      Basic tools in this videos doesn't mean stuff that everyone would have at home. They are very basic jeweler tools that can be had for not very much money to be honest. The point of the videos is to show how can make this ring using the cheaper tools to do the same thing as the professional tools but at the same time showing why professional tools can be very handy for time saving or making things easier.

    My purpose isn't to be negative, but please don't title "basic tools"and then proceed to use dozens of special chemicals and shop tools. Torches, special mallets, soldering tools, vices, ring sizers and shapers, annealing and flux solutions, etc etc. Not to mention the specialized tools you used, even if you offered other solutions, those alternatives don't all achieve the same results. I enjoyed the video otherwise but I definitely can't make that ring with my "basic tools"

      @@GomeowCreations I understand OP's stance on this. Using the phrase Basic Tools implies equipment most folk would have around their home. "Basic jeweler's tools" would be more accurate.

    i used to make celtic rings from silver wire when i was younger. my grandparents used to own a craft shop that sold everything. sadly when they passed away most of the stuff in the shop was thrown into a skip as my aunty had no idea of what was in the shop. they chucked loads of silver wire and tools into the trash. i was so gutted. lost so many tools from the shop. i must get back into making stuff again. these days i tend to use computers and resin printers and then have them cast. miss the old ways. well not that old but old if ya know what i mean. thanks for a great video.

    Only apprenticeship I could get was as a Toolmaker. No regrets as my hand skills through that trade allowed me to be a carpenter, a Welder, wooden boat builder, fibreglass, panel beater, stone letter engraver, antique item repairer. Medical grade Welder too. Also a rifle stock Carver grips and forend, Boat name Engraver.

      Sadly not any wire will work. You have to be able to solder it so you can use gold, silver, copper or brass.

    These are really cool rings, I am wondering if there's essentially simpler versions that can be made for those with *truly basic* tools. I have wire, pliers, hammers, and some other stuff but I'm brand new to wire and the materials you needed are far outside my perview and ability to get them. They do look great though.

    May I ask why you solder the ‘sticks’ first and then again solder the rings together ? I only have copper wire now and i’m’wondering if all that silver solder - including on the ‘sticks’ won’t show too much. Grateful for your video ! Thank you.

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  2 года назад +3

      I just solder the hem as sticks to keep them tight so when you hammer it down it will not split. The copper one you see in this video was made for n the some way and I was able to clean it up so you can't see any of the solder. 😁👍

    LOL - is this a joke? You used thousands of dollars of specialized tools. This is one of the biggest 'didn't deliver' bait-switch videos on YT. It is absolutely possible to make this ring with NO special jewelers tools, including NO special jewelry solder paste, and NO high-temp torch, NO special sulfur solution, I have a feeling _you just don't know how_ to do it.

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  11 месяцев назад +1

      I used both basic and pro tools to show people that they can do the same thing with both.
      Also if you are making quality jewelry you need a torch and high temp solder silver solder, it doesn't have to be paste solder. That being said you better not be suggesting using soft solder for electronic or plumbing. You can use a different torch for sure and I used my $20 propane torch all the time.
      Anyways I will be waiting for your detailed video all about how to do this without using any jewelers tools. Make sure to tag me in it.

    Comments saying "tools are not basic" these are basic jewelr tools, he doesn't make hippie jewelry you find at edm festivals, hes a real jewler by trade.
    Its just like a seamstress saying basic tools, doesn't mean you're going to only need needle and thread, your probably going to need a sewing machine and Scotchgard like sprays which are essential in the specific craft.
    These are basic, basic for the jewlers trade.

    My grandson wanted to make swords but it’s morphed into metals more for jewelry, and I’d like to help him along with achieving that dream. Would you have a list of basic tools that I could go by and 1) see what I already have here in my toolbox that I can provide for him readily? 2) A list of simple starter needs for like the fire sources…?
    I just want to be gathering items together before the end of this school year. Senior yr is stressful enough for any young kid, but not having an outlet to express one’s creativity or angst, etc is depressing even for me to remember! I’d like to see him lost out in the garage for hours at a time, and coming out with something to show for the time we’ll spent.
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Mimi Jones

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  2 года назад +2

      I don't have a current list of tools that I suggest for starters, but that might be a good video to make sometime soon.
      When it comes to torches you might want to look into some plumbing torches to start, propane and mapp gas. Butane will work but it also takes a lot of time and won't put out enough heat for a lot of projects.
      I would also suggest sharing my channel with him so see if my videos might help get some ideas going along with seeing what tools I used.
