    I don’t see the problem. Many of us with older Coaches like my Country Coach only hold 120 gallons of fuel and I’ve never thought about it or wished for more. I’d gladly take more water and black tank capacity over more diesel. 600 miles per tank of fuel is plenty for me.

  • @yesher12

    We bought our 2020 KA 2 years ago and we have the 200 gal fuel tank. It was one of the reasons we bought it. Our coach was built at the end of 2019 and it has been absolutely awesome since we bought it. We had a few small issues that the previous owner could not fix because he was not handy, at all. We love our Newmar KA.

  • @DanChild
    @DanChild Месяц назад +10

    Totally disagree. I65 gallons of fuel is adequate - 200 is better - but I would much rather have additional fresh water and grey water storage. I am probably different than most KingAire owners in that we do 80+% boondocking and are seldom in campgrounds. For that reason I want water and holding tank capacity and anything in the 150 gallon or larger fuel tank is more than adequate - giving you about 1,000 miles of range.

The incredible price increase is also to compensate for the buyout of Newmar, making the consumer pay those costs when there is no real value added to the products.

    Our amazing 2014 King Aire had 200 gallon capacity diesel AND 140 gallons fresh water. So not only is the new King Aire models that cost over $650K more in a 3 or 4 year span they have lowered the capacity for certain people that appreciate the larger tanks including freshwater tanks. I sure wish they went to the combined black and grey like Newell and Foretravel. We will sometimes be at a track for over 10 days and run on generator and boondock and I can assure you we miss the extra fuel and freshwater capacity. We also had solar and 16 Lifeline AGM's in our King Aire and they have downsized capacity as well with 2 lithium packs standard so there is a considerable difference with weight. The reduction in batteries is already a significant weight reduction. Again, he's making a valid observation. It's good to know information for those that would think the same model would have the same basic specs and capacities not downgraded capacities over the years especially for such a huge price jump. Good job Andrew! Just wanted to let you know there already was a serious reduction in weight with capacities.

  • @JeffWhiteIV

    If the tank filled easily at truck stop flow rates I’d be fine with 35 gallons less. My 200 gallon tank in my Foretravel Realm has a long nearly horizontal fill tube that makes me fill generally at the slowest fuel handle setting at the truck stop. It’s a pain! I think it would be cool if they would put a 20 gallon header tank in the design, and make it where you would absolutely know when you were down to that last 20 gallons of usable fuel.

  • @justinharrell9256
    @justinharrell9256 Месяц назад +2

    35 gallons of diesel is 250 lbs on a coach with a 54,000 lbs GVWR, the lowest NCC is the 4558 floorpan at 3800 lbs, so 3550 instead if it had a 200 gallon tank. Seems ok to me, although look at the 2022 specs the NCC did go down even with the 165 gallon tanks, so the whole thing has gotten heavier for some reason, where did the weight go? Not sure if its a space issue too, fuel tank divides first bay not sure if they regained some storage space, 250 lbs seems like so little to make a difference.

    • @DLTJR1959
      @DLTJR1959 Месяц назад

      Agree. The coach got heavier so Newmar did the right thing to keep the NCC in harmony with the GVWR. Additional weight is probably due to changes on the house side. I would expect the Spartan K3 to weigh the same as before but who knows. Some coaches were overloaded from the factory back in the day. I know. I own one that had recalls to address that very issue. And it's not a "production" run of the mill coach.

    105 gallons of fresh water is very limiting to begin with, let alone having only 60 gallons of black water capacity. Maybe two days worth of capacity. Now they cut nearly 200 miles of range off of the diesel tank. This really narrows the type of buyer for a coach in this price range to a pole to pole type usage. There are a lot of high end coaches out there that can do a lot more for $1.6m.

They also need to update their floor plans… the ones they have are getting stale now💯💯💯💯In order to compete with the best they have to offer more options for the customer… especially when they raises their prices 60% over 4 years…. A lot of this starts with the next generation that doesnt want to own the business and work but wants the inhertance money like they are entitled to it. Jsyco, Newmar, and Tiffen being sold should be huge indications of where we are going as a country. The industry as a whole has lied and chose to chase after fleecing the american public.

      The past shows us that it will be too late when they attempt to rectify their mistake , they are done and have entered their death spiral . This will happen to all the manufactures soon enough , all of the motor coach industry has been artificially inflated for far too long , and they all have run out of added value to include in attempts to gain the consumers interest . We are in a very real time where people are turning away from recreational vehicles and all the work and high cost involved , folks are finding the cost of food to out weigh the need for toys . The end is very near for this industry , it will change to maybe one or two companies left only doing custom motor coaches , and at reasonable prices , or even with price caps , time will show you . I have seen with my very eyes many other industries go under the same way , it is already done .

    You can only drive so many hours without a break. I don't run my tank past half before I am ready to fuel up. Not because I need fuel, but dogs gotta pee. I think much ado about nothing. I would be incensed if they shrunk the water tanks of any flavor. However, I wholeheartedly agree Winnebago and Thor have not done anything to improve the brands. Just jack the prices using the pandemic as an excuse, same as the rest of the world.

      They haven’t downgraded or changed the quality, they have basically left it alone with the exception of adding more safety features. For a production coach Newmar is beautiful.

    Remember the King Aire was already nearly 15,000lbs lighter than most of its competition with 200 gallon fuel tanks. So the King Aire can still travel just as far, if not further, than the competition.

      Huh? When was it 15k lighter? They have had around a 54k gvwr as long as I can remember.

    • @macbook802
      @macbook802 Месяц назад

      Google shows 49k lbs for the King Aire and 63k lbs for the Newell. Even at 54k, 9,000 lbs is a huge amount of weight, especially when you consider most operators have little to no business moving these weights.

    • @DLTJR1959
      @DLTJR1959 Месяц назад

      @@macbook802 Newell's competition is from Prevost converters, not Newmar. Newell's are 2.5 to 3.0 million new just like the Prevost converters. Different level of sophistication and build quality. King Aire's are top of the line production coaches competing with Foretravel.

    • @macbook802
      @macbook802 Месяц назад

      @@DLTJR1959 that's what you are told to think. In actuality if you took a king aire and a newell, parked them outside of a mall, then asked random people with no affiliation to the industry to examine them and figure out which is better. I'm guessing it'd be a 50/50 split. And then in actuality actuality, if the two are as close as they seem in videos, and the newmar is 9,000 lbs less weight, I'd choose the lighter option every day. Plus saving a million wouldn't hurt either

    I have to disagree. 165 gallons at 6 miles to the gallon is still almost a 1000 miles not counting reserves and generator or hydronic heat usage but still easily 650 to 700 miles. I would not want to sacrifice holding tank capacities especially fresh water to go from 165 gallons of fuel to 200. Did they increase holding tank capacities or just reduce fuel capacity? The price is ridiculous for a production coach that has suffered in quality since Thor purchased them. A used bus or maybe a Newell is a smarter purchase in my opinion.

  • @mason7300
    @mason7300 Месяц назад

    What’s really going on is that there are thousands of new millionaires from the market and many want to spend it. Thor knows this and they will sell every single one. And if 165 gallons isn’t enough you have a problem.

    They are simply going to price themselves right out of business . Less people are interested in RV's than ever before the interest in them and all the work involved has largely dissipated , sure rich people will always want their toys , but even though I don't care for rich pigs all that much , I have to believe that they are smart enough to purchase value over flashy expensive bling that is in the process of down sizing all the amenities . R.I.P. is all I'll say .

    Andrew, this video shows how inexperienced you actually are when it comes to motor homing. I’m certainly disappointed with Newmar’s or Spartan’s decision here. But I would not trade water or holding capacity. It’s already too small. Imaging a week at the track or boondocking. Fuel is not the biggest problem. My allegro bus has 150 gal of fuel which gives my 1000 mile range. Way more than one would drive in a day
