Duel era when it came to plot Yugioh series in Studio Gallop Era knew how to keep the plot going
The only anime reboot Yugioh needs is a remake anime faithfully adapting the source manga. Why? Because the Toei and NAS/Gallop "adaptations" of the manga back in 1998 and 2000 altered Takahashi story and characters so much for the worse that there are 3 different canons of the original series. Not only that, they didn't even adapt every chapter of the manga. Yugioh was screwed from the start because when Shueisha decided to greenlight a TV anime, they decided to make it a multimedia project when Yugioh is a story series about playing various games. Its in the title. Yuugi Ou means Game King. Shueisha collaborated with Toei and Bandai to release the card game on the same day as the anime. Not only that, but because of the card game, it was shown in the anime more than in the manga during the 1st 59 chapters Toei was covering. The card game promotion is the reason why Yugioh aired at 6 PM and was censored. Yugioh needs to air at midnight (for the mature audience) in order for every chapter to be adapted faithfully. Konami has RUSH anime to target kids. Two types of Yugioh can co-exist. If you are a fan of Takahashi's work, it shouldn't be hard for you to comprehend that his original story was intentionally butchered twice and that it deserves to be animated, especially when the manga canon sequel The Dark Side of Dimensions is animated. This would also be the chance to animate Transcend Game. Takahashi's work deserves justice. You've had 26 years of card games being shoved into your face. Its time for manga fans to get their faithful adaptation about playing various games.
For a Yu-gi-oh! anime reboot, they should do a Bonds Beyond Time season where Yusai, Jaden, Yuma, and Yuya tag along due to time travel from Illiaster and Paradox causing problems for Kaiba. And due to the time travel, development of synchro, Xyz, and pendulum monsters would be accelerated due to the mere presence of Yusai, Yuma, and Yuya in their relative past. This could also accelerate the development of Ener-D. And for reboots of GX, 5Ds, Zexal, and Arc V; splicing the anime with the manga counterparts would be interesting.
to be honest I wish they would do more for lore because yugioh is a game that dosent have alot of it when you compare it to a game like magic I understand it would be cool if they did bring the original cast and it would get alot of people to watch again but truly a anime just going through the lore where each season is just on a archtype would actually open the story of yugioh up
There's 2 scenarios where I would want a reboot: 1. It's a full on faithful adaptation of the manga, including the original stuff before Duel Monsters, Yugioh R after battle city, and the proper millennium world arc because there's a few things in that arc particularly that just straight up don't show up in the anime at all. I think this will be the best bet for a reboot because it doesn't really disrespect Takahashi's vision at all; as long as Studio Gallop are the ones animating it and not Studio Bridge. 2. I would be interested in seeing a Reimagining of DM, what I mean by this is that the plot is exactly the same, the participants in each duels are the same but the cards and mechanics are taken from every era. So this means Kaiba Synchro Summoning, Yugi XYZ summoning etc with the modern support that they have today. I think this would be really interesting because you could make the duels engaging like DSOD, 8000 lp, actual strategy etc. Like imagine the battle City Finals and Marik is straight up using a good deck with Ra Support cards. Seems like a slam dunk to me.
Wouldnt it be cool to see 10 year olds go crazy over summoning a Dark magician or Blue eyes white dragon after watching the rebooted anime? Having a reboot not only pays homage to the original, but it will also get new younger players into the card game (non competitively ofc) by introducing them to a less convoluted mess of a game Yugioh became. It can show kids how yugioh started and how it was played when it first came out. Lets be honest, we all love the original anime but it has not aged very well. This could be a chance to fix some issues of the original and make an entertaining show for all ages, even OG fans. They can add and expand on the lore, give more backstory to each characters and give the show more depth. I would much prefer this than another season of "YuGiOh Delta Ninja 7". Im sure i'm not the only one sick and tired of the shows introducing "new convoluted mechanics" every new season... It gets very hard to follow even as a older fan.
there was no BS in the card games, those were just the rules of the formats the characters played, because we were not told in the anime what the rules of battle city and duelist kingdom are. because those do exist in the canon of the series. but because most people are not aware of this, then people assume it was cheating. I too would like for a reboot of Yu-Gi-Oh!. As someone who wants to enter into the animation industry someday, I have my own idea for a reboot/reimagining of Yu-Gi-Oh! and it's quite a unique one. It serves as both a reboot/reimagining of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! (as it stars most of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! crew again with Yugi, Yami Yugi/Atem, Joey, Kaiba, etc) and as a HUGE love letter to the ENTIRE franchise as it also includes ALL the elements, locations, and especially the characters from ALL the other Yu-Gi-Oh! incarnations. It's basically inspired by the Bonds Beyond Time movie, the Arc-V anime (with it's legacy characters concept) and Duel Links (with it's occasional crossover moments). It would give me a chance to explore unique character dynamics (like a rivalry between Joey and Chazz would be pure comedy gold), give characters that were VERY underused in the other series like Anna Kozuki (Anna Kaboom) from Zexal for example, more of a chance to shine here (and potentially even have her as part of the main group), and having Yugi and the others learning how to master the other summoning methods. I still have a lot more to think of with this concept, but I'll try my best. What do you all think?

The recent series with modern rules say otherwise. I never specified realistic gameplay would be required, it could still be romanced, although the last one features more realistic gameplay and people enjoyed it nonetheless so that's probably too categoric of a take all things considered.

While I would love a reboot I wouldn't say it needs a reboot but it just needs a new anime period. Ever since the end of Vrains the anime has taken such a back seat that you kind of forget there was one in the first place. Sure we have the rush duel animes but two problems with that the first being it was only like last year did we finally get a dub of the first rush duel anime and even now we do not have the rush duel cards. The anime made kids want to buy the cards weather it be because they loved the monsters they saw or because it made them interested to see what it was all about. Without the anime the game doesn't have a easy way to attract younger players. The anime is a gold mine for making new cards that can be later turned into legacy support and to attract to new players so to see it be so ignored is genuinely bizarre.

Dark Side of Dimensions movie showed how marketable Yugi was, Yugi was always awesome but to see him on his own showed how he is the GOAT and why Atem was so overprotective of Yugi. Atem saw a treasure in Yugi.
It would be nice if Konami take isekai concept, but it's in reverse, take yugi in real world, make him learn the new rules, new summoning, new strategies. And still be the king of games
There is a lot of material to work with when it comes down to the OG series so a reboot is possible. The show did not last that long so it never jumped the shark. It ended before it was starting to really take off. The other positive side is that majority of the original viewers were kids back then so they can really revamp the series and have more freedom in their writing now that original viewers are grown. That is how Dragonball Super became successful cause it respected it's older audience to write good enough material where they did not have to dumb down the original creativity of the Z series.
The OG series has the most marketable and successful characters with Yugi Moto, King Atem, Kaiba, Bakura and Pegasus. They can really give the franchise the right revitalization. There is a lot of material with Yugi Moto's story cause technically we never got to know his potential and plus his character was overlooked by Atem but Yugi showed potential to become a great duelist and also a potential mage. Yugi showed capabilities of possessing magic and tapping into his own powers. When it comes to King Atem, there is a lot of growth for them to write a series of him staying in the afterlife with his adventures or an alternative timeline where he never went back and fought side by side with Yugi.
I completely agree with Tristan!! I think he should also be "somewhat" acquainted with Duel Monsters so he isnt completely useless whenever he HAS to duel. Tea I also agree, she should be competent and able to beat most people but still overpowered by characters like Rebecca Hawkins, Mai Valentine and Weevil etc. Joey, dont change a THING!! and Yugi of course is Yugi. But i think they should also add Miho from Season 0! Tristan was in love with her in season 0 but I would have it where he eventually he gets over her and realizes being a simp gets him no where but embarrassment, to teach young boys to not worship their first crush and keep her character as a ditzy self absorbed pretty popular girl that is also crushing on Yugi which makes Tea later on have a "competition" with her friend for Yugis attention. Then we can have Joeys sister come in as well as Duke Devlin where we can have Tristan and Duke both vie for Serenities attention (Duke more so) where Serenity falls for Tristan instead in the end. MAI and her story i wouldnt change a thing!!! But this time, after Battle City she admits she loves Joey instead of the silly 4kids version where they were forced to say "friends" to keep it pg. We can also use some Mai and Joey tag duels.. fusing red eyes with some harpies would be cool. Also instead of starting the show from episode 1 with kaiba and grandpa the 4th blue eyes scenario... i'd make the first few episodes a remake of what we see in season 0 with the first two episodes an exact remake of season 0 with yugi in school trying to finish his Millenium puzzle, him not understanding hes being possessed by a spirit in his puzzle yet when he encounters scenarios like the Watch Thief, the YoYo gang, Tea held hostage in burger world, etc. All scenarios having absolutely nothing to do with duel monsters but everything to do with Yugi's Pharoah spirit possessing him, making him black out where he see him punish people with shadow magic this way its the perfect introduction to the shadow realm. Then we can add characters from season 0 into the show as the series goes on and becomes more about the actual Card game! Then Kaiba comes into the picture as the new rich student in a poor school as a way to show Gozaboro wanting to punish/teach Seto a lesson.
Imagine a live anime adaptation of Duel links, multiple characters will meet at the same time without any restrictions. I would like to see Yugi using his monsters with X yz summoning while Kaiba with his blue eyes with new synchro supports.
if they reboot Yugioh, they should mash DM and GX together, having Yugi and Kaiba attend duelist academy. Then you can mix in the gods vs the sacred beasts with the lore. Having Yugi,Marik,Bakura,and Kaiba being the top 4 duelists in reboot (Bakura would wield Raviel or Yubel) to counter the 3 gods
There is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game reboot: it's called Rush Duels and is currently the focus of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime Spinoffs (Sevens and GO Rush). The physical card version is currently only available in Japan, while you can play it digitally on the Switch (Yu-Gi-Oh! RUSH DUEL: Dawn of the Battle Royale!!) or on Duel Links. And if a Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters reboot happens I would wish for a new story, but story beats of the original (japanese) DM Anime could be incorporated. Maybe Konami can commission Studio Gallop again, the newest Spinoffs are animated by Studio Bridge.
Studio Gallop asked to end making Yugioh animes, they didn't had the budget and the working condictions was terrible. So I don't think contacting them will make it happen, it maybe. Not to mention, the anime's wasn't made for fun, they we're meant to make them money trough marketing. If the card game sales struggled without an anime then It would continue.

Tristan should be a duelist as well and should have a swamp/lava battleguard themed deck. It was really cool having those monsters in season 1, and it always annoyed me that they never came back in any way. Obviously, they would need a load of support to make them work, but I think it would be cool.
Man, the remake of OG Yu-Gi-Oh done by competent people would be very sicked. Japan Yu-Gi-Oh had a very epic opening such as Warriors and Overlap. There is still so much they can do with Yugi and Atem as they needs more potential developed. Also this is a good opportunity to fix lots of stuff as well. But the one Arc that I am gonna be excited for is the Battle City where we get to see the 3 Egyptian God Card with modern technology. Seriously, Battle City Arc might as well be called "Theomachia" if we're going for a new name. Finally, this is their opportunity as well to fix the Egyptian God Cards as in the anime, their effect were scatter and inconsistent at best. Who knows maybe they could even print out retrain Good Egyptian God Cards too. But this is all just wishing at this point.
I think them time traveling to Atem's world can work or them finding a way to the afterlife. Atem is given temporary assignment to help save Earth from the return of the Shadow games. There is a lot of material to be written.
Tristian adds alot to the dynamic. I like the fact hes so disconnected from yugioh he enjoys watching it he likes seeing skilled play. Hes the normal guys hes the spectator that represents the viewer watching imo
Yu-Gi-Oh needs a prime universe reimagining where Yugi uses the Xyz dark magician stuff and other newer cards where Kaiba uses the Synchro blue eyes stuff then archetypes like World chalice or Six Samurai gets their own Duelist character or same for relevant cool archetypes.
Just give me a Mai Valentine redemption arc or justice arc with some update harpies and I’m sold. She is an icon and deserved so much more. Plus we need to see her and Joey actually getting together
If they do a reboot i hope they do it in a simmilar way to how digimon did their 2020 reboot. With the same characters and updated decks with staple cards like hand traps can make way for the characters to use their decks in other ways I hope we js get sum along those lines
I really don't think a reboot really would be necessary or desirable since if the goal is just nostalgia then the old series exists, and if the goal is to bring in new fans then something more polished to appeal to the current market would make more sense. With the Japanese market in mind, a new anime focused on Master Rule instead of Rush Duel would make sense (since kids who were brought in by Rush Duel could be converted to the other series/game) but given how well the Bridge anime are doing I would want to run both "Yu-Gi-Oh Nine" and "Yu-Gi-Oh Ten" concurrently with Studio Gallop and Bridge both doing their own thing independently and Konami handling cross-marketing.
I just want the manga animated modernly in the honor of Takahashi (people and dubbing companies forget that anime in general are not for children unless they make them one but the old ones are expetions) and about the cards and deck. I think they should just modernize that as well and give everyone a signature one. I also liked the table format in DK it actually represents the actual card game.

I see the original Series getting a Remake, like how Naruto is getting a 'Kai', but I have a better idea in mind, A GX reboot. basically, a retelling of GX, where everyone plays a different playstyle, akin to the modern game. You may have to bring on a couple other duel writers (VRAINS literally made the main duel writer for 20 years nearly quit), but I think there's great potential, plus a way to bring back other archetypes to resell in the RW card game.

I agree on the monster anime; it’s a cool idea sure but to the average viewer something like albaz is about as special as seasonal isekai #5. The wider audience only recognizes Blue eyes becuase of the character that played the monster in the anime.

I would like to see Yami Yugi's ORIGINAL Egyptian past. What we saw in Season 5 was NOT how the events in Egypt actually happened. That Dark RPG was tampered with many times so thwre were some alterations to the Egyptian events. I would like to see hpw thw Egyptian events originally happened as well as how Atem swaled his soul into the Millennium Puzzle.
I would like the reboot to be solely based on the manga. No fillers.
I blame Tristan's seeming irrelevance on the fact that he tends to get completely wrecked in adaptations. Season 0 flanderized him to be this simp for a girl named Miho (Yellow Ribbon in the manga, I think she's called), who was a one off character originally but was made a core group member. When he was adapted for the Duel Monsters anime, he was closer to what he was, but because of the nature of his role, he became a shadow of his former self when 4Kids got him.
He's basically the big friend who's actually able to get in fist fights and not necessarily lose, he's also the friend for Joey who knocks sense into him when he's being... well, kinda stuck in his own head. If Joey represents new players, Tristan was supposed to represent people who don't play the game who could ask the dumb questions about the rules for the audience, especially during Duelist Kingdom.

I unironically kinda love the card lore.
I like the idea of Tristan being that friend who doesn't care about playing the game but still comes to support his friends anyways. That said, he should be more active in the show like when he punched the fake boulder and popped it and when he knocked out Bakura and threw away his Millennium Ring. He's a more physical character, so he should have more chances to do physical things, and maybe even make a game similar to Joey's battle from Battle City that became a fist fight wearing armor versions of your monsters and have that be Tristan's thing. Or just have him play basketball or something athletic, but use those skills to help the guys when things get physical. Also, make more physical things happen, like have Kaiba actually fall from the roof and Tristan sprint over to catch him. I mean, I don't recommend changing that scene specifically, but do stuff like that in other scenes. Remember when he scaled part of Pegasus's castle with Bakura and Tea? He actually did a lot in season 1, at least as they got closer to the end. Make that a more regular thing as the muscle of the group and they can even throw in a few moments when he's forced to duel and has to rely on what he learned watching the guys to try to compete with someone who outclasses him in every way (he can still lose) and another time where he fails as the group muscle and gets outmuscled and has a crisis over his usefulness cause of it. Lots of character arcs you can do with his character.
I really do hope they reboot the series one day and use more real rules from Battle City onwards. I still love the idea of Duelist Kingdom being Yugioh D&D
Tristan’s role was two things: being Joey’s friend and being a reliable sharpshooter.
Tristan is one of the few characters who knew what Joey was like before he straightened up.
He’s also the one who got Yugi and the gang past the first Death-T trial.
@@pn2294 yeah, emotionally, I get his role. I just think I'd like to see him get a little more spotlight that covers his actual interest and skills better. I still love the fact that he single handedly took down the series's main villain by skipping the card and shadow games and just straight up knocking him out and stealing his millennium item. That was so hardcore and it'd have been great to see him get a few more chances to shine like that in later seasons, even if it ended up being as long-term pointless later on as it ended up being in that encounter with Bakura.
I can't remember the Death-T thing, was that manga only? I've only read a few chapters of the original, actually, and it's been a long time since I've read or watched any Yugioh. I wanna go back to it after all this though

Great video! I myself have been poking away at a fan-rewrite on my spare time, and one of the biggest things I'd change is I would include more stories out of the early manga/season zero. I feel like the overall plot might flow better if even just a few of those early shadow games were properly included. Also, bring back the horror themes! Horror was such a huge part of the appeal of the original source material, and I feel incorporating more of those themes would help set a reboot apart from other yugioh animes!

If they are going to do a reboot, they should make it so modern Seto Kaiba and ancient Kisara have more interactions because those scenes were cut off due to the struggle to meet the original series's deadline.

Here’s how I would do a Yugioh reboot.
1. I would begin a new story with the DM characters but begin the series fresh. It has to be DM; that’s what is culturally relevant.
2. The first set is called “Myth of the White Dragon”. I include support for five decks in this set: Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, Dark Magician, Gaia, and Exodia.
3. What people like about Yugioh is freedom from mana resources and engines that feel fulfilling to use. What people criticize modern yugioh for are long combos and winning in 1 turn. I would begin the game with answering both of those. I’d include engine cards akin to Dark Magical Circle and the White Stone of Ancients to make the decks feel fulfilling and intricate to use, but not so convoluted that you have to study a recipe to play the game. Cards should be individually powerful yet synergistic for short combos and plays like you’d see in Edison-HAT era. I’d even make the titular boss monsters with effect retrains; no one likes vanillas. The power level of decks should be set at a level similar to Edison.
4. Fans overall like Fusion/Synchro/XYZ and criticize Pendulum/Link. I would begin with the former three right away.
This way I think appeases everybody. Anime/nostalgia appeal, you have the faces of yugioh actually being good decks for once, decks aren’t vanilla and boring, there’s intricate engines and counterplay for competitive players, and there’s collectibility for investors.
That sounds like it would hit all of the problems of the Digimon reboot.

I love the org series, it has the best characters.
The only anime reboot Yugioh needs is a remake anime faithfully adapting the source manga. Why? Because the Toei and NAS/Gallop "adaptations" of the manga back in 1998 and 2000 altered Takahashi story and characters so much for the worse that there are 3 different canons of the original series. Not only that, they didn't even adapt every chapter of the manga. Yugioh was screwed from the start because when Shueisha decided to greenlight a TV anime, they decided to make it a multimedia project when Yugioh is a story series about playing various games. Its in the title. Yuugi Ou means Game King. Shueisha collaborated with Toei and Bandai to release the card game on the same day as the anime. Not only that, but because of the card game, it was shown in the anime more than in the manga during the 1st 59 chapters Toei was covering. The card game promotion is the reason why Yugioh aired at 6 PM and was censored. Yugioh needs to air at midnight (for the mature audience) in order for every chapter to be adapted faithfully. Konami has RUSH anime to target kids. Two types of Yugioh can co-exist. If you are a fan of Takahashi's work, it shouldn't be hard for you to comprehend that his original story was intentionally butchered twice and that it deserves to be animated, especially when the manga canon sequel The Dark Side of Dimensions is animated. This would also be the chance to animate Transcend Game. Takahashi's work deserves justice. You've had 26 years of card games being shoved into your face. Its time for manga fans to get their faithful adaptation about playing various games.
If anything we need a live action. Gotta keep with the times

For a Yu-gi-oh! anime reboot, they should do a Bonds Beyond Time season where Yusai, Jaden, Yuma, and Yuya tag along due to time travel from Illiaster and Paradox causing problems for Kaiba. And due to the time travel, development of synchro, Xyz, and pendulum monsters would be accelerated due to the mere presence of Yusai, Yuma, and Yuya in their relative past. This could also accelerate the development of Ener-D. And for reboots of GX, 5Ds, Zexal, and Arc V; splicing the anime with the manga counterparts would be interesting.
I could not trust modern writing with a reboot. The esoteric symbolism is so rich and most writers try to keep things surface level
to be honest I wish they would do more for lore because yugioh is a game that dosent have alot of it when you compare it to a game like magic I understand it would be cool if they did bring the original cast and it would get alot of people to watch again but truly a anime just going through the lore where each season is just on a archtype would actually open the story of yugioh up
There's 2 scenarios where I would want a reboot:
1. It's a full on faithful adaptation of the manga, including the original stuff before Duel Monsters, Yugioh R after battle city, and the proper millennium world arc because there's a few things in that arc particularly that just straight up don't show up in the anime at all. I think this will be the best bet for a reboot because it doesn't really disrespect Takahashi's vision at all; as long as Studio Gallop are the ones animating it and not Studio Bridge.
2. I would be interested in seeing a Reimagining of DM, what I mean by this is that the plot is exactly the same, the participants in each duels are the same but the cards and mechanics are taken from every era. So this means Kaiba Synchro Summoning, Yugi XYZ summoning etc with the modern support that they have today. I think this would be really interesting because you could make the duels engaging like DSOD, 8000 lp, actual strategy etc.
Like imagine the battle City Finals and Marik is straight up using a good deck with Ra Support cards. Seems like a slam dunk to me.

Wouldnt it be cool to see 10 year olds go crazy over summoning a Dark magician or Blue eyes white dragon after watching the rebooted anime? Having a reboot not only pays homage to the original, but it will also get new younger players into the card game (non competitively ofc) by introducing them to a less convoluted mess of a game Yugioh became. It can show kids how yugioh started and how it was played when it first came out.
Lets be honest, we all love the original anime but it has not aged very well. This could be a chance to fix some issues of the original and make an entertaining show for all ages, even OG fans. They can add and expand on the lore, give more backstory to each characters and give the show more depth. I would much prefer this than another season of "YuGiOh Delta Ninja 7". Im sure i'm not the only one sick and tired of the shows introducing "new convoluted mechanics" every new season... It gets very hard to follow even as a older fan.

I too would like for a reboot of Yu-Gi-Oh!. As someone who wants to enter into the animation industry someday, I have my own idea for a reboot/reimagining of Yu-Gi-Oh! and it's quite a unique one. It serves as both a reboot/reimagining of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! (as it stars most of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! crew again with Yugi, Yami Yugi/Atem, Joey, Kaiba, etc) and as a HUGE love letter to the ENTIRE franchise as it also includes ALL the elements, locations, and especially the characters from ALL the other Yu-Gi-Oh! incarnations. It's basically inspired by the Bonds Beyond Time movie, the Arc-V anime (with it's legacy characters concept) and Duel Links (with it's occasional crossover moments). It would give me a chance to explore unique character dynamics (like a rivalry between Joey and Chazz would be pure comedy gold), give characters that were VERY underused in the other series like Anna Kozuki (Anna Kaboom) from Zexal for example, more of a chance to shine here (and potentially even have her as part of the main group), and having Yugi and the others learning how to master the other summoning methods. I still have a lot more to think of with this concept, but I'll try my best. What do you all think?

While I would love a reboot I wouldn't say it needs a reboot but it just needs a new anime period. Ever since the end of Vrains the anime has taken such a back seat that you kind of forget there was one in the first place. Sure we have the rush duel animes but two problems with that the first being it was only like last year did we finally get a dub of the first rush duel anime and even now we do not have the rush duel cards. The anime made kids want to buy the cards weather it be because they loved the monsters they saw or because it made them interested to see what it was all about. Without the anime the game doesn't have a easy way to attract younger players. The anime is a gold mine for making new cards that can be later turned into legacy support and to attract to new players so to see it be so ignored is genuinely bizarre.
It would be good .They could give more space to the others or new characters... Yugi, Seto and Joey were always followed... adding the new types of monsters from Syncro to Link

Dark Side of Dimensions movie showed how marketable Yugi was, Yugi was always awesome but to see him on his own showed how he is the GOAT and why Atem was so overprotective of Yugi. Atem saw a treasure in Yugi.
It would be nice if Konami take isekai concept, but it's in reverse, take yugi in real world, make him learn the new rules, new summoning, new strategies. And still be the king of games
If we can get an Invader Lum and Ranma 1/2 reboot, there is still hope for the Yu-Gi-oh!.
There is a lot of material to work with when it comes down to the OG series so a reboot is possible. The show did not last that long so it never jumped the shark. It ended before it was starting to really take off. The other positive side is that majority of the original viewers were kids back then so they can really revamp the series and have more freedom in their writing now that original viewers are grown. That is how Dragonball Super became successful cause it respected it's older audience to write good enough material where they did not have to dumb down the original creativity of the Z series.
The OG series has the most marketable and successful characters with Yugi Moto, King Atem, Kaiba, Bakura and Pegasus. They can really give the franchise the right revitalization. There is a lot of material with Yugi Moto's story cause technically we never got to know his potential and plus his character was overlooked by Atem but Yugi showed potential to become a great duelist and also a potential mage. Yugi showed capabilities of possessing magic and tapping into his own powers. When it comes to King Atem, there is a lot of growth for them to write a series of him staying in the afterlife with his adventures or an alternative timeline where he never went back and fought side by side with Yugi.
I completely agree with Tristan!! I think he should also be "somewhat" acquainted with Duel Monsters so he isnt completely useless whenever he HAS to duel.
Tea I also agree, she should be competent and able to beat most people but still overpowered by characters like Rebecca Hawkins, Mai Valentine and Weevil etc.

Then we can have Joeys sister come in as well as Duke Devlin where we can have Tristan and Duke both vie for Serenities attention (Duke more so) where Serenity falls for Tristan instead in the end.
MAI and her story i wouldnt change a thing!!! But this time, after Battle City she admits she loves Joey instead of the silly 4kids version where they were forced to say "friends" to keep it pg.
We can also use some Mai and Joey tag duels.. fusing red eyes with some harpies would be cool.
Also instead of starting the show from episode 1 with kaiba and grandpa the 4th blue eyes scenario... i'd make the first few episodes a remake of what we see in season 0 with the first two episodes an exact remake of season 0 with yugi in school trying to finish his Millenium puzzle, him not understanding hes being possessed by a spirit in his puzzle yet when he encounters scenarios like the Watch Thief, the YoYo gang, Tea held hostage in burger world, etc. All scenarios having absolutely nothing to do with duel monsters but everything to do with Yugi's Pharoah spirit possessing him, making him black out where he see him punish people with shadow magic this way its the perfect introduction to the shadow realm. Then we can add characters from season 0 into the show as the series goes on and becomes more about the actual Card game! Then Kaiba comes into the picture as the new rich student in a poor school as a way to show Gozaboro wanting to punish/teach Seto a lesson.
I think if they make an archetype of Angels for Tea that would be great.

Imagine a live anime adaptation of Duel links, multiple characters will meet at the same time without any restrictions. I would like to see Yugi using his monsters with X yz summoning while Kaiba with his blue eyes with new synchro supports.
if they reboot Yugioh, they should mash DM and GX together, having Yugi and Kaiba attend duelist academy. Then you can mix in the gods vs the sacred beasts with the lore. Having Yugi,Marik,Bakura,and Kaiba being the top 4 duelists in reboot (Bakura would wield Raviel or Yubel) to counter the 3 gods

There is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game reboot: it's called Rush Duels and is currently the focus of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime Spinoffs (Sevens and GO Rush).
The physical card version is currently only available in Japan, while you can play it digitally on the Switch (Yu-Gi-Oh! RUSH DUEL: Dawn of the Battle Royale!!) or on Duel Links.
And if a Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters reboot happens I would wish for a new story, but story beats of the original (japanese) DM Anime could be incorporated. Maybe Konami can commission Studio Gallop again, the newest Spinoffs are animated by Studio Bridge.
Studio Gallop asked to end making Yugioh animes, they didn't had the budget and the working condictions was terrible. So I don't think contacting them will make it happen, it maybe. Not to mention, the anime's wasn't made for fun, they we're meant to make them money trough marketing. If the card game sales struggled without an anime then It would continue.

to fix the card game is they need to stop reprinting cards every third set. They need bring back the collector tins that give you one secret rare card and 5 packs.

You might get more views short term on a Clickbait video, but I would’ve watched the same video had you had a title about “should yugioh reboot its anime” or “do kids want a yugioh reboot?” And that’s just off the top of my head. There’s plenty of ways to do this kind of video.

Tristan should be a duelist as well and should have a swamp/lava battleguard themed deck. It was really cool having those monsters in season 1, and it always annoyed me that they never came back in any way. Obviously, they would need a load of support to make them work, but I think it would be cool.
Man, the remake of OG Yu-Gi-Oh done by competent people would be very sicked. Japan Yu-Gi-Oh had a very epic opening such as Warriors and Overlap.
There is still so much they can do with Yugi and Atem as they needs more potential developed. Also this is a good opportunity to fix lots of stuff as well.
But the one Arc that I am gonna be excited for is the Battle City where we get to see the 3 Egyptian God Card with modern technology. Seriously, Battle City Arc might as well be called "Theomachia" if we're going for a new name.
Finally, this is their opportunity as well to fix the Egyptian God Cards as in the anime, their effect were scatter and inconsistent at best. Who knows maybe they could even print out retrain Good Egyptian God Cards too.
But this is all just wishing at this point.
I think them time traveling to Atem's world can work or them finding a way to the afterlife. Atem is given temporary assignment to help save Earth from the return of the Shadow games. There is a lot of material to be written.
A reboot that was more true to the original manga would be nice to see. That & season 0.
Tristian adds alot to the dynamic. I like the fact hes so disconnected from yugioh he enjoys watching it he likes seeing skilled play. Hes the normal guys hes the spectator that represents the viewer watching imo

Yu-Gi-Oh needs a prime universe reimagining where Yugi uses the Xyz dark magician stuff and other newer cards where Kaiba uses the Synchro blue eyes stuff then archetypes like World chalice or Six Samurai gets their own Duelist character or same for relevant cool archetypes.

What we really all want is a reboot on the game rules. HAHAHA

If they do a reboot i hope they do it in a simmilar way to how digimon did their 2020 reboot. With the same characters and updated decks with staple cards like hand traps can make way for the characters to use their decks in other ways I hope we js get sum along those lines
I really don't think a reboot really would be necessary or desirable since if the goal is just nostalgia then the old series exists, and if the goal is to bring in new fans then something more polished to appeal to the current market would make more sense.
With the Japanese market in mind, a new anime focused on Master Rule instead of Rush Duel would make sense (since kids who were brought in by Rush Duel could be converted to the other series/game) but given how well the Bridge anime are doing I would want to run both "Yu-Gi-Oh Nine" and "Yu-Gi-Oh Ten" concurrently with Studio Gallop and Bridge both doing their own thing independently and Konami handling cross-marketing.
I just want the manga animated modernly in the honor of Takahashi (people and dubbing companies forget that anime in general are not for children unless they make them one but the old ones are expetions) and about the cards and deck. I think they should just modernize that as well and give everyone a signature one. I also liked the table format in DK it actually represents the actual card game.

I see the original Series getting a Remake, like how Naruto is getting a 'Kai', but I have a better idea in mind, A GX reboot.
basically, a retelling of GX, where everyone plays a different playstyle, akin to the modern game. You may have to bring on a couple other duel writers (VRAINS literally made the main duel writer for 20 years nearly quit), but I think there's great potential, plus a way to bring back other archetypes to resell in the RW card game.

I agree on the monster anime; it’s a cool idea sure but to the average viewer something like albaz is about as special as seasonal isekai #5. The wider audience only recognizes Blue eyes becuase of the character that played the monster in the anime.
