Band of the UVF? or maybe UDR. My grandfather was with the 1st Bn Royal Irish Regiment aka 18th of Foot. He fought in South Africa and at Mons with the 2nd and was wounded and taken prisoner. The Royal Irish Regiment were stood down and this new UDR try to take their place and even steal their honour. The Royal Irish Regiment whose depot was Clonmel was always and always will be a Regiment form the South of Ireland and not someone who wants to steal their battle honours.
