Great baking demonstration Shane! I love that sideways method! Seems like it would spread the heat out better than a flat bottom. I bet we start seeing more of that now that you've shared the idea with us. Thanks!
Thanks for watching Steve, I'm sure we will. That's OK though it gets people thinking about all the possibilities they have when they're cooking outdoors.
That was a great idea the way you modified that pan to make an oven. I've been wracking my brain how to come up with a simple oven set up and I think that may just be the answer for me. Awesome. Thanks for sharing that.
Great video, excellent camp recipe. You are so brave to alter the Zebra pot insert. I think that I will head to the kitchen isle of my local store and look for a small stainless steel cup to set inside my billy pot. Thanks for sharing your ideas about baking over an open fire. I love my Firebox 5" stove so-oo much.
Been looking at that billy pot for a long time and thinking about getting one. Now i got to convince my wife! Very awesome! The bob808 egg drop fire starter is Awesome too! thanks for sharing.
Great video Shane. You got me so excited, I modified my pan and headed into the bush to test our your recipe. It worked out perfectly! The only differences where, I used the firebox G2 5" and pre-greased the entire pan with crisco. 45 minutes and bamm. . .a hearty meal!
bill arseneau super awesome! I’m glad you got out and had a great time. Good food always helps!! Thanks for watching! I love hearing about other’s adventures!
Dude I can't lie. I got just giddy when I saw the title of your vid. Lol. What an awesome idea and great looking lunch. Looks like I'm gonna have to get yet another cook kit. Lol.
Now thats what I'm talking about. You have turned into a Bushcraft cheff. I'm definitely going to give this a try only I think I will line the pan with bacon. I think this will help it from sticking to the sides and make it an upside down bacon cheesy berger. Got to have my bacon bacon bacon. Lol. Thanks for sharing. Atb. Robert
BluegrassBushcraft Thanks for watching watching Robert, it didn't work out too bad. Yeah, bacon probably would have helped with the sticking. Trial and error dude
Thanks for sharing man. Like the versatility of the Zebra pot. Will be using it on my Emberlit, have been wanting a bigger pot than the 900 ml, especially for melting snow (I winter camp with a pulk, and floorless hot tents) and it's nice to see a crafty way to use it...
Brother Shane!!! This video has to be the best of 2015 thus far...I was totally entertained...never got bored...you showed all my personal interests in equipment I don't own "YET"...lol. That cooking is something that really really really sparks my attention. I have been salivating over the Billy Zebra 14cm for about a year now... Ole ***** uses his a lot...you know he's a bushmaster chef...lol. The Upside Down Cheese Burger...I gotta try it soon.
Yes, chef loves his Billy cans! You can get creative and make it in something else. The challenge is...what are you gonna use. Thanks for the nice comment man. It's just fun to get out......and cook of course.
Hi shane. I have been waiting to see this video ever since your pictures you posted on Facebook. Yes it was worth the wait ...thanks for the shout out brother. I now have a new name for my fire starters. Egg drop firestarters :-) luckily I was eating dinner win I was watching your video.. So you didn't make me hungry :-) but you did make me want to try the recipe. I have to say a very inventive design. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to attempt to imitate it... Including me.... Thanks for sharing with us Shane. .
Nice work! Looks delicious! You're very organized, having all your ingredients ready. I am impressed what can be done on the Nano! I'm also impressed with using the Zebra pot on it's side, and I love the mod you did on the pot dish as well. I've just bought a 14" zebra pot so will definitely be doing that mod. Thanks!
Awesome Shane! Just a great video and a demo of what can be accomplished with the nano stove! ( really want one now) Yea, I hear you about them chores....that's why I am always emphasizing a "quick" getaway in my vids....LOL. The area looks like my neck of the woods too. Hey take it easy brother and have fun out there!
what a great idea and turned out so well! I bet you were chuffed when you took the cheeseburger pie out of the oven and it looked delicious!. Nano stoves rock! haha! a.t.b. vee
That was an awesome vid Shane. Food looked amazing. That was pretty ingenious with the billy can and zebra pot making an oven. It really opens the door for all kinds of food that can be made. You could bake some serious bread, muffins, pot roast, man I'm hungry now. These kinds of videos get me really amped to get out there. Damn you Jack Frost! Take care man.
There are so many options that could be done. Hmmm. Thanks for watching dude. You're right Jack Frost has about overstayed his welcome. Remember though, it's always cozy around a fire.
Good job Shane. I'm jealous bro. I wish I was cooking on the Nano! Also, what about snipping the corner of the Ziploc bag instead of pouring from the opening. It works better. Great meal dude!
Nice one shane looks good and it worked great ! i haven't tried any type of baking ,i might just have to ! i just got a solo stove 1800 pot maybe that will do the trick ! atb john
Kids were in school. I'm planning an overnighter with my boys coming up. Hopefully I can get all 4 of them out. With wrestling and Church it can be a bit hectic. I know the little ones are really wanting to get out.
Sorry Shane , My comment come out wrong.... I will say it is awesome your kids are involved in church and wrestling . Hectic I know about , I got 3 girls . Sundays are the worst here , Time we get to church I done wore out..
I could do a short video on it. I've showed it a couple of times but, some things have changed here and there. I recently showed it in my Winter Wandering video. It's a bit of a long video though. Lol
Looks so yummy Shane! That is one pot I still have yet to get, looks like they make nice ovens too! I've only seen one or two videos on the billy oven pot, I think one of them was hillbilliesindabush, but great video Shane, I enjoyed! Blessings and Take Care
Do you ever use non biomass in your Nano, Shane? I also use a Trangia and I also purchased from Steve De Spain the Trangia Gas Burner (not the stove) which I have never used, but I saw Steve do wonderful cooking along with his buddy Perry Peacock from Wilderness Innovation who shares warehouse space with Steve. They went on a camping and fishing trip together and did a video. I'll try to hunt it down.
Lellobeetle I've seen Steve's video, it's wonderful. Yes. I use the Trangia Burner a lot. I usually post those to Instagram... honestly. I don't make a video every time I go out, lol Here are a few videos of the Trangia in action ruclips.net/video/6Na31LJovDs/видео.html Nano ruclips.net/video/hkzcAqQSKBY/видео.html Generation 2
Awesome, brother. Many thanks. I am on IG but only rarely these days. But I am there also as Lellobeetle. I'll try to look you up and make certain I'm connected to your account.
Shane looks like you switched up from the bush box to the fire box. Have you done a video comparing the two? What are your thoughts? Thanks for the videos! PS what's the river your always hiking near? Thanks again JC
Hey JC, I really like this Stove I've been using. I've really ran it through the ringer. I still use the Bushboxes as well. I think they're all good stoves I do have an emberlit I've yet to use as well. I'm hiking by the Missouri River. I may be a stovr Junkie. The only stove I'm not a huge fan of is the Vargo Hexagon wood stove, It does work but, it needs constant attention.
PineMountainVentures it's actually the Windscreen from my solo Stove kit. I bought from omahaknife.com but, you can also purchase the aluminum folding windscreen on Amazon fairly cheap. You can choose from tall or short.
I just used my Electric hand Grinder with a cut off disc, got it down to where it would some what fit and cleaned the edges off with a flap disc. I'm on the look out for a small little pan to fit in there. It does work the way I've got it and very descent at that , I want a bit of a smoother fit that's all. It's a work in progress.
Hey man, I appreciate that. Thanks for watching. This was just something I've been thinking about doing and, I've got some other ideas. I just wanted to start putting the ideas to work.
Great baking demonstration Shane! I love that sideways method! Seems like it would spread the heat out better than a flat bottom. I bet we start seeing more of that now that you've shared the idea with us. Thanks!

Shane Coffey I always use a #10 can...as my oven...but I love that stainless steel...lol.
The stainless is sexy I'm not gonna lie. ;-)
Add mash potato on top of that and onion in the meat , in Australia we call it Shepards Pie . Nicely done Shane 👌

Thanks for the demo. I luv my nano, too. What size zebra pot did you use ?
This is the 12cm it just seemed line the right size to me. Not to big not to small. Thanks for watching I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
PineMountainVentures it's actually the Windscreen from my solo Stove kit. I bought from omahaknife.com but, you can also purchase the aluminum folding windscreen on Amazon fairly cheap. You can choose from tall or short.
+Shane Coffey It looks like omahaknife totally bailed on solo stove items.
Nice! Any tips about how to mod the billy can bowl to fit in the pot like that? Tin snips on the edge? Grinder?
I just used my Electric hand Grinder with a cut off disc, got it down to where it would some what fit and cleaned the edges off with a flap disc. I'm on the look out for a small little pan to fit in there. It does work the way I've got it and very descent at that , I want a bit of a smoother fit that's all. It's a work in progress.
Looks delicious what about the french fries?
Lol. Thats always a possibility. Thanks for watching Bro.
What type of wind screen is that?
Shane, I knew from the teaser vid this would be good.... You didn't disappoint.... Greetings from FSAIOWA www.fsaiowa.com
