Creating Breakcore & IDM with LiveCut in 2024

- LiveCut by MDSP Smart Electronix is an awesome FREE audio plugin that's great for Breakcore, IDM and Jungle-style beat mangling & manipulation.
It sounds pretty authentic for late 90's / early 2000s electronic music; more so than a lot of other 'glitchy' plugins out there, e.g. Effectrix or Stutter Edit, in my opinion.
Unfortunately, it hasn't been officially updated past a 32-bit app for many years, so getting it to run on newer machines (such as Silicon Macs) isn't possible, as most computers now only support 64-bit plugins.
Thankfully, due to the plugin being open-source, it's possible to build the plugin yourself and get it running on new machines. I thought I'd make this video to save other people the time googling and figuring this out themselves, as it's not immediately straightforward.

A huge thanks to the online LiveCut community for resurrecting this thing and enabling me to keep using it; particularly eventual recluse, Smojphase & MrBFrank. Massive respect to these people.
Also a huge thanks to my pal @Hex72 for pointing me in the right direction & helping me understand some of their instructions in the first place.
I'm running Mac OS X Monterey 12.2.1 with Logic Pro X and Ableton Live 11, but I have also tested the AU version on the most recent Mac OS X Sonoma 14 and can confirm it works on this too.
