Its funny cus the core game hasn't changed much... its still a lot of shooting rocks and penisaurus rex encounters lol. I actually have about 600 hours in the game and after about 420 hours it really picks up with 9 new races and you get to kill Preston garvey. Gamers these days have got no patience...
Shouldn't have to break this to people now days, but 10 hours is PLENTY of time to get into a game. In fact you don't need that much. In just a few hours, you know full well what kind of game it is, and whether or not you should bother going through the rest of it.

They have refunded me before. It says that you can still request a refund even if you don't meet the under 2 hour thing and they will consider it unless it has changed recently. I've gotten a refund for a few games where I went over 2 hours.
Well I guess that's why you didn't get a review copy. They knew their game was shit and didn't want people to see through their lies. This is actually the first criticism I'm hearing about the gameplay, nobody else seemed to be able to get that far.

I think Total Biscuit said it best "when you're vague with your game, people will fill in the blanks and start imagining a perfect game." That's exactly what happened with NMS, the devs did an excellent job of being really selective with their information, so people got this romantic, space-opera image that's nothing but pure joy, adventure and exploration, but what we got was a mediocre grindy survival game. We've been had guys, big time.

I can confirm this, it's a wank console port even on good PC's. The stutters I had were horrible. The life I've seen is shit and I've seen like 1 creature on each planet. Already refunded, this game is a fucking disgrace to the gaming industry.

Actually the old e3 trailers looked pretty good. But that's because you can't even do some of the shit in them. Nor will you ever find a planet that looks that good.

But yet still every one was hyped about not knowing anything. Being hyped about a video game is just as bad as being hyped about being in love. Because it's all an illusion for infantalizing Hopefuls.
The only thing multiplier will do is have assholes running around and killing you, if they allow pvp of course and only if you are lucky and meet anybody as well.
Tip There are lots of extras to find that you can sell at the traders and then exchange your ship for a much bigger one with a lot more inventory spaces. Yes I know that this game isn't for everyone, but I certainly like what I have found so far despite it's shortcomings.
I'm guessing you pre-ordered based on the dev's vague bullshittery and hype, then played it for too long to be able to get a refund and now you're stuck with your shit investment and feel like you have to defend it. It's 3d Starbound with significantly less gameplay and no multiplayer and 3 times the pricetag. Admit it, it's fucking garbage, you'll feel so much better once you just admit it.
This games install archive is 2,8 GB. At that moment everyone with half brain understood that this game with "millions of planets" in fact will have 1 planet reskined million times.

To the people bitching that he's "always so negative", please check out the review for Earth Defense Force. That's a *great* game where he knew very little about it going in, proceeded to give it a fair shake and then got won over by its brilliance (and it is brilliant). How many other reviewers would do that?
I don't think it's a bad game, my experience on PS4 was pretty good. I don't think it's worth $60 but it is fun and they plan on doing free future updates like minecraft and terraria.
You know those building CAN AND WILL have aliens in them on the planets, also in a space station you CAN go inside a building and talk to aliens who ARE in front of desks.

At least Elite: Dangerous didn't lie to the public about how amazing it would be before release. No Man's Sky hyped the shit out of this game. Every review says the same thing. The game isn't bad, the problem is it's just not a 60$ game. If you don't care about money and like relaxing exploration games then it can be a good game for you. I personally refunded because of the performence problems and the money.

A lot look different. They a certainly not all just fillled with a "dead yellow alien" There are several advanced alien lifeforms that can offer you different services depending on you standing with that race. Learning their language via knowledhe stones also lets you more accurately guess what they want. He complained that the traders wernt sat behind a desk. Even in most Space stations there are traders sat behind desks. Things like that.

And the vast majority will be the same shape as others. There's like 6-7 different shapes. And they aren't that dramatic of a shape difference.
The game feels like its from a mobilegame developer who forgot to put in the Microtransactions. Buy 10 Warpcores for only $2.99!!! Buy 1 Hr Launchthruster Fuel $0.99! Buy 100 new Words for only $4.99! Its barely fun. The controls are aweful, they ignore 30 years of flight and spaceship controles that have been ingrained into our bodies and souls. This game could have been so much better if they just cranked the realism between Kerbal Space Program and X:Tension(best X game IMO). Anyway, i will see how moddable the game is (since i got suckered into buying it) to fix the fuck out of this disaster. Its not a shit game, dont get me wrong the Engine despite everything is Superb and the "game" is a Cool Tech Demo. Thats unfortunatly only Barely Fun (but pretty to look at at times)

He literally said it would have multiplayer. This wasn't "oh he implied it". The reviewer asked if you could run into other players in the game, and he said yes. He never said otherwise, there was never an announcement saying "no multiplayer". People have checked outgoing data for the game. It doesn't even tell the game servers where you are. People have met on the same worlds and the other person is nonexistant. You can go to a world somebody else has been on, and everything they looted is as if they didn't.
I honestly don't get what people were expecting, game developers and publishers have been fucking consumers in the ass with impunity for the last decade or so. Also, the game was made by 15 people. There's only so much work 15 people can put into a game, no wonder it's lacking in many aspects.

I will be honest i pirated this game and got bored after a couple of hours realising every planet in every system is habitable and its so boring, finding life is not exciting at all, you know what i mean, it would be so much cooler if habitable planets were rare. Game is boring as fuck, there are no binary star systems, no gas giants, what kind of universe is this AND YOU KNOW GUYS?! YOU KNOW WHAT? Its not even a universe, its just an infinite galaxy, which is even more dumb, when they call it universe, these people have no idea about space at all, fucks sake, at least they could open wikipedia and read about astronomy a bit before making this game, maybe its just me, but i find space engine more entertaining that this, and that game is fucking FREE. The only fun aspect of this game is finding planets with funny names that other people have discovered.

For a game created by an indie studio and much hype following it, I think the developers did a good job at keeping the game consistent with the prior gameplay videos shown before release. Once I get my hands on this game, I look forward to space battles, getting an awesome ship, and going to the center of the universe(after exploring many planets). If you're going into this game without any goals of your own and would rather have a hand-holding story progression this probably isn't your type of game. It's more or less a sandbox game, so freedom is a main component among other things.

You obviously haven't put enough time into the game to form an opinion. I've personally only played 300 hours and already I've gotten an upgrade that really changes the dynamic of the game play mechanics; my mining gun now shoots a slightly different coloured beam.
Imagine if all sci fi tv shows were like this. Next episode of star trek they will be exploring a planet like every other planet with a dickosaurus and mine for supplies like every other episode. 10/10 IGN.

Procgen is not that heavy, you can fit a full universe generator in 64 kB. Just see Elite.

This cannot be saved, unless they charge you 10 euros for it and refund the rest and even then it cannot be saved.
The only thing multiplier will do is have assholes running around and killing you, if they allow pvp of course and only if you are lucky and meet anybody as well.

There are lots of extras to find that you can sell at the traders and then exchange your ship for a much bigger one with a lot more inventory spaces.
Yes I know that this game isn't for everyone, but I certainly like what I have found so far despite it's shortcomings.

That's a *great* game where he knew very little about it going in, proceeded to give it a fair shake and then got won over by its brilliance (and it is brilliant). I don't think it's a bad game, my experience on PS4 was pretty good. I don't think it's worth $60 but it is fun and they plan on doing free future updates like minecraft and terraria.

You know those building CAN AND WILL have aliens in them on the planets, also in a space station you CAN go inside a building and talk to aliens who ARE in front of desks.

Totally agree. Mac himself is a fan of that well known grind fest, Elite: Dangerous! Put that game in the hands of your average COD gamer and they wouldn't give it the time of day. Hello Games have attempted to make Elite for more casual players, and they've thrown it back in the developers face like a spoiled brat! Meanwhile, those that love space sims are actually loving NMS.
It's wank, tell me something fun about the game? No pvp, bad ai, bad combat, bad performance, bad graphics, NO MULTIPLAYER AT ALL, repeatedly doing the exact same thing over and over and over, etc. Please tell me something other than "I like to explore!" That's not a real response the planets are all reskins of the last.
At least Elite: Dangerous didn't lie to the public about how amazing it would be before release. No Man's Sky hyped the shit out of this game. Every review says the same thing. And for a $60 game, you would expect a fuck tonne more content (not under the guise of a stupid amount of planets). This game never advertised saying it was a mining simulator. Yeah you get to fly in a ship, but exploring the same shitty planets over and over and mining over and over, then working out there are quintillions of these kinds of planets... yeah they fucked up.
The problem is that NMS is not even close to a space sim either, it doesn't even have a proper flight system or even FLIGHTSTICK support. DID YOU HEAR THAT, NO FLIGHTSTICK SUPPORT FOR A GAME WHERE YOU FLY AROUND. Wtf were they thinking. The people who like space sims will still probably stick to elite because there are actually unique things to explore in elite that doesnt look like a 5 year old ate some crayons and vomited on your monitor.
YEAH BUT MOST OTHER SURVIVAL GAMES ARE AS GRINDING INTENSIVE NOR COST 60 DOLLARS

The game isn't bad, the problem is it's just not a 60$ game. If you don't care about money and like relaxing exploration games then it can be a good game for you. I personally refunded because of the performence problems and the money.

+Lord Floyd The planets are not rocky but different colours. I have seen barren planets. Snowy planets. Jungle planets. Radioactive glowy planets.
The buildings are not all the same. A lot look different. They a certainly not all just fillled with a "dead yellow alien" There are several advanced alien lifeforms that can offer you different services depending on you standing with that race. Learning their language via knowledhe stones also lets you more accurately guess what they want.
He complained that the traders wernt sat behind a desk. Even in most Space stations there are traders sat behind desks.

The buildings are all nearly the same. I can put every building I've found, and every building I've seen in videos side by side. Not one of them will be made out of a different material. And the vast majority will be the same shape as others. There's like 6-7 different shapes. And they aren't that dramatic of a shape difference.
The game feels like its from a mobilegame developer who forgot to put in the Microtransactions.

Its barely fun. The controls are aweful, they ignore 30 years of flight and spaceship controles that have been ingrained into our bodies and souls.
This game could have been so much better if they just cranked the realism between Kerbal Space Program and X:Tension(best X game IMO). Anyway, i will see how moddable the game is (since i got suckered into buying it) to fix the fuck out of this disaster.

He didnt falsely advertise. Hell he barely advertised at all. Built sentences, and left 1 word in, leaving you with lots of blanks.And you happily filled those blanks in for what would be ideal for you. And everyone fucking did it. He played the gaming industry so motherfucking hard that in my book he has to be one of the smartest and biggest scam artists to have existed. I can tell you, he will likely take the money and live a good life now.
He literally said it would have multiplayer. This wasn't "oh he implied it". The reviewer asked if you could run into other players in the game, and he said yes. He never said otherwise, there was never an announcement saying "no multiplayer".
People have checked outgoing data for the game. It doesn't even tell the game servers where you are. People have met on the same worlds and the other person is nonexistant. You can go to a world somebody else has been on, and everything they looted is as if they didn't.
I honestly don't get what people were expecting, game developers and publishers have been fucking consumers in the ass with impunity for the last decade or so.
Also, the game was made by 15 people. There's only so much work 15 people can put into a game, no wonder it's lacking in many aspects.

I will be honest i pirated this game and got bored after a couple of hours realising every planet in every system is habitable and its so boring, finding life is not exciting at all, you know what i mean, it would be so much cooler if habitable planets were rare. Game is boring as fuck, there are no binary star systems, no gas giants, what kind of universe is this AND YOU KNOW GUYS?! YOU KNOW WHAT? Its not even a universe, its just an infinite galaxy, which is even more dumb, when they call it universe, these people have no idea about space at all, fucks sake, at least they could open wikipedia and read about astronomy a bit before making this game, maybe its just me, but i find space engine more entertaining that this, and that game is fucking FREE.
The only fun aspect of this game is finding planets with funny names that other people have discovered.

For a game created by an indie studio and much hype following it, I think the developers did a good job at keeping the game consistent with the prior gameplay videos shown before release. Once I get my hands on this game, I look forward to space battles, getting an awesome ship, and going to the center of the universe(after exploring many planets). If you're going into this game without any goals of your own and would rather have a hand-holding story progression this probably isn't your type of game. It's more or less a sandbox game, so freedom is a main component among other things.
This may have been the most amazing review I've ever seen. It's neck and neck with your Just Cause 3 review which is the review by which all other reviews shall be judged : )
You obviously haven't put enough time into the game to form an opinion. I've personally only played 300 hours and already I've gotten an upgrade that really changes the dynamic of the game play mechanics; my mining gun now shoots a slightly different coloured beam.
You should be able to tell if you're gonna like it or not in the first hour.That's no excuse for the boring start.
