- Hello and welcome to my first impressions review of the wonderful Tudor Pelagos 39. If you are on the fence about this watch... jump off the fence right now! :) This is the "One Watch" collection i've been searching for! Game over :)
/ time_time_again
I think you’ve just made my decision for me, months and months of watching p39 videos and this is the one I was looking for, great quality video, I think it will accompany my North Flag prettt good 👍
Glad to help and I'm confident you won't regret it my friend! 🙏👍
stunning piece perfect blend of utilitarianism coupled with finesse. Love the hint of red and the titanium. One of the watches I consider perfection and it fits your wrist perfectly; congratulations on the purchase. This one is on my short list.
Thanks mate and totally agree! 🙏👍
I have this watch, I really like how looks in this video
I got mine off eBay for a bargain £2,400 6 weeks ago. I haven’t worn anything else since. I go to put my BB58 red dot 🔴 on for a change but quickly switch back to my Pelagos, love the dial, gun metal bracelet and red text.
That is a bargain!
The emphasis is on the first syllable!!! It’s Pélagos, not Pelágos!! It’s a greek word (πέλαγος) and means “the sea”! For example: The Aegean Sea = Το Αιγαίο Πέλαγος!
Yes, this has already been observed a few times haha. Thanks, AGAIN 😀👍
I got one of these on Monday and to be honest I’m not that impressed with it, It looks amazing but the sharp edges and light weight makes it feel less premium than I’d like for a watch at this price point. I do not think the finish is up to par compared to other Tudor watches like the black bay 58. It’s how it feels on the wrist I do not like specifically as compared to my Rolex submariner it feels cheap and scratchy whilst it rattles on the wrist unless worn over tight. Maybe titanium is not for me but overall a disappointment.
I have never seen this watch looking as gorgeous as it does in this video. Well done for the video quality. You have renewed my interest in it becoming my first ‘luxury’ watch.
Thank you my friend and it would be a great choice! 🙏👍
It really does look gorgeous in person, I had my heart set on the Black Bay but once I put the P39 on my wrist it was over! I bought that instead at my AD.
Nice move. I bought one yesterday! I fell in love with it due to the size and the presence of a black dial diver💯 It’s definitely a rare find. My AD said he was surprised that the P39 made it into the “display case.” He tried to explain to me what that meant due to the demand. But I am happy that I got to experience it. I really think that RUclips doesn’t do it justice. The sunburst dial is not very prominent. The black dial swag is much more present. I also felt like I had some closure with buying this watch from that dealer. And the black dial diver search is also over. Of course the Rolex factor is always an exception😅
Fantastic mate! I feel exactly the same! Except I honestly don’t have a longing for a Rolex! For now haha 👍
Unbelievably Christopher Ward and even some AliExpress watches have easy change spring bars. You would think luxury watches would have these.
Yes indeed. I have the trident pro 300 and it's a joy to strap change on that! Really don't understand why other brands like Tudor don't do the same 👍
The watch looks beautiful on your wrist. What size is your wrist?
Thanks! 16cm 🙏👍
Looks like you changed your mind. What happened after that bold statement😂. Hope you get the BB54👍
I’m guessing you’ve seen me on facebook? 😂 I’m a little bit torn to be honest. I do really like the look of the bb54 though if I’m completely honest 😊👍
@@Time_and_time_again yeh 😂 it made me laugh as I thought of this review. I can understand why you would want the BB54 though, have you been to an AD and tried one on?
Love my Pelagos 39 - it’s so wearable and light for daily use.
I also have a Submariner 124060, Pelagos FXD MN21 and the P39 gets the most wear . Also love my Sinn 103 sa BE, Sinn 856 S UTC, Studio Underd0g 🍉, Seiko Prospex Speedtimer 🐼 and Seiko SKX 🥷.
Sounds like an amazing collection there Adam; 😊🙏👍
😂🤣This is my one watch now 🤣😂All that I'm ever gonna need😂😄
😂😂😂
Kidding yourself Al
@@darrenowens1830 yep lol
Do you still own it? I've had mine for 2 and a half weeks after waiting 9 months to buy it retail. I'm still in the honeymoon period; I like the idea of owning the BB54 as well, but I hope I don't get a call until at least a year from now.
@@JLUnit416 I sold it and now have the bb54. I’m starting to regret selling the pelagos though. Can’t really afford both watches so I’d have to sell the 54 to go back to the pelagos. It’s something I’m contemplating 😊👍
Excellent footage, thank you.
Thanks 🙏👍
I was all in definitely getting one of these and managed to look at a display one on release day. That watch had shocking quality issues including the bezel seizing up while I was looking at it. It almost felt like it was going to fall off which is quite common apparently. The bracelet was baggy too and had massive play in the clasp which is also quite common along with virtually no lume on the hands. I had a look at another one last week and it felt a lot better bezel wise but it still had a sloppy bracelet and virtually no lume on the hands again. I got the call for my one recently because stories of quality issues are well known now and people are not buying them. I decided to leave the watch after loosing confidence in Tudor and their quality control. I hope yours is ok because on paper it’s a great watch but for that much money Tudor need to do much better.
Sorry to hear you had a bad first experience mate! I’ve also seen some reports on quality issues etc but also seen some great reviews. I must be one of the lucky ones as I can’t find fault with mine 🙏👍
@@Time_and_time_again excellent 👍🏼 maybe they are sorting it out. It’s just a shame it happened in the first place. It fits you really well so hopefully you won’t have any problems with yours. If you get any small marks try using a grey scotch pad. If you rub in the same direction as the brushing you can get a really good result that’s almost invisible. All the best 🙏🏻
@@leeharding8306 thanks for the great tip mate! I was going to have a Google of that at some point but don’t need to now 😊👍
I have a week with mine from a big AD and I'm having winding issue it's making a nasty grinding noise I walking in with my one week young 39 I didn't even get to enjoy it yet. It's making a terrible grinding almost like if the ratchet and winding gear are t leveled but I have experienced before on another Tudor BB all steel. Sucks.
@@josevasquez1781 it’s funny you should say that (well not literally) as my winding experience has developed a similar issue! Just doesn’t feel right. I will do an updated video on it 👍
Very nice watch Al, lovely
Cheers mate. I let this go but I’m now regretting it! Haha
Great video. I’m very close to getting one of these and this has definitely helped. My wrist is the same size as yours so great to see it looking so good on you
Thanks mate 🙏 it’s a great choice! If you have the same size wrist then I’d also take a look at the 54 (I’ve also done a video on this) 😊👍
@@Time_and_time_again I did think about the 54, but I’m really after something more modern looking
Fair enough, the pelagos is a great watch! 👍
I'm gonna hold you to that one watch pledge Alan 🤣 Well done mate! The Pelagos is a gorgeous watch. If I'm to buy another Tudor it will be one of these.I currently own the burgundy bezel 41mm with the in house movement.
😂 it was a very bold statement haha. Love the 41mm burgundy look too. If they bring out a 39 one day that’ll be on my radar 😊👍
I’d love to know if this is still your one watch? Before I fall down a rabbit hole I could just buy this and be done! It’s a fantastic looking watch, great dimensions.
The hunt is over lol . Well done mate a beautiful time piece
😬 thanks mate 🙏👍
You got rid of your 38mm C60? 😢
Yes but I want it back!!! 😂👍
Did you forget about the lume?
Yes, as always! 🙈😊 sorry 😭 I don’t have the watch now but I will say that the lume was great apart from the difference in colour/intesty between the hands and markers was very noticeable 👍
such a great watch
100% agreed mate! 🙏👍
Great looking watch
I think so too! 🙏👍
The bezel looks stunning in this video…
Pelagos 39 and white chronograph panda best Tudors
Very nice.....got mine 3 weeks ago.
You still love it as much after 3 weeks? 🙏👍
@@Time_and_time_again yes great watch....
Cheers, on your 1..final watch. Good on you! However, for selfish reasons I'm a bit sad. You're one of my favorite Utube watch channels. Meaning? You probably won't be doing many watch reviews from here on out. Your relaxed style and calm British (Scotish? Northern England..?) voice is a joy to listen to. Always, a great presentation. 😊
Thank you for your kind words john! I will still do some reviews. I’m hoping if I get enough subscribers I will get offers from viewers to review some of there watches 😊👍
Very nice - I can see where CW 300 got some of its styling from - let me know when it's for sale LOL B-)
Lol, hope you’re still enjoying the CW that’s also a great watch! 😊👍
Tip for you..Ink Erasure will remove those scratches easily..
Great tip! Thanks mate 🙏👍
It’s Pé-lagos with the accent on the E! It means “open water” in Greek 😉
Yes but I’m slightly Scouse not Greek haha 👍
How much does it weigh on the sized bracelet?
I’m not sure sorry. I’ve moved it on now and have a bb54 on the way! 🙈👍
I thought it was a keeper 🤣
@@LoganChannelVr had to sell to fund my bb54 that’s all 😊👍
Looking forward to your review of the bb54. Might be a keeper 🤣👍
@@LoganChannelVr already uploaded mate! And yeah it might be 😂👍
Do you miss this watch? The reflecting dial looks awesome 🤩
Yes! 😢👍
Like you I recently got into watches. I bought a titanium Zelos to try because spending this kinda of money on a watch initially seemed alot. But I think I will have to treat myself as I don't see a watch that I like more. I'd also much rather a Tudor than a Rolex.. even though tudor are the sister brand I think they offer better value and also less flash than any Rolex.
Treat yourself! Yes I also like Tudor for the same reasons 🙏👍
Awesome watch and great review? What’s your thought after almost two weeks of owning it? Do you still have it as I read your looking at another Tudor?
Sorry for the delay! I still love it but yes I do have it up for sale but only because I really want to have a play with the bb54! 🙏👍
that's an awesome watch, love the black bays ...I would pick Tudor over Rolex sub any day.
I’d agree my friend! 🙏👍
Delighted to see how pleased you are with Pelagos, hope to soon be the same.
Bought one!!! Happy!!
@ 17:48, It called safety clasp. If iam not wrong.
Sounds right to me mate thanks 👍
To center the clasp, just flip the bracelet’s orientation.
That’s a good idea thanks!
I fell in love with this watch the moment I saw it, I was on a waiting list for several months before getting the call from my AD, sadly when I tried it on i felt the clasp is just too long and dominated the watch so I decided against purchasing. However, every time I see photos or reviews like this I'm tempted to go for it. How do you find the clasp? Is it too long?
Hi, I’ve moved this watch on now as I wanted to fund the bb54 which I now have. If I could afford both I’d keep both! I just feel the 54 is more versatile with the polishing on on the case and bracelet etc but I still love the pelagos and what that offers. Honestly didn’t enter my head about the clasp being too long when I had it! I loved it on the rubber strap and the bracelet so was a non issue for me 🙏👍
@@Time_and_time_again well I bit the bullet and added the watch to my collection 😂 thanks for your reply! So far I’m loving the watch 🥰
@@iancberry congratulations on an amazing watch mate enjoy! 😍👍
Pretty nice watch, and lovely song at the end... what is the name of the song and singer?
Thanks mate and it’s a little song I wrote and performed for my channel 😊👍
@@Time_and_time_again , you have future as a singer as well!!!
Same for me - I just picked up a Pelagos 39 next day online after waiting for months ‘on the list’. It’s also the same week I sold my blue Pelagos 42 and it is everything I loved about that watch and a little bit better in my eyes. Slimmer, no date, classic submariner colour scheme, a touch more dressy with the sunburst effect which is perfectly subtle, no helium escape valve. Yet it retains the things I loved, the titanium that still looks great when scratched, clicky bezel with the extra resistance at 12, snowflake hands, stylish markers with great lume, easy to read dial. I will be leaving mine on the bracelet as I love the way it feels. Just as nice to wear as my other prized watch an Explorer 214270.
Perfectly sums up why this watch is so great! 👏👏👏
I have a P39 which I wear a lot, was looking at a U50 which I saw you sold to fund this. Any regrets?
Also which one wore better in your opinion ?
The sinn u50 was a great watch but just lacked the versatility I was looking for. If money was no concern I’d definitely have one in a collection! The p39 just ticks more boxes and allows me to try a “one watch” collection strategy 😊👍
@@Time_and_time_againThanks for helping me decide. I also was considering the Sinn U50. Will buy Pelagos 39 like yours. Pelagos from the Greek word SEA, pronounced “Pel-Ah-Gos”, not like pelican. Congrats!
The only part of the watch I'm not keen on is the sunburst on the dial. Absolute beaut regardless
Congrats! What about play in the T-Fit micro adjustment? I’ve seen some videos where it is significant and others that don’t mention it. Your thoughts?
It’s not something I’ve noticed to be honest but haven’t really used it as it first perfect with the 4 links removed. I will have a play around and see if I notice! Currently have it on the strap so can’t check right now unfortunately 👍
@@Time_and_time_again Is the strap stiff or flexible? I was also thinking that since the bracelet is off, it should be pretty easy to grab a link on each side of the clasp to see if there is any wiggle in the T-Fit mechanism. Outside of that...I have no real concerns about scratching and will be collecting mine shortly ⌚
@@alanalbright69 the rubber is a little stiff but I’m guessing that it may take a little time to wear in! Definitely feels and looks high quality but may get more comfortable as it starts to take proper shape around my wrist. Yes it’s probably better to check the bracelet whilst it’s off but unfortunately it’s in my office so can’t grab it at the minute. I will update for you tomorrow though 🙏👍
what's your wrist size?
6.25” 👍
Wow, it really looks good. I liked: Move on and obsess about something else :)
😊 yes I'm going to have to find something! 😂👍
For some reason it makes sense :)
@@Siskovski yes got to fill the void now. Hopefully find something more helpful like inner peace 🙏👍
It's borderline too big for you. You almost get away with it.
Agreed!
How do you find the lume on the hands? I ony just bought a 40mm black Trident 300 and already dreaming of the Peli 39, you’ve just made it worse 😂
Sorry! 😂 I haven’t even looked at the lume yet to be honest but I’ll let you know soon 🙏👍
Is it any better than Christopher Ward C60 Trident? That’s my current go to watch and I am interested in Pelagos 39. I guess it would be good to do long term review to see how grade 2 titanium copes with scratches. I guess my hesitation is because comparing with the CW Trident I can’t see what is the added value. And I don’t want to pay three grand just for the name on the dial.
It’s certainly a real dilemma! I really liked the CW trident pro 300 and it’s amazing value for money! It’s so subjective and sometimes it’s just the way a watch makes you feel that counts. Different design elements, different materials, different look and feel. I actually really like both watches for different reasons. I can easily see why the CW could tick a lot of boxes for someone choosing between the 2. I can also see the Tudor would be the choice. Ideally I’d have both in my collection and enjoy them! Hope this helps 😂👍
@@Time_and_time_again do you feel the quality difference between Trident pro 300 and Tudor?
Will you do a long term review on Tudor please? To be honest grade 2 titanium is the only thing stopping me to pull the trigger.
My Trident is 38mm and is perfect size for me, does this 39 wear much different?
@@alexmood6407 hi mate, yes I will eventually do a long term review of the Tudor. Both watches wear really well on my 6.25” wrist. I may give the edge to the Tudor as it’s nice and light but at the same time doesn’t really effect the quality feel. If you’re worried about the titanium feeling less quality then I wouldn’t say it does. If you’re worried about the fact it’s more prone to scratches then that will probably be a genuine concern as I’ve marked up the lugs (with strap changes) much easier than I’ve done on other watches. I’ve yet to catch the case on a door or anything yet so I haven’t marked the watch or bracelet but it will definitely happen! I’d highly recommend just going to an AD and trying one on to experience it first hand! 🙏👍
@@Time_and_time_again thanks. The good thing about scratching titanium is that most of the time the scratches just remove the titanium oxide layer and in time when the scratched area oxidises the scratches blend back in. They have almost self healing properties.
@@alexmood6407 that’s great to know! 😊👍
I just don't get it,4k for a obvious Sub copy, dial looks just meeh without applied markers and construction is done with cheap grade 2 Titanium and ETA clone. For that money you can buy diver grail watches or way better sport options, for 1k more you can even buy the mythical Snowflake in grade5 Titanium.
I can’t think of any other subject that offers such a wide variety of opinions! I respect your opinion on the watch 🙏👍
@@Time_and_time_again Yeah Tudor is a quality brand undoubtedly and Pelagos have excellent clasp system but on the other hand for 1100$ you can buy a Mido Sea star with clasp and braclet which can rival even the best like the Rolex.
Here's the impression...too damn small
Certainly not the case for a 6.25” wrist but I can see how it would be too small for a larger wrist 😏
@@Time_and_time_again 42 LHD model is the best.
@@teslatalk42069 not for my wrist it wouldn’t be lol
