- This is my transcription of the piano version of Calling to the Night from Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. This piano version appears on the Metal Gear 20th anniversary music collection album.
I've wanted to play this ever since I first heard it. I hope you like it.
I found sheet music for this on the internet but it was badly written with a lot of mistakes in it. Instead of trying to fix the bad sheets I decided to throw them away completely and transcribe the whole piece from scratch.
My transcription (to the best of my knowledge) is the only version available that is 99.9% accurate to the original piano version.
Piano vst - Vienna Grand by Galaxy Instruments.
Reverb plug-in - Redline Reverb.
Recorded with Cubase.

I don't think I can play this piece any better than how I did here, I was on fire that day I remember. I literally sat down, pressed record and then magic. Probably this and my ICO - You Were There video are my proudest moments.

I find that the Japanese have a certain melancholy to their piano (and art in general really). You can hear it in their music, anime, etc.
I think it might be because of the culture of loneliness.
