Valuable lesson in repurposing and another in making wire into a coil for jump rings and chain making. Thanks again nick I really appreciate your taking time to share with us
thanks for your comment Hector, everyone has different ways for coiling jump rings, I made this tool for another project a while ago however it comes in useful for all sorts of stuff … all the best … Nick
I have to make myself a couple of those. I have seen you make some amazing twists. Recycling centre for me tomorrow. And the scrap yard as well. All the best. A
nothing quite like turning old damage tools into something useful … N
Nick that is so cool thank you so much for that video !!! Going to have to get me some junk drills. ❤
cheers Tim, nothing quite like making useful tools out of junk … N
Thank you!
You're welcome … N
You da man!

wish I was so handy and smart.
hi JSL, I suppose everyone has different attributes, I like being handy but I’m not so smart. my iPad does all my spelling and writing for me … Nick

Never chuck a good chuck!🤣 Cool tool mate!
thanks for that Monty, that gave me a good chuckle … a now chuckling Nick.😆
Thanks Nick! As it so happens I have a dead drill.
hi Shaun, I find it hard to let go of beloved tools that have passed away.
Nice to instigate reincarnation when possible … N
Useful tip. I have made a jig using an old drill chuck. I mounted the chuck spindle though a hole in a piece of wood and made a crank handle fixed to the drill spindle. To use it mount block of wood in the vice and simply turn the crank. Cheers Jim
Nice one Jim, i’m sure that works very well. i’ve seen a few variations on your idea even Durston have copied it and brought out a tool called a jump ring former … Nick
@@Nickscreativestuff . True. Always good to recycle old parts.
i’m the same Jim, much prefer to recycle old parts for a new tool instead of spending lots of money on a new shiny trendy tool I may not use much … cheers … Nick
Nice tool... I do it with my bailmaker. If I have once the courage I will make a video for how to do it... once... perhaps... lol
thanks Malika, how many different ways are there to make jump rings.
definitely make a video the more the merrier when it comes to finding a technique to try … all the best … Nick
@@Nickscreativestuff once I have the courage I will... lol... it's the filming that us a problem... 🤪
I just press the button on my phone and away it goes … and then onto my iPad for a bit of editing … hope you have a go … Nick
@@Nickscreativestuff it's the editingpart I dont like. O don't have a pc ... so I do everything on my phone... it's small...
i’ve not made a short on my phone but it’s supposed to be possible some now … N
Great use of an old drill chuck. I have a couple and will be making one of these. What is the rod that is marked 6 1/2 mm? I’ve seen you use these in other videos as well and would like to get some. Thanks.
I’m surprised how much I use this chuck now, comes in useful for all sorts of projects. The 6 1/2mm rod is an aluminium knitting needle, cheap and readily available in a lot of craft stores … cheers … Nick
I feel dumb; It never occurred to me to just get one off an old drill, even though it seems so obvious.🤦♂ I only ever thought of buying a chuck online, but I didn't want to spend the money because this is just a hobby for me.
hi Levi thanks for that … me too being a hobbyist I like to save money by making something … if I can instead of buying it … however long it takes … cheers … Nick
It's easier to just use a cordless drill
there are many ways to skin a banana … N
A whole lot of work for nearly nothing. You don't need to do all that work to make your own jump rings. Simply hold a piece of something the right diameter in a vice (or your hand) and wrap the silver wire around it. - job done! Phil (from philongold)
hi Phil, I primarily made this for holding drills and tools for when turning wood on my lathe. however it comes in useful for all sorts of stuff … N
Phil, I find that when you need to make many jump rings that this type of tool can really be useful.
