- In an interview with Democracy Now, UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territory Francesca Albanese describes Israel pushing Palestinians out of Gaza to other Arab states as racist forced displacement and the Israeli conquest of Gaza as 'pure madness and utterly illegal'. Since October 7, Israel has conducted air strikes and ground attacks that claimed the lives of over 21,000 Palestinians in Gaza including 8,500 children.

The UN itself approved the establishment of the State of Israel. Israel is a country that has the right to defend itself, and that is what it is doing. The Palestinians are a bunch of violent terrorists who lie to the whole world that they have existed for thousands of years, that in practice they identified themselves as Palestinians only in 1964. They never owned this land. Before Israel there were the British and before them the Ottomans, before them the Mamluks, until you reach the Jewish kingdom that was conquered by Rome.....

At least this lady and the UN is trying really hard and speaking up, the problem is the USA and its followers UK and Germany and others. The USA with their veto has made the UN security council useless. The whole idea of the UN was that atrocious inhumane actions would not happen again. The UN is simply not allowed to do it job by investigating and advocating for peace and international law and obligations to be adhered to and respected, all because the USA has become the lapdog of Israel and is allowing Israel to ignore all basic rights and rules and even when the whole world says this is madness it has to stop nothing can be done because of the USA veto plus unconditional support. The UN is paralyzed and needs to get rid of anyone having veto, it should be majority votes that's when nations will work together for peace instead of filling the pockets of weapon makers to make endless war.

They want that piece of land very badly. Perhaps for other infrastructure reasons; canal to the sea and other practical reasons; buffer zone and other profit making possibilities and of course the coast line to enjoy and own. The sheer gall, to arrive in another land and build your own nation in someone else's land that one's ancestors or adopted ancestors lived in over 1200 years ago.
