  • Off a gravel trail inside Whidbey Island's Trustland Trails Park sits a phone booth where words ride on the wind. Consider it a sort of "airway to heaven."
“Hi, grandma. I just wanted to give you an update on life,” Liz Owen-Williams said into the phone. “I feel so blessed there is a wind phone on this island, so I continue to speak to you.”
Owen-Williams was using what's called a wind phone to speak to her grandmother. Rooted in Japanese culture, it's a place where anyone can come, lift the receiver and have a personal conversation with someone who has passed on.

For those who be critical of this "wind phone", consider that people burdened by significant grief often find relief via "conversations" with those they have lost.

@@dh2392 It's totally your choice, of course. My point was simply that some people find tremendous benefit from (privately) talking to those they have lost.

The people who have passed on still exist, not in the physical realm but rather in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved them.

I tried it. I had high hopes but I kept getting a busy signal.

This is wonderful however you don’t need a wind phone. You need a place in your heart and a quiet moment. As far as the grieving mother I hope she can move on soon. Losing a baby is terrible, when you see a mother still grieving it makes abortion inconceivable that people willingly kill their children. She would give everything for just one more minute to be with her son. Godbless you dear. Your little boy will be with you forever.

Naw, the gift of life should be celebrated. Those that pass before us would want you to be happy. Remember that. Nobody gets out alive. Live while you can.

Don't pray! Go to the windbox! There is no god only the people, the collective, we will give you what you know in your heart is missing! This is a symptom of godless people.

@@thereissomecoolstuff I don't think you really mean that. Just believe, have faith. If you're right, no harm done. If you're wrong, however, you might spend eternity in a bad, bad place. Look up the word 'eternity' and think to yourself if you want that to happen. I said a prayer for you because I care. I really do.
