Another Russian Shill I wanna make it clear from the get go that I’m a huge fan of Hbox, and I think he’s improved a lot as a person since the peak of his hate. That said, for anyone who happens upon this comment chain, the comment I’m replying to is not accurate as to why people hate Hbox. For one, Jigglypuff is considered to be a top tier character, universally ranked in tier lists as one of the top characters in Melee-just look at any top melee player’s tier list. Even Hbox himself agrees puff is one of the best. Many top players (though not all) even consider Jigglypuff to be THE number one character-though plenty of other top players disagree. Additionally, while Fox is a really common main amongst top players, there are tons of beloved top players who play characters that aren’t Fox. For instance, Axe’s Pikachu and Armada’s Peach are super beloved for getting the results despite not being Fox. It’s not just that Hbox plays a character that isn’t Fox. And it’s not just the character Hbox plays, either. Mang0, one of the most beloved Smash players of all time, was the premier puff main for a while, even before Hbox entered the scene, and people mostly loved Mang0 for it. Why the hate, then? Hbox got hate because his playstyle as puff is considered to be campy by a lot of competitive players. For instance, he’s done stuff like time out players and spend minutes running away from his opponents, which many feel is a super lame way to win. Moreover, he was a bit cocky several years ago, and did some questionable things that got blown way out of proportion by people who already disliked his playstyle. Of course, he’s changed a ton for the better since then, and he’s not the same Hbox back all those years ago Again, screw the haters: I love Hbox the way he is, and he’s changed a ton for the better. The suggestion he mainly tried to push was that puff is a female character, and smashers hate Hbox because they’re subconsciously misogynistic about the character a person uses-again, without any evidence whatsoever, or despite the fact that many top players who main female characters, including other top puff mains, have not gotten hate similar to that of Hbox’s* *He’s also demonstrated that he knows very little about the melee community and its players beyond, say, a few RUclips videos. He’s been so incorrect and so defensive about really basic things (like repeatedly denying that Armada began as a Peach main and has mainly used Peach, with a Fox in certain situations such as vs puff) that I could tell instantly that he knows next to nothing about melee. I strongly suspect he had to google things as the debate progressed b/c he didn’t know anything I was talking about. “Armada is a Fox main with a Peach secondary”? I don’t like Mang0 that much, I’m saying that people in general love Mang0 a ton. There’s absolutely zero question that he’s one of the most beloved Smash players of all time, even if I’m not personally that big of a fan of his. @Ondřej Dušek This is a reference to EmpLemon's video on HBox. That U-Air Armada did? That one move could've ended the ENTIRE TOURNAMENT. But HBox used Smash Directional Influence to avoid getting hit a second time, which would've killed him right then and there. That one move he did gave him the chance he needed to turn the tables and win the whole tournament. That's why this is such a legendary moment. He just BARELY clutched the match and went home with the gold he deserved.
@Comment Cop Depending on where you came from, that could either be a reference to a statement EmpLemon made, or just a statement that happened to be identical to what EmpLemon said. Sif they weren't dominant since like uhh well I don't know but a few years ago but they were still called gods Mang0 didn't even win a single tournament in 2018 and barely is winning tournaments Mew2King goes to like 2 tournaments per year since he started streaming other games Armada retired due to too much stress and PP is gone due to health problems I feel like PP might return this year though he looks much healthier this year
S H I N E i think if PP comes back theres a chance Armada comes back and M2K starts truly practicing
Iantheweird I don't think Armada is coming back i mean we still see him competing in non singles
Wow. This is just a spectacle to watch. Good game, good game to all of you.
38:42 if you listen closely, you can hear him say 'oh my god!'
I don’t have to listen I just read his lips it’s super obvious
"oh my goOAH"
That emotional finish was so nice and genuine.
“Let me hear you get loud”
Crowd: “ ”
Seeing the size of this crowd is kind of crazy compared to tournaments today
The fox-puff match is truly something else, there may not be moment to moment action, but the chance for any on them to lose a stock regardless of % keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I don't even watch melee all that often as i mostly stick to ultimate, but Jesus i watched this whole set when i heard the news, when that rest heard around the world landed i legit forgot i knew what the outcome was and felt immense pressure and amazement when Hbox pulled that win out of the jaws of defeat
The set that still means everything to me
Very emotional ride for HB
First comment on this video in 3 years
Best melee set ever given the stakes. How many times was Armada one hit away? It's crazy.
Anyone come back to this set in 2022? Very historic
Hbox: God, Myth, and Legend.
one of the best sets in fighting games
His dad : Are Ya winnig son?
Hbox :
this comment doesn’t really work for hbox lol
@@rockinrai It works really damn well on a symbolic level
"you'll be good, but you'll never be the best"
HBox: lol try me
18:52 the hypest shit ever
The most emotional pop off of all time
19:10 something about this really made me shudder because Hbox seemed like he asked Armada for a second and in his mind he was like: "Juan you got your only chance now don't fuck it up right at the home stretch." You can truly see the pressure Hbox had after getting the reset when he clenched his fist there.
38:58 Average Hbox Viewer vs Average Armada enjoyer
38:40 your welcome
*you're...
Fluctuating Progresses your grammar is not correct lmao
@@CD-lj4qs What do you mean?
Fluctuating Progresses he’s meaning your welcome not you’re. Why because you’re stands for you are and you are welcome makes no sense
@@CD-lj4qs Why would the welcome be possessed by someone?
Also, if you check on multiple grammar correctors, "Your welcome." is labeled as incorrect.
All the respect in the world to these Smash legends here! HBox been through soo much, this win right here was well deserved!
i love hbox’s realization at 18:56 that he still has another set to play and at 19:05 he remembers that it’s armada 😂
Let's be honest
18:05 is what you're really looking for
That phantom hit changed the whole thing
It hit... but it didn't hit 🤔
That was just SDI not a phantom
That was smash directional influence
That was the turning point
@@YouB3anz it does ...
A fecha de este comentario ya han pasado 6 años desde este torneo y me sorprende como hungrybox a pesar de que esta a pocos golpes de perder logra remontar de la manera mas epica posible :0 por eso apoyo a hbox
I love how they have to play the game on an old CR TV. That said I don’t understand why final destination is in the picks, it so heavily favors Fox that it’s essentially a guaranteed win.
I'm crying for him, what a show of resilience
18:05 That was the moment that changed Melee forever.
And if it wasn't SDI, please tell me what it was. I don't know much about Melee or it's potential glitches and features.
It happened again at GTX 2017 lmao
@@cubesolver2564 It was 100% SDI. Hungrybox is a master of SDI. Watch one of his matches at GENESIS Black. Hungrybox went under the name of Genghis Juan for this tournament. He did this because of a stream challenge. ruclips.net/video/ta3PrhCLHO8/видео.html look at 2:30 in this video. You will see Hungrybox teleporting left during the up air and then down during the back air. Hungrybox has been required to master SDI so he can get out of up air and other moves. And he has also mastered DI so he can live mainly Fox up smash after Hungrybox lands a rest on Fox. Hungrybox's SDI is insane and he absolutely changed Melee by winning EVO 2016 and he only was able to survive that up air because of his SDI
@Comment Cop you have no idea what you are talking about\
At the time this was excruciating to watch but looking back , jeez it’s still excruciating . bring back EVO for Smash
Can't believe Mang0 fanboys have already proclaimed Mang0-Zain at Summit 11 is the best set of all time. This is still better IMO
Those two runs were kind similar in a way. Both knocked into Loser's early and both felt defeated and wanted to leave but scratched and clawed their way to taking it all.
Both have a case for the greatest sets of all time. But I agree that this one is better
Both are amazing with the Loser runs into crazy game 5 comebacks
@@paolosworld99 agreed
Now I know how Might Guy feels when Lee is succeeding.
31:36 I love you crowd
Gonna own a Switch soon and after watching some Smash videos . I got here . Both Armada and Hbox are incredible . Gg
yeah, hbox and armada are pretty great.
The beginning of the era of Hbox, glorious. Sad he doesn't get a run back with that brat Leffen, melee will be back at EVO in 2020, watch.
Im sorry but Leffen made his mark if you ask me he is the only player eho says stuff as it is and doesnt sugarcoat it or try to be politcally correct
Crazy K I mean yes, that’s how leffen is. And that makes him one hell of a player, but in all honestly he’s kinda impatient. That’s why he always falls short to hbox, (most of the time) and especially in GF. 2 sets against HBOX is so mentally tiring, I 100% respect armada for doin this against him at gtx 2017 and here. Respect ARMADA.
Sorry dude, but this is Ultimate's moment
Yeah I hate leffen for how much of an asshole he can be sometimes. I like hbox waaaaaayyyyyyy more
Crazy K Leffen is pretty PC
That reaction from Hungrybox... Shit, I felt that. He fuckin earned that win.
40:00 Frame one jab
it's 2024 im still coming back to this
It was no coincidence the finals took place at the Pokemon Stadium stage...
40:20 aw man I wanted more, but man poor armada man
H box is such an inspirational figure
Hbox landing rest is so fking satistfying
18:05 the moment that changed everything
defeating a fox in melee using a jugglypuff is having balls
lol armada sitting there like Keanu Reaves at the end
The greatest of all time in his game, an argentinian who had to leave his home at a very young age, who gave it his all but came short of the ultimate glory for many years, until he finished his story on the biggest stage possible in arguably the best match of all time.
Yeah I’m talking about Juan Debiedma, aka Hungrybox, who else?
I came back here for my dude hbox favorite melee dude
I never wouldve thought being a mang0 fan that one of my top 3 sets of all time is an hbox armada set
based rational melee enjoyer
Best set in melee ever.
some bro commented trumps assassination attempt at 18:06
This is probably my favorite melee set oat
"If you like hbox, I want to hear you cheer" dead silence lmaooo
This is History.
This was 8 years ago
You gotta love how literally everyone plays another character when they face hungrybox
