This time last week, we had the biggest shock of our lives, welcoming our gorgeous baby boy into the world.
Rupert (Roo) Arie Colvin arrived just over three weeks early at Kingston Hospital on the 21st August, weighing 5lbs 10oz (2440g).
Because he was premature, we had to spend the next four days on the high dependency unit, whilst the amazing doctors and midwives kept a close eye over him.
Then, on Wednesday this week, we were able to bring him home!
It's been quite the ride ever since. There's been plenty of tears (mostly from me and Jamie), hundreds of dirty nappies and a week of sleepless nights as we get to grips with a teeny tiny newborn!
We didn't think we were going to be able to upload a video this week, but we wanted to thank you all for your kind words on his arrival.
A lot of you were wondering if Jamie filmed the birth - of course he did! We'll have to give it a censor check and share some highlights with you in the next few weeks.
It was a wonderful, positive labour so we are happy to share our experience in the hope it calms the nerves of any expectant mums and dispels a lot of negativity around giving birth.
Please bear with us over the next few weeks, as we adjust to Roo being in our lives. We aren't going anywhere and plan to continue uploading when we can.

Congratulations Megan and Jamie!!!! Welcome to the world, little precious Rupert. You could not have possibly asked for more wonderful, more loving parents than your very own mom and dad!! Megan - you are simply glowing, darling - motherhood looks absolutely sensational on you! Jamie - well, fatherhood is definitely looking great on you as well! Buckle mom and dad, and welcome to the crazy, yet wonderful ride of parenthood!!

Also, as a mother of two myself... I would love to just offer you both a little ‘tid bit’ about parenthood. It's a tid bit that you hear a lot of 'seasoned' parents say, but I don't think that a lot of new parents ever really truly take it in. I know my husband I certainly didn't back when we became new parents.
So here it goes... From here on out - time - as you know it (knew it) is going to fly by faster than you ever thought could be possible. Trust me on this, the fact that my eldest child just turned 16 last month is something I’m struggling to come to terms with. It feels like he was literally just starting kindergarten a couple of years ago, and now here we are, teaching him how to DRIVE. (Prayers are welcomed, needed and much appreciated.)
So, what I’m trying to say is that, never in a million years did I EVER think that I would actually miss the struggles, hassles and exertions of my kiddo's early development years. All those little pain in the butt inconveniences that comes with parenting newborns, babies, toddlers and young kiddos - I never thought to stop and actually SAVOR all those little cumbersome struggles - and I really wish that I did, because once they are gone, they are gone.
So, with all of this being said, I am so happy for you Megan and Jamie. Your little Rupert is absolutely precious, and he has been blessed beyond measure with you two as his parents.

My baby boy was born at 36 weeks. He had to stay four days in NICU with a feeding tube for a couple days but got to come home after four days after he was born. Your son is so beautiful. Congratulations for your growing family.
