  • In this video, we will be replacing the rear brake shoes on a Dodge Ram. This is on a Dodge Ram 3500 but the Ram 2500 and the Ram 3500 used the same brake shoes for this year range. It is not a hard job replacing the brake shoes on a Dodge Ram, any DIY person could do watch the video on Dodge brake shoe replacement and save some money.

    Really good explaination and detail, thank you. I've done enough brake jobs I don't need my hand held thru the process but this video showed me the right location of parts and order of install. The part about bending that e-brake tab is extremely useful for this particular truck.

    Don't forget take a picture with your cell phone of the brakes setup before disassembly. Been doing brakes all kinds for now on 65 years. Never know.

      When a man says "use a flat screwdriver or other tool to push RIGHT HERE, and then clip the hanger on"...or "use some vice grips to grab and pull the spring over to THIS hole".... do you REALLY need the man to whip out his 3rd hand to show you the spring being pushed back in?
      Just follow the dang instructions and give an effort man

    Even better because the brakes in my Haynes manual WERENT the brakes in my truck! Lmao or lack of brakes to be exact, I pulled the hub off and only a couple polished chunks of steel fell out so you saved my day!

    You didn't show how you took the breaks apart. I mean actually showing the camera with tools taking it apart step by step..

  • @joejohnston2035
    @joejohnston2035 3 года назад

    It helped me when tweaking the adjustment finger to heat it up a little, then bend it. The metal is very brittle. I broke mine tryin to bend it cold.

    You will always find a Euro car guy into a dodge truck or a dodge guy into Eurotrash cars like BNW VW or Audi. Love dodge and VW myself. Guess some of us like the punishment. Who cares if people say they're unreliable.... More for us.

    Hey Glenn! What drums would you buy? Bendix or dynamic? Is it worth the extra $30

    • @Glennfix

      Bendix is a old reliable brand. But sometimes with drums I don't think it makes a lot of difference.

    Are you using 3 or 6 ton jack stands?

    • @Glennfix
      @Glennfix  3 года назад

      6 ton

    • @AndrewBrowner
      @AndrewBrowner 2 года назад

      does it matter... the entire truck weighs barely over 3 ton.. call it 3.5, if those stands are rated for 3 ton theyll carry 3.5 ton all day long, thats if the entire truck was balanced magically on one stand.. this is the light half of the truck on two of these stands.. if you can find some rinky dink 1 ton stands theyre still plenty strong enough for even a ram 3500 but i doubt anyone makes anything under a 2 ton
      your problem is height rather than weight, you need stands that go high enough preferably without turning the stands into a wobbly mess, no matter how strong the stands are if you can knock them over the trucks gonna fall, i custom made some stands that go a couple feet high and are adjustable to every 1/2" using some 1" square tube inside of some 1.5" square tube, with 3 feet that are spread far apart gives a good 16" diameter to be stable, a 3/8" pin good to something like 12,000 lbs double sheer goes between the tubes, ive violently dropped the front end of my 96 12valve on them without issue
      if i need to extend them all the way up they get wobbly like any stand would, a couple shims pounded between the tubes fixes that quickly
