hi mate, thanks for the video, the pic 17 seconds in raising the rangers flag im the second from right with sgt mick jones behind me, remember it well. FAB.
It's a great video but at the start it's the Royal Irish Regiment not the rangers I am proud of my service and every one seem ashamed to show the home service battalions who Earned the CGC It should be the surviving Irish Regements as it shows the Rifles the Faughs , Rangers and the skin's but No UDR CGC . But showed the Royal Irish Regiment as Rangers. please Remember there is another regiment which makes the Royal Irish Regiment in 1914 the call came to Ireland and in Ulster they raised 11 battalions of the Rifles Faughs Skins and They served with pride . Again in 1970 the troubled years of Northern ireland and then the Ulster Defence Regiment raised another 11 battalions. don't forget us guys from the republic and from both sides of the comunity served with pride. Remember those who gave their ultimate sacrifice in our own country Northern Ireland FAUGH A BALLAGH
i was in cattrick when the royal irish amalgamated with the royal inneskillen dragoon guards (hope i am right), that was the start of the irish rangers. i was in the royal signals then and we used to gie ye a doin every saturday night at the harewood club.. god bless lads and lassies. thinking of you always, as are my family, and its a big family.....Haaaaa! they will never grind us down.
Served with this great regiment myself some great times and sad ones to Ballymena Germany, and Cyprus Cpl.George Mc.Kenna feed us.A true Derry, man 🚹 in Paphos.1st.Battlion C.Coy .faughA .Bella.
Remembering my friend, Rgr William (Wully) Best, Korea Platoon, St Patrick's Barracks, Ballymena 1969/1970. Along with Rgr Joe Herron we used to tour a couple of bars before heading to a dance at the Parochial Hall. Some of the local town lads used to take exception to us...
@therangersson Well done. All insignia cover badges compliment a uniform. They are sought after , in trade, by other Regiments and foreign military units. I once tried to trade mine with a Color Sgt,, British Royal Marines. He wouldn't swap. Semper Fi !
@therangersson sorry to be picky, 11 sigs was at helles and 8 sigs was at vimy, i was that soldier. harewood club burnt down? i met most of my true loves there, and some more. these were indeed great times. great soldiers, great people. god bless you and your dad. ps. your dad and i were probably in some of the skirmishes that happenned after the club shut.....lol
@therangersson i am on facebook but dont really know if i have a link, (its an age thing) i will ask my daughter. lorna says i have but dont want to put my e-mail on you tube. i will try and find a way around it tom.
My dad served with 2nd battalion until they amalgamated. He then took the green beret as he didn’t want to stay in a regiment that wasn’t his. He is a Liverpudlian with Irish blood.. very proud

I gather you don't have to be Irish to belong to this regiment. So why call it Irish?
There are a lot of lads from Northern Ireland, the Irish republic and Liverpool lads with Irish blood.
