Warren is a smart man. Smarter than most people realize.
Very smart!
" Did what you needed to do, didn't wait for the government handout" Love this guy!
Absolutely!
As an engineer, I like racing (all forms) to understand the engineering behind it. Warren Johnson, IMHO, was living the dream - taking the bench racing to actual track.
Warren and Bob were the best examples of the greatness of drag racing.
Please pray for John Force.
could not agree more. WJ and Bob are legends. Force is just a character like no other. He talks in real life just like he does for those top end interviews.
Obviously there was a ton of awesome content here today, but the thought of Kurt and Warren participating in Prostock gave me chills. Even if it is just one race a year, I would love to watch that race. Warren is absolutely one of the reasons I became an engineer.
One of my heros . Along with Glidden
Awesome and inspiring conversation
"Perfect is only the amount of error you are willing to accept" I need this on a sign in my shop.
Agreed!
Men like Warren Johnson make America great. We need more men and women like him.
the man is a legend. we were lucky enough to meet him at the NHRA finals many years ago.
Little Warren......a legend in his own mind.
Where is your pro stock cars?
You didn’t even watch the video, did you?
@@mekevin22 The only thing worse than Warren's arrogance is the blind ignorance of his fan club. (and his only successes were when his competition was either retired or "ruled" out of the game)

You obviously know nothing about the man - His testing and scientific methods transformed Pro Stock
Warren Johnson ... I won a month of chores from my brother on one of his races! Go Warren J.
He is one smart man
Mr perfect as usual.
I would say that the rule book was changed because of WJ
The 4.900 bore spacing was one
There was no bore spacing rule in the 80s
Unpopular fact.
Bob Glidden was the true professor and will alwas be the real goat of PS drag racing. Once the GM camp had to rely on the DRCE, all pro STOCK labels stopped being relevant.
Bob dominated Warren until that time. No one cried harder when Glidden whooped everyone 5 years in a row.
Not hate, just facts.
Glidden was the man
different times. bob is the PS goat. WJ is just a super nice guy in person & his attention to detail was outstanding. have always loved seeing WJ race. its ok to support more than 1 driver, hell maybe even more than 1 class ;)
I don't think I have enjoyed any racing more than when He and his contemporaries were competing in the NHRA Pro-Stock Class. Good Job Professor!!
Well said!
What a name. Professor.
A great driver. Not my favorite driver. If he wasn't winning it was someone else fault or he thought they were cheating.
A Professor teaches- Mr Johnson hands out lessons- huge gaps in reality.
Warren is/was the guy who needed to be left alone by himself to do what he wanted to do.
There's slots in the military, chemistry, engineering and who knows what. -- I know a fella who was that way and he's a real special person.
Oppenheimer, Tesla, and a ton more. Seems Warren would fit the mold. -- Don't misunderstand the man.
arrogance on full display
I respect WJ for his accomplishments, and his successes. But, i honestly have to say that during the Bob Glidden/Warren Johnson wars. Bob Glidden is the True Successor and the True Professor.
Everyone one does and goes about things differntly, as both bob and warren did. Bob had less Fords in the field than gm's. Large majority of the time unless if it was Ihra. Bob was the only 1, and he dominated.
Love ya Warren, but LONG LIVE BOB GLIDDEN.
P.S Warren I did buy your book.
You can’t have enough horsepower, money and love.
Warren is a great guy to talk shop with, I just wish he would shut the f$%k up about his politics. Dude has been such a legend and pillar of engine building it's a shame he ever strays away from that. Always has been one of the best to ever do it.
DODGE BOYS, and put a BP monitor on Warren.
wayne "nos" county?
Poor Warren, what annoying interview.
DRCE what a cheater block.
Guy is a Richard Crainium! Saw him at a race in Memphis and was TOTALLY RUDE to this little boy! Didn't have his parents with him, and was kinda nervous, talkin softly..
And he just crushed his spirit being a jerk.. just stood there not knowing what to do.
WJ was the worst poor sport in racing history. Loved Curt tho.
Pro Stock but the DRCE was never in anything.
I am getting sick of these love fests.
working in a tight tolerance (+/-.0005) aerospace hone shop, I'm happy to see Lake and Joe building something new.
Warren was one of the accomplished racers during a time when everything was mechanical, and couldn't be programmed into a computer. His accomplishments were great but not possible without cubic money from GM. I have always thought NHRA was one sided, skewed towards Chevrolet. I have always favored Mopars and Fords as they always seemed like underdogs. People like Glidden and Roush (and others) found the performance in the other brands (with the aid of lots of money). Sure I could buy a Chebbie but what fun would that be. I feel better beating on a Mopar (and coming up short) than just giving up and turning to Chevrolet. But that's what makes the world go round. Would I let Warren build me a killer Chev (Oldsmobile), hell yea. Would I put it in my 73 Cuda...Hell no.
Tell the guy with glasses to settle down, just let the guest talk. He's got info or tales we want to know about. Your not the pro. Thanks
Never cared for him, had the best crew chief tho, Greg Anderson, without Greg, Warren was out in the first round
What years were you present?
You can dislike him, that’s your opinion. But no matter who had the title, Warren was definitely the crew chief. Greg was the apprentice.
@JC-dr8ev yeh, Greg was a very determined, I am sure he train others, before or after, Warren was always tuff, his record with Greg, awesome, imo
If switching from carbs to fuel injection was 300 horsepower in the marine application why was it worth zero on an NHRA pro stock motor. Multiple current pro stock racers say that fuel injection is universally disliked.
An angry little man....
