You're like the Gordon Ramsay of games.
This is my favorite game review channel. Ever.
Mack, seriously?!
1 - No wheel support
2 - No in-car cam
3 - No manual shift
That's not even a racing game. That's just a glorified app.
+Flick Need for Speed Hot Pursuit was just like that, and I actually really enjoyed that game. (....although it was my first NFS game I've played, and I only paid a few dollars for it...). Need for Speed is supposed to be an arcade racer with emphasis on driving fast and fun ridiculous drifting.
Are you serious? Are you serious??? That's because Hot Pursuit was your first ever NFS experience and I can bet it wasn't one of the originals. If you had been playing the original NFSs, you would never, EVER say this. Basically you're saying - it is meant to be shit.
+Nathan Martin Great minds think alike :D
+GamingTaylor You have a poor first impression of NFS, I played them all up to Shift 2 (which was amazing) then they just grabbed Burnout Paradise, changed the car & environment textures & that was all. More and more people will be making buying choices based on the shit that comes out these days simoky because they don't know ow any better. It's the same with movies, I judge things based on The Terminator, Star wars 4,5 & 6, Alien/s, The Matrix (excellent examples of their genre) what have you got not WarZ, Matt Damon in a space suit again 2016, generic straight the DVD Sci fi channel shit. That's a bent yardstick to say the least :-p
Glorified app, love it.
"what if me son walks in and asks DAD, WHAT ARE WATCHING THAT SHIAT FOR?"
Had me tears.
The phonecall reenactments and the livingroom story killed me. x.x
Im laying low man, heat from the cops, heat from the cops, heat from the cops
+MangoTangoFox I was in tears when I was editing this :)
Is the bell ok?
+yakza5 He trashed it hard on this video. well done Need For Speed
Mack's imitation/voice acting skills are truly unparalleled. And this is perhaps the most hilarious review he has ever done... I had cramps laughing so hard while watching this and visualising Mack's every over the top reactions ....
EA - enough said.
always online? And game is dead for me....
Yeah, I hate those type of games.
Especially since games like _Need For Speed_ didn't start out as '"always online".
+ltanderl If only more gamers were that consequent, we didn't have to endure microtransactions, tiny DLCs and preorder shite either...
+Paradox Acres Me too, f**k the always online games
+Bunker Knacker at least i am not alone really hope more gamers will wake up soon. So Stupid the preorderes and and endless stream of dlcs..... A few years ago things that they sell us now as dlc where in the game package or came with an update. So damn stupid.....
Tell me about it. I'm in university and can't connect my ps4 to the Internet so I can't even play it. They've lost a big margin
6:25 best. thing. ever.
This video is legendary
Mafia! Now there was a classic. Great writing, characters, locations, story, cars, missions...I was blown away.
+Chivas6 Running out of fuel, its the only freeworld game that i have come across that you can a) run out of fuel in and b) get pulled over for speeding. It's almost 15 fucking years old too. The gaming industry these days is fucked.
nxtmassnz
Yeah, I think it was a points based system too. You could get pulled over and fined a small amount for a minor offence like speeding and even running red lights. But multiple minors would culminate in arrest. Way ahead of it's time for sure.
*****
Yeah Driver was awesome. Before I had the full game, I played the demo about a billion times. It was a timed demo that lasted about 60 seconds I think.
***** Oh, I wasn't aware of that.
I agree. I'd played it before II though, but haven't finished it either. It was a revolutionary game for it's time, and regarding some of the concepts, even today! The world today also needs a Hidden & Dangerous 3.
Mack this may be one of your best yet. Honestly have you ever thought about doing stand up comedy or something? You are a natural comedian and my favorite RUclipsr by far. I wish you did more than just games I could hear you talk about stuff for hours it's that entertaining, better than anything on TV or RUclips/Twitch.
Oh my god, the acting is so *bad!* :D
They should've just made everything _animated_ and got some decent Voice Actors to play the characters.
Imagine a Telltale-style dialogue section every time you finish a big race; you get to fist bump who you want or just thrash talk the whole time.
+RFC3514 I refuse to believe these people got paid for that. They had to be interns from a college.
+Paradox Acres It is not like peoples have tried to do it for first time, there are few other games that have done it and nothing good came out of it!You just can not combine thous things if you are not ready to invest huge amount of money for sake of quality and it is not worth it!They probably tried to save money on this, good animation costs!
+Paradox Acres well it's always been so "bad" it comes out on the other side and just becomes amazing lol so I don't really mind.
Brian LO That's true, I guess :)
"Let's read." *ding ding*
"The heat from the cops, I'm laying low bro." XDDDDDD.
THE COPS! THE HEAT! THE HEAT FROM THE COPS!
Agree with mack.. WTF is up with 24/7 night time? its like NFS carbon all over again.
+விஷ்ணு கார்த்திக் I didn't even bother with Carbon for that reason alone.
Signs you never played PS2
+விஷ்ணு கார்த்திக் Although it's a long time ago, i actually really enjoyed NFS carbon. I played with friends multiplayer, and then most of the time the mode that one is the guy who must try to outrun the police, while the others were all policecars.
Was the old NFS Most Wanted also not only in night time? Don't know for sure, but never did bother me one bit.
+CodyProxyify Old most wanted was day-time. I think Underground 2 and Carbon were both only night. Original MW is my favorite from the series. The open roads and massive map.. I did actually like the crew system in Carbon though, with the territories and teammates.
the reason illegal street racing is set at night is because there's less traffic on the roads.
I have never laughed so hard in my life at a video on youtube
"Man dies from blood clot while watching IGN's game of the year."
The kiddies want to see the car when it drifts, so thats why they don't include the in-car view. This is not a game for us adults, it's for children.
Mack is one of the only reviewers who speaks his mind about the industry cliche's and that's why worth a buy is such a good channel. 11/10 would bell again.
I just want Midnight Club V.
"Dad what the fuck are you watching?" LOL I love your family
You know the acting is bad when the acting in need for speed: most wanted on ps2 was better...
I love how you bring back TDU2 into this, its the last racing game i have played for more than 200 hours, just cruising around with a friend
Yup yet I don't own consoles, but it sure would be a hell of a game if I could play it
you played the crew on pc? Its £10 at the moment so was thinking about buying it..
Same here, thinking about it but I don't know if I would like the really arcade'ish physics
+Sten Martens - Only thing that puts me off when playing TDU2 is the blocky roads. Makes driving over a hill a bumpy mess instead of a smooth drive.
+Sten Martens Use an emulator :p
This guy is probably a really fun dad.
Please, someone make a song out of that phone call ranting. lmfao
Talk about GREAT CONSUMER advice!!!
Thanks MACK!
I had to agree SO MUCH, about what you said about TDU 2. I wish they made a Test Drive Unlimited 3, It would really be the best selling racing game. It's a shame the TDU 2 servers are down 99.9% of the time nowadays, it really was something unique. Maybe one day.
"they turn into Ayrton Senna" 😂👌👌👌👌 he's one of my heroes, thanks sir you know your racing
The only game reviews I watch right now. Mack is king
Mack! The developers made the FMVs cheesy on purpose!! They said they wanted to capture the "feel" of the old NSFU games and they did. Go back and play NSFU 1 and 2. They're full of horrible acting, and constant nagging phone calls, and even worse txts. I agree that the game isnt worth buying at $60, but they did what they set out to do..... they remaid NSFU. That game was just ok back then, and it is still just ok now. So.....mission accomplished. Its fuckin EA Mack....would you expect anything less? Maybe they should bring back Brooke Burke. Only this time, she can only open her trap for *BELL RINGS*.
I actually started crying laughing watching this video hahaha. HILARIOUS!
Ah Jesus man, your channel is pure gold. How have I not come across it before? When you go on to talk about bringing the PS down stairs but recoil in horror at the last second as you realise the potential for utter embarrassment had me holding back the laughter in the office. Must be said the bell adds an extra layer of madness to proceedings as well, love it! I know this is an old video, I've just let the player go and am hopping from one video to the next. Good stuff :) Happy new year!
Such an honest, not-sugarcoated review! Thank you! Subscribed and liked, please never stop doing this type of reviews!
Can't wait to see Mack rage at battlefront
They should make a game like NFS Most Wanted, still one of my favorite games
Mack's imitation of his son watching him watch this game's cutscenes had me fuckin rolling on the floor.
I luv you dude! Best reviewer ever! You're hilarious and i completely agreed and laughed my ass off at 5:20
"[this boring cringe-worthy game] makes me want to become a game producer.. but I'd rather just ring me bell" - Mack. You are the best. Hilarious. Insightful. Opinionated. Honest. Never ever change.
I think Mack needs a small loan of a million dollars so he can buy lots of early access survival games
I don't get it..
ahahahahhahahagagahahhagagagagagaagagagagaggaagga he will need to buy a lifetime supply of bells.
Jordan Shuhandler Ah, OK. I get it now, thanks.
Hey Mack is that picture you use from No Country for Old Men?
+TheOneYapper Is it :o
+Worth A Buy I think it is. It's the only time I've seen that actor play as a sheriff. Haven't you seen No Country for Old Men?
+Worth A Buy The thumbnail is from Need For Speed: Pro Street too, which although shit was tons better than this! At least the driving was more fun, you know the thing that people buy it for.
+Christian Davies I was referring to the picture he flashes on the screen with the actor and the newspaper. The one he uses in like every video
TheOneYapper I know, it's Tommy Lee Jones. Just saying because it's an old NFS title used for the thumbnail which is ironic as it was better than this NFS :-P
HAHAHA you're impression of these characters had me creasing up xD.
Keep it up Mac.
While you're on PS4 , why don't you play BloodBorne then go back and play DS1/DS2.
omg, how embarrassing, that acting
I loved the first Need for Speed game. I had it on my 3DO back in the day. Fantastic sim for its time.
Need for Speed Porsche was awesome too. Much better than the original and the feel was great.
Now we have this? Unbelievable.
2 years later.......that bell, and tommy lee jones, Mack your the man.... seriously couldent stop laughing people at work thought I was either smiling/laughing at nothing or just crazy? 😂
Its set a night because that's when car culture thrives
OMG man you had me choking on my spliff once again, you're too funny man!
One thing that tears at me with the live action cutscenes (and it's a small detail but still) is that the characters who are apparently cool dude mechanics are perfectly clean and neat with nice hair and not a single drop of sweat. I can't f*****g stick that!
I want to grind their faces with sandpaper and squirt them with engine oil from a super soaker. ANYTHING to make it look it look like they just did some physical work. Part of the joy of working with machines is getting dirty. BLOODY AUTHENTICITY.
Wow. I think I just went somewhere dark and firey for a second there.
Mack... you're making me cry. Besides the No Man's Sky and Mass Effect: Androgynous review, this is the best in terms of humor. And thank you for risking your life to bring us these videos mate.
How can Porsche give these guys exclusive licencing,? It's so silly how the sun starts to rise as you drive up the mountain roads and sets as you drive back down. Mack I have to disagree with you on the customising, some cars have very few parts like the Viper, MX-5 etc and the F40 has none and the cars that do only have the same couple of generic parts.
+DeaKen002 porsche gave them the exclusive licencing when need for speed was good and im not speaking about underground
***** i know it does nit make sense in english but its porSCHE
I can just picture this game saying to Mack in an Ivan Drago voice: I will break you!
HAHAHAHHA!! I PICKED UP TOO MUCH HEAT FROM THE COPS! HEAT FROM THE COPS MAN! IM HOT I PICKED UP TOO MUCH HEAT FROM THE COPS!
if i was ~14, i would love this.
MAN i wish i still was 14... T.T
I don't think it's fair to blame the actors. They did their best with the tragic scripts and direction they were given.
Mack, if I had my own game company I would hire you immediately to head up game development and Q&A. Thumbs up from USA
My favorite NFS was NFS 3 hot pursuit. I had just moved to the US and my friends dad had it for PC and I fell in love with it. I than got it for PS1 but didn't look as good. The rest have been crap IMO.The other one I liked was another older one that had Porsches in it.
+Cly Kasu Very nice, them two are my favourites also, Porsche challenge I believe, I know it was set in Europe because the Police had funny sirens :)
+Worth A Buy it was porsche unleashed and i think there was no police in that game, i might be wrong tho
+Worth A Buy
was - Porshe Unleashed
10:09 "They turn into Ayrton Senna"
I laughed my ass off, what a fucking steller review this is.
LOOL wow that acting, I can't even imagine how your face was reacting when you were playing this.
Awesome content, Mack. When you said that your health stuff all happened around the time you were playing this, I choked up laughing because I thought you were going to say the quality of NFS was the reason you got sick.
Such a shame that they managed to miss the mark so damn much. No cabin view, no wheel support, and no manual transmission. That... its just not, I mean jesus. That's not a racing game. Mongs.
Can I say thank you Mack! The only person this side of reality that actually judges games on their merit or lack there of. I am furious at the volume of sh1t that is hitting shelves and digital downloads. You are the only one saying it how it is we need a review site to replace ign and the likes with people who actually give a stuff about actual mechanics, meaning and challenge not cash grabbing children with unmarried parents.
whehey gonna watch this while I take a poop
I really liked this franchise of games so probably could have looked past a lot of this installments faults and flaws, the killer for me though was the lack of a solo player offline mode, I will definitely be giving this one a miss because of that. Coincidentally (or not) EA's other big release this year "Star Wars Battle Front" (which I was also really looking forward to) is another one I will be giving a miss due to the lack of a single player campaign.
what's worse, these "actors", or the lead actors from birdemic: fear and terror
I love the phone part when you pretend them talking.. Haha. So true.
"Heat from the cops, man bro! I'm layin' low! Heat from the cops!" OMFG, I gotta play this game sometime just to laugh at it!
Mack your reviews proper crack me up bro. Never change.
4:34 That hair line though!
i have to Agree with you even tho am i nfs fanboy, and you.dont need ps+ to play it, just online connection
Nice and funny review!!
+Sidgi Zejnalov Yeah I was a massive NFS fan and although I had fun with this review it really pissed me off that I still don't have an open world driving game that is good for the PS4.
It's a rare thing to see somebody with actual appreciation for TDU2.
A mental breakdown within the first minute... and I haven't even gotten my popcorn yet. Early thumb up.
The words, the words, the WORDS. xD
I look forward to this every time I watch your videos.
Hey Mack, Just wanted to tell you I love watching your reviews .
Oh mack..... I have been waiting for this review for about 2 months now.... best game review you've ever done that was fantastic. I knew it would gain this reaction from you I said it a while back as a comment.
best review ever.
Also,i played it without paying for the sub scription. I pressed play and when the psplus thing poped up i pressed b and the game started.
and I thought '' GASP ! the cutscenes '' ahahaha I laughed so much
Burnout Paradise was a fantastic open world racing game packed with content you said you'd love to see. It's such a shame that people didn't like the direction it took from it's previous titles. I hope the bring it back. :)
You didn't mention the soundtrack, I like the new approach with trap and electro.
Ugh. Those cut-scenes look like a throwback to the old FMV Mega CD games.
So it would be worth a buy if I got it for 19,95€ from PS Store right now?
My favourite NFS game has got to be High Stakes (AKA Road Challenge in Europe). It was the first NFS game to have damage in it, and the first one to have a career mode. It had good rural tracks and plenty of cars (for the time, anyway), and I just remember having a ton of fun playing it. I think it may have also been the first NFS game with customization in it? Mind you, it wasn't terribly thorough customization, but you could basically upgrade your car from "Stock" up to "Performance Package 3," improving its overall parameters.
Mack, I would kind of disagree with your assessment at 11:49 that the consoles are to blame for NFS's decline. Every single NFS game that came out for PC (besides the F2P ones) also came out on console. NFS has always been "consolized," i.e. it's always been very arcadey, but it used to be a lot more fun. I think the main problem with NFS today is not consolization, but just plain bad developers (or maybe it's EA's fault. Yes, I'll blame EA).
With that said, consoles definitely hold back gaming in general. I don't want to make it sound like consoles aren't shit, because they are, but they're only a minor contributing factor in the problems that NFS has, not the main one.
worth a buy is truly an important part of my week mate; thanks a lot.
those cut scenes bring me back to some sega cd fmv's
So... Basically EA rebooting a game is more effective at killing a series and/or making it worse. Good to know, now I won't buy any rebooted games (or any at all) from EA then. I already knew Battlefront is a terrible reboot, along with Syndicate.
And the always online... THIS just adds to my reasons for avoiding this generation of consoles. Fuck that garbage.
+TheBricktator Wasn't that obvious since Sim City, that abomination of a failed simulation and their first Always-on shite? And didn't EA do the same to Most Wanted before? Incompetent companies sitting on licenses is the worst...
PS3 and ps2 for life...screw the ps4
Your finest review yet. Really enjoyed it and the bell... I need to buy one so that I can bang it hard with frustration. You should sell them via your page. We'll done.
Everyone criticizes the acting but to me it's supposed to be like that, it's supposed to be cheesy like it was in Most wanted and Carbon. Personally I missed these scenes from the newer games and it's nice to have them back.
honestly man, your videos are f****** hilarious and very on point 👌
6:19 XD
I love your content. Thanks for being so outright and honest with your opinions. You remind me of Trevor in some way.
love your brutally honest reviews!
This game is one my biggest disappointment ever in gaming. I was a massive need for speed fan and the key word here is "was". I few weeks ago I was watching gameriots video on this game and I called it in the comments a piece of shit game that's not worth the money. I said it needed wheel support a day and night cycle and cockpit view and they needed to completely change the way the cars handle cause it looked like it was on rails as well as getting rid of rubber banding. And the fan boys came in their fucking droves and the kept saying "it's an arcade game it doesn't need it". WTF I mean what absolute fucking fuck I gave suggestions to how improve the game and the fans defended it to the end. And then I realized it this is a dumb down game for children who don't know shit about cars and car culture. No petrolhead in their right mind likes this game it's just embarrassing. The problems is the preorder culture that has developed where everyone that preordered a game defends it to death.
Those Live Action cut scenes reminded me of Resident Evil .... But at least that was actually fun.
*"Joseph!"* XD
the shame part around 5:30, when you shite yourself when the cutscenes came... make me laugh so hard :) thx man, make my day.
Bellend boy racers are the kind of people that would enjoy this setting and characters Mack.
This is a plea to quality. More than anything else.
Totally agreed with everything u said there. Game looks great, graphics etc. gameplay ok, customization ok and then u go deeper, to the meat, and u see the absence of depth (depth=quality, sometimes) and everything u mention go here. Furthermore, indeed, who are these ppl? Do ppl really react and behave this way in real life? When they made the script, what are they thinking really? I would love to know their thought process on that, honestly.
But ye, watching things like "Fast & Furious", as much as u may like cars, races etc. there is another culture out there, or somewhere in their brain failure, that sees the world like this. To sum it up, after the original NFS, they decided making games a franchise instead of out of pure passion and love is more profitable.
as always great video mack. loved the aryton senna comment!!
Hey Mack. Big fan of your vids and I like the points you've made about NFS.. but saying that AI in TDU2 was brilliant.... uhuhuhuhuh :D Made my day :)
Good video tho! Keep it real as always.
Midnight Club 2017. *drops mic and walks off stage*
