Bee Man Vs Another Bee Tree

- This past October, ASAP Tree Service called me to remove bees from a location they were removing three trees from. One of the trees had a good sized beehive living in it & I performed the removal that day. The link to that video: • Bee Man Vs Bee Tree
On March 4, 2021, ASAP called me about another bee tree not too far from the other location, perhaps a mile or so away as the crow flies.
This is the video from that removal, Hope you enjoy it.
This tree was in my parents front yard. I have seen every one of your videos and been subscribed for a while now, so when my mom told me that you had filmed this, I was super excited to see the footage. Big props to you for the quality of work, as well as your personality. My mom told me you are one of the nicest and friendliest people she has met in a long time. I'm sad to see those trees go, as they gave me piles of leaves to play in throughout my childhood, but thank you for helping to make the experience last forever through this video. it really means a lot to me.
Your Mom is a sweetheart & albeit I never met your Dad he sounds cool too. Your parents & I had a Keto connection, Lol & your Dad made sure that I left there with a cookbook.
Really appreciate your feedback Jeff! 👍✌️🐝
Did the bees chew out that branch?
@@bertvdlast I believe it had been trimmed some years back, and it’s very possible, but it’s also an extremely old tree. So it may have just rotted on the inside
Never ceases to amaze me how gentle bees are. I was a pest control technician for 8 years. Fortunately I had a good friend who is a beekeeper. Occasionally I got calls for bees, I always called him out to remove them. One the home owner was wanting me to spray them, but I was able to convince them not to. My friend got there, and my boss, we spent all day removing two huge colonies. Even my boss was impressed. Took a total of three days to completely remove them. Clean up took another couple days. Most of the time however it was simple swarms we dealt with. After dealing with wasps and Hornets, bees was a treat to deal with.
Keep up the amazing work. Love your videos
The way you walked that colony from one end of the log into that hive box was impressive, 👍🏼
Thank you for tempering the volume when you fired up/used the chainsaw, etc. It's much more enjoyable to watch when not getting my ears periodically blasted out! It really is appreciated!
how do you do that? is it done in the video editing phase?
In my experience, bees DO NOT like chainsaws either.
@@ChrisWatkinsPortraits key framing in video editing. Yep. If you’re looking for a tutorial I can help you out or whatever lol
I swear I have never had more respect for bees than I have after watching a good few of JP's videos. My mom is deathly allergic to them so I have always had the mentality of staying away from them, but recently I removed a hive from a friends shed and got a good few pounds of honey from it. Never would have done that if it wasn't for you JP, thanks for always being so educational and entertaining
That "dead core" is likeliest the tree's heartwood, which rotted away slower than the sapwood because of natural resin in it.
sometimes referred to as 'fatwood'
its good to see bees in trees again :)
@@knightaaron7 I agree, instead of in walls....or my 71 gmc truck lol
So lovely to hear the bees, the birds, the dog, the train as JP steadily worked on the hive.
Thanks for taking us along JP and saving another colony of bees!
Festooning was super cool to learn and see. You rock JP
Found a hive in a building we are tearing down be for it falls, got as much of there comb framed up and have my first colony . thanks for your vids , ive learned a lot from them.
Congratulations! Will say a blessing for your first hive.
Can't wait for my own someday.
Blessed Bee :)

Y'know, watching these videos I've learned quite a few things about honey-bees. Foremost amongst these is;
1. ANY void-space can become a home for a swarm.
2. Bees act like a viscous liquid (with intelligence) when they are together in large numbers.
3. Bees are FAR more tolerant than I ever would have expected. If you're gentle, they are gentle. (Well, up to a point).
4. Bees get fairly testy when they get cold.
I'm getting my bees at the end of May I can't wait
The cutout was superb, as usual.
It never ceases to amaze me. I was glad to see that you do have a pain threshold. Makes me like you even more. I love, love, LOVE the xylophone and systhesizer music! Great choice!
Always a pleasure JP!
Hope some day to meet you.
Ahhh JP, so good to see your videos again. Hope you are keeping safe and well my man
Nice to see you back JP. Sure missed you. I'm having a good day too. Looking forward to more videos. Thanks for the fun ♥♥♥
The world needs more people like you JP. Saving nature one bee at a time and sharing your kindness with us. You're a humble blessing for us all!
Another fine save, JP! Looking forward to more...
I came across your channel about a week ago. I have not stopped watching yet. Your "Down Home" personality is so pleasant. I have been aware of the diminishing bee populations for about 10 years and have called people like yourself many times when I would come across swarms. I never witnessed those guys at work, but imagine they do many of the same practices as you. I was never one to swat or runaround like the sky was falling when encountering bees. I noticed that , like you keeping cool and not getting excited kept me from "beeing" stung. My neighbor just started bee keeping. I was going to join their little farm but became paralyzed from the waist down. Once I get a grip on learning how to live paralyzed, I'm absolutely going to get involved in some manner.
Your way of involving the home owner is absolutely astounding and hilarious . The way you share your knowledge is great. Please keep making your videos.
KEEP TELLING THE "B" VITAMIN JOKE TOO!!
Wishing you the best with adjusting to your new approach to living. Seems like you’re making the best of a tough situation.
Good to see you here. 👍🐝
Great Job JP! It’s nice that you show us the colony status after a few days
Hi, JP. I think the tree limb had been hit by lightning, but continued to grow around the burned core. It was a difficult problem. Well done! Thanks for sharing! Stay healthy!
I think it’s awesome that you’re trying to save all the bees you do people that’s great honey bees don’t understand how important they are to the environment you’re doing a justice for the earth’s health Keep it up👍🐝
I truly believe your the most knowledgeable bee keeper on RUclips I think you forgot what most of these guys know. There are some good ones but your the best. Just the care you show the bees is enough for me. The Bee come first before anything else.
You never disappoint me with your videos I love them I learned so much from them maybe be as every one is different
You work around the bees like they toys you don't seem to have a care in the world it is just lovely to watch you being so calm around them and that in return makes the bees calm as you
Thank you for for another great video
Regards Helen
Love the audio. The birds and all the nature in the background makes me feel like I'm right there with ya. Minus all the fussing and lack of my 99cent refills of course.
Hi from the UK😁 this has taken me back to when I was little and used to help the lady near our horses with her bee keeping. I remember a swarm going to the church tower and her bringing it back an setting up a new hive, great memories 💜💜
Enjoyed that adventure JP. My RUclips has run aground somewhat; this vid has reinvigorated me! Jim from Australia. 🇦🇺
I can't get enough of this stuff JP. You are like the Cajun Bob Ross of bee keeping! Keep it up!
Thank you JP, I love watching the bee's you capture and work with. What a great job, you sure can tell, you love the work. Thanks again.
My favorite videos are the ones you make about the fantastic honey bee. You are professional and kind to the bees. Keep up the good work.
This is the second time I watched this particular video - you are such a master of this you make it look easy. It is not easy - but it is good work. You handle that chain saw with such ease, you get right to the area that needs attention and you just pick at it until you pry the entire colony from the remains of the tree and get them in a safe box. That queen didn't have to go on a diet to fly, so she never slimmed down to swarm. She changed homes and kept her best brood with her, so you have rewarded her and the colony for their cooperation. I doubt they know or understand how you rescued them, but I do and appreciate it! Fabulous job JP! Thank you!

Thank you sir!
I love watching JP hes a nice wholesome guy amazing content its only a mater of time before his channel extremely blows up keep up the grate content brother
i joined your channel because of your compassion to the bees and i think they sense that . i also find them refreshing and relaxing at the same time . :)
LOVE YOUR WAY WITH THE GIRLS JP! THANKS FOR TAKING ME ALONG TO ENJOY ANTHER BEE REMOVEL,GO BLESS
Another great rescue and video JP. Really glad you're back posting. Love the way you talk us through your process and educate us. God bless and have a great day!
When I was a young lad I was catching butterflies in the front yard when a large hive of bees began to swarm. Fortunately, I was able to get inside without getting stung. I have always had a keen respect for bees. Your gentle handling of them is amazing even as you saw into there treehouse. Thank you for bee-ing there for the bees.
I think the word you were looking for was heart wood. And as it was dead that limb had a limited future. Great video. As this is the start of the new swarm season, and the unofficial match up on swarms between you, Mr. Ed, the Rooster and Yappy - I have to say this was a tough start for you. This limb did not give you the chance to shine at something you are a master of doing. Next one will be better. But this was a fun video, just loved watching you go through your paces, overcoming all the obstacles. And boy were there obstacles! That you got them out is a testament to your skill!! Regards from Florida, we are sending the heat your way!
Wow these little lady's are so cool and so impressive!! I love seeing them festoon like that. And I think your great too JP 😜👏👍
You know the bees are grouchy anytime JP or the dirt rooster puts on a veil.
Its so good to see you JP❤️
JP the Beeman's back! Another neat sign of spring--I've really missed the bee content from you, Yappy, Steve and DirtRooster. Very boring winter, imho--thank you for taking us along on this trip!
Good to see ya back in action J.P. . Missed ya Brotha!
Wow, you are so fantastic how you gently take care of the bees was very interesting. It took so much work but watching you save that hive was wonderful thank you for caring and helping save bees.
Hi JP. My wife and I love your videos and your passion and genuine care you have for the bees. We do tree work on a small scale and were wondering if the bees might be less riled up if you were using an electric or battery chainsaw. My wife uses one and the vibration is nearly non existent. Happy bee hunting. Josh and Deb
I think it had more to do with the cooler temperatures the night before & that morning than the chainsaw itself. I’ve cut open a bunch of bee trees over the years & usually don’t have many issues with them acting overly aggressive when the temperatures are a good bit warmer.
Hi JP the bee man it's nice to see you get your little girls a new hive I've always enjoy watching your videos it's sun shine in London you take care I'll be watching out for your videos thanks for sharing take care.
I can’t stop watching these videos! It makes me want to keep bees 🐝. I am not sure my HOA would approve though 🤣. Thank you for your great videos! I have learned so much.
👍✌️🐝
Good Morning JP, I really enjoyed this video!! Loved the music 🎶 ❤
God bless, the Beewhisperer is back!
Where ya at JP? I haven't seen you work that hard in a while to get those sweeties into a new home. It's 12:15 am here - got up to take some meds I forgot to do before sleepy time. It's a bit annoying really that my brain yells at me like this but, hey, I got to watch you do your thing so it's good.
What a lovely colony of bees! I enjoyed seeing the festooning behavior. Hopefully they like their new home!
Thanks JP. That piece of the core you showed is hard because of the glue substance called "lignin". When you tapped it, it sound like metal (steel). Great video.
This has become My new fav channel 🐝
This one was enjoyable from start to finish. Once again, well done!
✌️👍🐝
Oh my gosh, your amazing!!!you have the patience of a SAINT....pun intended!! Hubby found your channel now we binge on your videos ❤️😁
When I saw that mistletoe on there I knew they would be waiting to kiss you!! lol Good job and another great video!
Great show J P don’t always comment do always enjoy, watch.everyone I can find.
JP, doing good work. Every hive of bees he saves is another chance for humanity, because if the bees die, we die with them.
Not really, other pollinators do exist, and would fill the void fairly quickly.
However, honey bees are much more efficient and easier to work with than those other pollinators... and the honey definitely would be missed.
That being said JP is indeed doing good work. Especially since his "tenants" can be a bit sting-y.
You made my day JP! Always happy to see one of your videos
Always a good watch. Lots of memories with dad and grandad with their bees.
So happy bee season in back again!!
JP it is always a pleasure to watch your videos!Great Stuff. Tom
JP, love your videos! I always look forward to the next one. You are an inspiration to me! One day maybe I will be as brave as you are with the bees! I am also a bee keeper. That core wood is known as " Fat Wood" it is great for starting fires because of all the resin.
Simply incredible how you made that tree look like a bridge for the bees to migrate into the box. Smart thinking
Good vid. I was wondering about how irritated they were going to be as cool as it turned. Always good to keep a veil in the truck, just in case. Hope you didn't get stung too many times. That queen was nice sized and relatively easy to spot though. Thanks for sharing, and stay safe.
Nice to see how the bees are doing, as well as the capture.
I don't know why but watching these videos is just mesmerizing and fascinating to me. I love honey bees and don't freak out when one lands on me, I've even let them lick the sweat off my palm in the summer time. Don't know why they like that but I can only guess that it's the salt?
“Festooning”. First time I’ve heard that. Cool video!
I feel a little pang of disappointment every time I see a big old hive being taken out of a hollow tree. It's absolutely the most perfect, natural place for a happy pile of bees to be! It's wonderful, though, to not only see them being rescued, but to see how many different people are happy to be involved in the process just to keep these bees alive. There's a lot of good people out there.
Awesome video! I’m not as experienced as you and all the techniques that I know for take a bee colony out from a house, I’ve learned from you! thanks! In the last three colonies that I’ve rescue, I used Vinegar to prevent the bees to return to the same spot and it have work very well for me, maybe you could use it when you don’t have “bee gone”. 😊 Best regards from Mexicali, México 🇲🇽
Found yours and Shawee's video's first, then found Mr Ed's and Dirt Roosters. All of you do a fantastic job and love all of your video's.
Thank you so much for adjusting the volume when that chainsaw revs up.
👍🐝
Dang JP, I know i'd be suited up for a job like that..! I know some breeds are more tolerant than other, but. I wouldn't chance it, chainsaw noise and vibration.. I once got stung about 30 times, adjusting the entrance size.. That was enough for, lesson learned.. lol.. That being said, i love watching you doing your thing.... thanks for sharing ..
23:29 I think the thing you found is a very old propolis. Old ones become like a stone, fresh ones soft and very sticky. They usually use it on the open space of the hive to avoid light and air coming from outside
It’s definitely not old propolis.
I have only just found your channel and I’m more than impressed with what you do your absolutely amazing and yes I also love bees.they are very special.🦋 just like you .
Nice to see you back. We still have about two feet of snow.
JP, enjoyed talking with you at the convention in TN last winter. Regards, Rick at HAYDEN HONEY
The sound that the puffy thing makes is somewhat satisfying
I like to think in an alternate universe, there is PJ The Wasp Man.
Have you watched Hornet King? He occasionally relocates nests to his own grounds. :)
I enjoyed every vid you made thanks lovely JP 😍❤️❤️
Love these vids man all the way from uk so interesting. Love how u try your best to save every hive and bee🐝
Makes me think of the hive winnie the pooh got stuck in! Great content as always mr bee man!!!
I really appreciate what this man does.
I love how they smoked them first! Smart to also save the bees and keeping them safe.
Imagine how many stings he must’ve taken...
You got that right on the chain! I always get as much out of a chain as I can but when I switch... Whoo boy! It is a nice feeling.
I purchased a Stihl 2 in 1 chain sharpener, really extends the life of a chain!
Awesome JP! Sorry you got stung so much though. They just didn't understand you were trying to help them.
Hello Mr JPthebeeman,
I’m a beekeeper in Brazil, I also remove some bee swarms over here.
Differently from there, the bees here are not passive, they’re pretty agressive.. most of them are africanized honey bees.
I charge for the bee swarm removal, and you?
Congrats for your work, it’s very good!!
Greetings from Brazil!
Excellent! Loved it! Fascinating! Stay safe, my friend.
well that was funny! here you were(on another video) smoking those bees, and suddenly I could smell the smoke! ..I thought..hang on, I shouldn't be able to smell that, turns out there was smoke drifting over our house and being drawn in by the Ventilation system, too funny!!
Dead core of tree: Heartwood! Yeah, it's six months late. I just found you!
thanks JP for sharing this wonderfull video with lots of cutting
It's not fun getting stung, but those bees are loyal to their hive sacrificing themselves to protect it. Good thing you were called in to rescue them.
JP you and Dirt Rooster and Mr Ed are the best for our bees!
Super video🐝👍
Thank you so much JP. Love the videos. Say hi to Schawee for me. You two need to get back into it together again. I'll bee looking for the next video. Stay well.
I’m not surprised that bees aren’t a fan of you taking a chainsaw to their home considering most colonies don’t even like the grass getting cut near the hive. 😆
Once again enjoying your videos, miss ya
JP, you are a force to be reckoned with! 🥰🌼🐝
Thanks for sharing JP.Are you still doing cutouts
The bees look so fat and cute. 🐝
Another great video buddy thanks for sharing everything with us stay safe and god bless
Nice one! I see Yappie is already going strong too. He said he's already ahead of you on swarms.
