Doing My first Raspberry build. Hit a lot of hiccups and this video got me through everything. Would like to mention that the SSID is case sensitive.

I watched this all the way to the connector section to realize I was struggling because I didn't get all the pieces in my kit.
Will have to come back to it later when I buy the missing pieces, was setting up a retro pi arcade but this guide was super helpful!

yeah that keyboard layout thing had me stuck for a while until I figured out the problem.
So does the raspberry pi desktop version make the raspberry work like a desktop or is there other programs need to make it work properly.

Why don't you try running a server with an API on raspberry and create an app on the iphone? Then you send requests to the raspberry from the iphone app.

Nice review of the Raspberry Pi Zero. I need to know if this is capable of doing some image processing using an USB connected camera.
I am trying to make a machine vision system that uses a camera connected via USB to capture images, the images are processed using OpenCV, and using some logic, GPIOs on the Pi will be turned ON or OFF.
The application is simple enough, but I need to know if the Pi can handle this.
I hope to implement all this in Python to reduce the complexity. There will not be any other applications running on the Pi.
I got my Pi Zero hardware all fixed up but not sure what to do next? Where and how do you start seeing all this stuff on a screen? Is it connected to a laptop where the hdmi would be connected?
The Pi Zero is its own computer, so you need to connect it to a monitor or TV that has HDMI connection using the mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter and standard HDMI cable. Hope this helps.

What computer did you use? (PS. I looked at the description and watched the video several times TBH).
You should be connecting the Raspberry Pi Zero directly to a monitor so you can see the output and not directly to your laptop/computer. I hope this answers your question.

@@nirupamapoojari9163 the pi should be connected to a monitor or tv via the hdmi input. Unless your laptop has hdmi input which is rare
I'm curious about one thing. If the wifi password was incorrect due to an issue with the keyboard setup, wouldn't the default loginID have also likely had an incorrect password? Or maybe more accurately, once you set up the keyboard properly, wouldn't the previous password have been incorrect?
Other than that, this seems like a good tutorial for absolute beginners (which I am). I'll be coming back and revisiting this video when I get my Vilros kit later this week.

I have followed your tutorial and many other ones online. For some reason I keep running into the same error. Whenever I try to set up the wireless LAN I get the error "no wireless interface found". I can confirm that my board is actually a W, it says so on the PCB, and also in raspi-config I can see "Raspberry Pi Zero W Rev 1.1". I have also tried the headless setup method with a wpa_supplicant.conf file. Do you have any idea what the issue would be? Again, it's not that I can't connect to a wifi network, it's that the Pi doesn't even recognize the wireless interface (!)
Hello there, did you fix it? I am having quite a similar problem. The difference is that my wlan0 stays always DOWN and i cannot find any networks around me. I tried all that you say you tried too. Only issue is that I am doing this from a ssh through usb connection.

I think at least for the initial setup you need a USB keyboard, I ran into the same problem and ended up just using a USB keyboard for initial setup and then after that I was able to setup bluetooth and use a bluetooth keyboard/mouse.

Use the included microUSB to USB adapter to connect your keyboard. You can also get a 2.4Ghz Wireless keyboard and mouse. If you didn't get the adapter in the kit or want to get a wireless keyboard/mouse let me know I can recommend one.

How long will the last part keep running after it is connected to the wifi?
The raw ping command on a Pi runs forever. To get it to just try 5 times type "ping -c5 www.yahoo.com"
This take around 5 seconds.
My rasberry Pi zero W starter kit doesnt come with a power plug do I need one?
It depends on your project, if you will always have it hooked up to a computer via USB cable then you don't need it, however if you need to place your Raspberry Pi Zero somewhere away from a computer and need to always have it on, then a power plug is recommended.

Dremel the side of the case where the card is inside? No dremel: heat a knife or safety pin with a torch or on the stove and pierce the plastic.

Hi, I am aware that I typed an extra w, but if you type wwww.yahoo.com on your web browser it still resolves and takes you to the yahoo website so that wasn't the issue.

you won't be able to connect the Raspberry Pi to your tablet as a monitor, I recommend you get this small monitor that is meant to be used with the Raspberry Pi: amzn.to/2GAhxh4 and you'll also need this video adapter for the Raspberry Pi Zero: amzn.to/2SqXm8g
You may need to configure the sd card to work with your monitor. There’s a youtube about it.
