  • In this video Terry from Jafffa Adventures installs a smart flasher relay into his 200 Series Toyota Landcruiser. This relay allows the dip to flash function which most modern cars are equipped with.
    There are lots more "how to" videos in the LC200 playlist, check them out.

    Terry,
    I nearly lost it and laughed my ass off!!!
    About the direction flashing lights…
    Habe been driving around Beijing 300,000km by now lats 12 years… guess how many time I saw in traffic here our friends used the direction lights while changing lanes. = can count it on 2 hand !
    Another guess…. How many time they use the side mirrors to look before changing lines…. Zero…
    The most useless equipment on cars here is? You guess… the direction lights and side mirrors.!
    So what… Australia and Europe is a different world…. And one more… driving in 🇮🇳 or Lanka would „drive all of you nuts“
    Wishing all of you a safe drive in OZ and will join you next month…
    Cheers and have a nice weekend and pre Xmas time

    Hi Terry love your channel. My wife's Mazda 3 has this feature and I really like it. How much did you end up paying for it?
    Ps. I piss myself watching one of your other videos when you called eBay... ePray😂😂😂 I can totally relate to this each time I place an order.

    I have this feature on my daily driver - and I use it (particularly when changing lanes on the freeway). I wonder if they make them for old rig like the 80 Series. It would be good to fit it on my 80.

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  9 месяцев назад

      My only advice is to walk away and tackle it with fresh eyes tomorrow. There is a detent on the plug that has to be pushed in while you separate the two halves. You’ll get it mate, just keep at it 👍😎

    Hi Terry have you up graded airbox on your 200 ?

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  9 месяцев назад +1

      Not the box itself, but the filter definitely. Since you are asking the question, you are aware the air filtering system on the 200’s is crap. There are two areas where dust can get past. One is between the two halves of the box and the seal, and the other is the filter itself (it does let dust past, despite anything Toyota says to deny it). I’ve been running an oiled unifliter for years now and love it (I also ran one on my 80 for 15 years, and of course my dirt bikes over the years). It lets zero dust past the filter. The seal is much thicker than the factory filter seal, so that takes care of that route of ingress as well. The one thing is however, you must service them regularly. Normal driving for me, that’s every 5000km. Extremely dusty driving, I’ll swap it over every couple of days. I know of all these expensive options and upgrades for the box like the Donaldson, but for me it’s the unifliter every day of the week. Cheers👍😎

    3 seconds is the minimum so what's the point?

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  10 месяцев назад +5

      You can set it to flash as many or as little times as you want. If you are asking the question however, it’s probably safe to say this mods not for you. All good, go well mate

    • @ausguy4385
      @ausguy4385 9 месяцев назад

      @JafffaAdventures sorry just don't understand "why" as you still have to indicate for 3 seconds before changing?
      Does the stork not stay clicked on?

    • @scod3908
      @scod3908 9 месяцев назад

      @@ausguy4385 you tap the stalk not all the way to the detent, and it flashes a few times. In older cars this would usually just momentarily flash the indicator once (like when trucks indicate left/right/left as a "thank you"
      This is why you see so many people on the road now only flashing 3-4 times when indicating. It's a convenience thing, but as you rightly pointed out, it means that people who use it almost never indicate lane changes properly which can be extremely dangerous
      It also means you can't cancel indicating once it has been tapped (eg, if stalk gets bumped accidentally, or you spot someone in your blind spot while doing a head check, or change your mind about which street you're turning down, etc), all of which are potentially dangerous situations

  • @scod3908
    @scod3908 10 месяцев назад +4

    Interesting, we hate this feature on our new Toyota! Didn't realise people did this as an upgrade
    The ~3 flashes is never enough for a legal/safe manoeuvre and it's a pain when you accidentally bump the stalk
    To each their own!
