The dots are holes in the walls that are literally called Putlog holes because logs were placed there to support scaffolding while the walls were built higher and higher.

The holes would have been filled as the scaffolding was removed. Smaller rocks would have been used these are darker. Leaving the holes would allow water in and damage the walls.

Wonderful. These loose sketches often have more atmosphere than detailed work. Thanks.

Very good job. I like how you did it as much as how it turned out.

I really like how you added color and shadow using a brush marker. I think that I need to try that. Thank you! I really enjoy seeing your portrait sketches!

I love loose sketching and adding watercolour to it. Watercolour is a perfect compliment to illustrations or urban sketching. My fav subject are birds to do like that, often with no background at all. Although a plain pen and ink sketch is equally good. Straight lines rarely look right, I think. It's more natural and organic without. Wonky is good. Love the sketch, Brandon

Like the sketch a lot, especially when you added the texture to it. Also liked the addition of the watercolor. But I don’t understand why you darkened the shadowside of the building with that brushpen instead of a darker watercolorlayer!
Also that is definitely not a church 😂😂. It’s a castle!

I just experimenting and didn't want to overwork it with the watercolor, as I said. So that's why I tried it :)

Great video! Question, what type of pen are you using for the line work?

I presume you traced the picture to start with. Is that correct?

No, I usually always freehand draw all my art. The reference photo was on my computer, I never printed it out to be able to trace.
