They go too ham on those stupid speed humps. It should only be used near schools. or atleast make them smaller for the road. you ever go on those AT the speed limit? still uncomfortable.
They installed one of these at an intersection in Ewa Beach, and it made the intersection more dangerous and has caused a few accidents as well. This particular intersection should have been a 4-way stop.
I’m guessing you don’t remember the amount of people who died because of people driving out of ewa beavh park drunk and speeding down that road. I’d rather cars crash into each other then people die. People just need to learn how to slow down

Nuisance to drivers as well! Set up where there is hardly any pedestrians crossing the street. 2 pedestrians - 500 cars.
I like the ones up near Kahuku where there's nothing but trees. Might be a chicken crossing the street, I guess.

Seems to me like c&c with their big ass speed bumps are creating a nuisance.
I am in New Zealand and we have the same problem with control freak polititions infesting roads with speed bumps. In my city proffesional drivers are assaulted by speed bump 16 - 88 times per day depending on the route. The excuse for speed bumps is to improve safety. BS. Distracting people going into an intersection is ANTISAFETY.
There is no reason to put speed bumps on artirial roads, other than deliberate traffic harassment.
Also there is a law making it illegal to obstruct emergency vehicles attending an emergency. OOPS. Councils are liabile. OOPs and OOPs
Some speed bumps are so bad fire trucks have been damaged!!!
All these are penalty to good drivers!
Got one in front my home and the sound from the large trucks sounds like a car crashing into my garage.

I'm just saying but, in Costa Rica They would just simply block the roads with their cars and bodies until the authorities complied. The whole country comes to a screeching halt!!! It would work here the same.

To every homeowner living next to one of these, our hump has caused vibrational damage to our home from cracks in the walls to cracks in the grout to the separation of tongue and groove walls and canec paneling. Kona has its share of unnecessary ones. Some are so big many people nosedive into the pavement even going slowly. The money would be better spent repaving our neglected roads. Some haven't been repaved in 25 years or more. Ali'i Drive is way overdue.
Same with East Hawaii. Poor maintenance - all over island, roads, county buildings, etc - yet can put in speed humps without research/ or engaging their brains.

The humps are too shallow to be effective. They are practically ramps and not speed humps. There is a perfectly made speed hump in front of a near by elementary school, but all the ones that were made later are half assed garbage. People can’t see them either.
city hall will hire a bee keeper to get BEES TO MAKE SOOTHING SOUNDS that override the road noises...it'll only cost taxpayers $625k a year.
->if you wonder about bee stings, city hall is already looking in to building a BEE STING HOSPITAL & hire a full-time staff to deal with the stings.

Speed bumps have been put in new areas. They are just over kill installing them. I went through 3 speed bumps in about 15 yards in a parking lot yesterday! These do gooders need to get a life!!!!

Wrong, the message clearly states that there's no need for them. There's no schools around there. Try use your brain. How can an ambulance save someone's life in that situation time of the essence? How can a fire truck get to a fire quickly?

Speed bumps are much more effective
speed hump is different from a speed bump. speed hump you can go over safely at a max of 30 mph as stated on the posted sign. the cars in the video is not going any faster than maybe 15-20 mph. you know what you guys need speed cameras, just like nyc. there is literally speed cameras at every other block. just wait till Dot put those up in hawaii and you would just wish you would kept your mouth shut about the speed humps.

Aren't da Cops paid to enforce traffic laws like speeding. Remove the speed jumps and tell HPD to do what they are paid to do. Breaking the speed limit is still breaking the law and laws need to be enforced. No only show up when somebody gets killed, then it's too late. Enforcement changes behavior. Do your fricken job, HPD. Stop cruzing at 7-11 drinking soda😮
The year Lanikai residents complained about speeders - HPD went out and tagged drivers - but had to stop because it was all the residents who were the speeders.
I agree in Colorado it's like Mad Max on our crapola roads. No regards for traffic laws.

Waste of tax payer money just like the rumble strips they use for freeway exits.
The should make the humps more Newtonian engineered so that if you hit them at them around the speed limit you ride smooth if u go over the speed limit to much u get bumped harder.
Properly designed speed humps do exactly that. However, they're limited to roads with relatively low speed limits, such as 15-25 MPH. 35 MPH is somewhat too fast for those to work effectively. More stop signs might help, but comes with drawbacks. More speed enforcement and cameras are what's really needed for that road.

If people can’t read speed limit signs, install speed cameras then maybe behavior will change
