Yeah, when my cat had UTI issues, my EX-vet tried to pawn off a medicated/prescription food specifically for feline UTIs. I did my due diligence for awhile until the cost of the food became too much for my grad student budget to handle. So I went in to my vet's office, explained why the food was problematic for me, and asked for other options. That vet gave me nothing. NOTHING! Frustrated and feeling more than a little unsupported by a supposed veterinary professional, I went home and dived down the research rabbit hole. After what I learned, I switched my cat over to wet food for her meals, added purified water with electrolytes and 1/4 tsp organic apple cider vinegar to her food for each meal, and supplemented with organic d-mannose (the component in cranberries that helps with healthy urinary function) formulated specifically for cats. My cat hasn't had a UTI in seven years.

Wonderful...I did the same EXACT thing for my border collie after doing my own research and never purchased another bag of that horrible and unhealthy urinarycare food. Sadly, even though her recurring bladder stones dissolved (she did have surgery the first time for the stones) because of doing all of the above - it turned out she had cancer and it spread, which was mostly likely caused by the many UTIs she had 😭 Her vet ignored my pleas for help after I repeatedly told her Aussie’s belly was bloated feeling and would go down some and up again often, which she brushed off as has. I told her many times I did not think it was gas and not only that, Aussie also started having blood in her urine along with the urge to squat frequently...this turned into her feeling that she had to pee every 5-20 seconds on our daily and nightly walks! This lasted for many months as I kept telling her doctor that I thought it is probably cancer and how worried I was, but again she blew me off and said it probably is just a worse UTI/yeast infection and to treat her with more prescribed antibiotics! By the time I was able to get her into the only vet clinic who would give her a CT scan (it was a long wait!), they immediately told me within a few days after the scan that she has a mass and it spread to her lymph nodes. I absolutely blame her negligent doctor, and also myself for not advocating for my little girl much harder. I had to have her euthanized a couple of months later. I had her on many meds for the pain but deeply regret not doing it sooner, especially because her last 4 days she was not able to drink or eat because it must’ve been causing her too much pain at that point. I feel sick everyday knowing she possibly could’ve not suffered if her doctor simply listened to me and had the common sense to see that it was crystal clear that Aussie was greatly suffering and had cancer. Maybe, just maybe the tumor was small enough in the beginning of some of her many symptoms that it could’ve been removed. Or at least even if not, she certainly could’ve been on narcotics and other meds for the last 6months or so of her precious life.

I took one of my puppies in to a vet. One of my pups was four weeks old and having seizures. When I took them to the vet, they tried to diagnose my dog with some thing that never existed. They assumed all the wrong possibilities of my dog and wanted to keep my puppy overnight and told me that it was a possibility I would have to do surgery and he may not live through the surgery. That surgery would it cost me close to $2000 or more. I signed a a waiver to take him home. I did my research, and I prayed to the Lord for an answer. I went did my research went to a local Rite Aid and I medicated my own dog. The next following day the vet called to check to see if my dog had passed. I told the vet what I thought it was and what I found out through my research. I also told him the puppy was doing excellent. He was astonished and shocked and he told me you learn something new every day. Never let a veterinarian tell you something if they don’t really know or have the correct answer go with your gut feeling and do the right thing for your pet. That Puppy is now with its rightful family, and he weighs 175 pounds. If I had listened to that veterinarian who told me he had 40 years experience. I would’ve lost the puppy and I would’ve had a huge vet bill but going with my gut doing my research and taking care of my dog myself and putting the time in I saved his life it’s veterinarians like you who save lives, knowledge is power, and some people take it for granted. We need more people like you in the world.

    I can't stop smiling.
This is actually what I've been doing since the 90's. At first my vet wasn't really happy about that, in fact, he did not appreciate me - without a degree - questioning HIM - but I told him, that in the end we both just want what's best for the animal. So he has been indulging me, always coming to his practice armed with my notebook and pen, a list of questions and asking again if I have not understood something. We now actually have a good relationship. I have come with a couple of things to treat my animals with, that he did not know before. He has always looked into it and when he thought it makes sense, he would also recommend it.
Same thing unfortunately does not go over well with most human doctors. I have gotten into quite some fights when I questioned the treatment of my old parents, especially my mother who was diagnosed with Dementia. I had a cat with Dementia once and we've had quite some success with giving her certain vitamins and changing the food components, so I was thinking it would also make sense for my mother, and guess what: now more and more doctors actually recommend this route - with success. Unfortunately for my mother, her doctors would just argue with me, insisting that I don't know what I am talking about (which is probably true), and they would not change a thing. My mother died shortly after and to this day I am still convinced, that she would have been better off with a change in treatment. It would not have healed her, but probably would have given her a better quality of life. I digress. Thank you for saying out loud, what many of us have suspected all along and giving us reason to continue questioning.

I am sorry your mother had to endure such incompetence. I know where you're coming from. I took my mother into the ER for severe abdominal pain. It radiated to the back as well. Due to 'protocol', they asked their questions and decided she had a back ailment. I told them she had scoliosis and chronic back pain, but that the issue was abdominal. Of course I didn't know anything, so they proceeded. They found multiple myeloma in her spine. They also found a cracked vertebra from osteoporosis. She was 91. After 1 1/2 weeks in the hospital, in extreme pain all the while, now she is retaining much too much fluids. They decide to glue her vertebra with a technique that has never yielded good results, but a good bill. So, her doc asks me if the pain is gone now. I said "why would it be?" No one had looked at her ailment, they were sure it was cancer causing the pain, and now she was gulping air like a fish out of water. Now she had to have a diuretic as she was prone to flash pulmonary edemas due to her heart. I finally got him to get a GI doc to see her. It took 10 seconds to diagnose an ileus. He had me move her onto her stomach and raise her rear. She passed gas and the pain was relieved. In the meantime, for 1 1/2 weeks, she was tortured for no good reason other than these doctors were too smart to be told they were wrong. Her doc marked her as terminal, removed her from his patient list and recommended hospice. He was done with her. She was in home hospice for 3 years, got to see 2 more grandchildren born, had big family re-unions and died at home from a FPE, which she was prone to. I had previously changed her diet dramatically. NO sugar, processed food, box meals, fast food, vegetable oils...plenty of meats, butter, raw veggies, eggs...generally everything they had forbidden her for years. She lost weight, felt better and had energy to mow the yard and (most importantly) go shopping. At least I made her last years more than just breathing, she had a life. Her end of life took 1 day, not weeks or years.

Fantastic advice! My vet dumped me after I wrote a very respectful letter asking about the reasoning behind the increasing number of injections they recommend at every visit. At her last visit, chihuahua developed severe swelling at her injection site, the hair fell out and the skin turned black. A friend suggested colloidal silver and it did restore her skin and the hair did grow back. My friend also told me that injections are universal and not adjusted to the size, weight or age of the dog being injected. I was horrified! My vet of 40 years (same office, different doctors through the years) called me and we discussed my letter to her at length. It was a very good conversation, however she didn’t change her stance on her desire to use all of her patients as pin cushions. I am currently “vet-less” and getting a new puppy in 2 weeks…..I’m a bit apprehensive about how to vet this new puppy. Looking back, I’ve had issues with my pets I can easily link to being injection related. (I don’t have the heart to call them “vaccines” as they don’t do the job the definition of vaccine calls them to do.) I’m so thankful you are out here and providing animal lovers with alternatives to dangerous and harmful “treatments” developed by for-profit pharmaceutical companies and touted by for-profit animal care centers. It’s unbelievable and unconscionable to me to see how much, just in my lifetime, the medical community is no longer interested in healing and making whole humanity and ‘animanity.’ It is profit over heath at our expense. It’s sociopathic. So thank you again for being here!

Thank You for being honest , helping so many. May you always be abundantly blessed. I was a vet tech for awhile when young. Things I saw often heartbreaking. It led me to study alternative care for our dogs and ourselves, we all got healthier together. We later rescued 15 dogs over the years. I made their dog food, used many things you do, got all rescues back in great health. Had many that lived till 17 or 18. All outlived their usual lifespan by years, despite previous owners care. Some Vets we dropped, recognized the upsells quickly. Found a Vet that loved the animals, which sadly now a days can be rare. We had several different breeds, small to large, all loved one another, were such a joy to watch them enjoying their new lives together. We had no children, the dogs were our children. Just had to let our last precious rescue go over the rainbow bridge, to join the big family who went ahead of her. She was 18, 15 yrs. with us. Dogs are sent from above, such a blessing to those who appreciate all they bring to our lives. We are older now, but will love 1 more. Memories and pictures of those who passed on, Priceless. 💖

I was a vet tech for 10+ years in MD. I moved away from where I lived in Maryland and I now have a pet. I am appalled at how veterinarians nickel and dime you to death. I had a big terrier that got into a fight with a cat, and of course she had been bitten and I took her to the vet. My concern, is that a cats mouth is really nasty and where she had been bitten the areas were quite swollen and red, so I wanted to put her on antibiotics. Of course I started her on a regiment of baby aspirin for pain, and to help with the inflammation. my vet chewed me out for using the baby aspirin, now this is a 60 pound dog, I think that 81 mg baby aspirin twice a day is not gonna be a big deal and I gave it to her with food. My veterinarian wanted me to buy an anti-inflammatory from them, And I didn’t want to do that. I agree with you that veterinary medicine is big business people need to be careful and make sure that they do take their pets in when something is serious. I would recommend getting a thermometer that we use on a child, know that the dogs temperature goes up past 101° for a long period of time may be a vet visit.

Had a cat that lived nearly 20 years. He used every one of his 9 lives. I had a good vet at the beginning, he really cared. After he retired...... Anyway, Felix had some kidney problems and was severely dehydrated. We thought it was the end. However, the vet showed me how to give him fluids at home (poor thing, he hated it) instead of taking him to the vet every time he needed fluids. Ultimately, he even got past needing regular fluids. He lived for years after that, ultimately he just was old. I have had some good luck with vets who are very straightforward and have shown me how to care for (and not be afraid to) minor problems. I have horses, geese, birds, cats, dog. A lot of common sense advice from them has helped. My equine vet is not afraid to say " I don't know". Gotta love that.

I can honestly say, thank you for confirming how I was feeling about certain things. My pit had a bump under her armpit, wasn't hard and not attatched to anything, it just seemed to be surrounded by fat. My ex-vet wanted to surgery, biopsy, blood test, etc at first I was very worried. Then I asked "what are the risk of the surgery to remove it?" he said there was none. I was immediately turned off. I work in a hospital that deals with surgeries, there's always a risk and something could go wrong. He didn't want to tell me. I went to a different vet in a different town and they said "keep an eye on it and check it once a week to see if if grows. I honestly wouldn't recommend rushing to do a surgery on your dog since she a little older (9 years) if it's not necessary. If you still feel like something else should be done, we can drain it, but if your dog is acting completely normal and isn't losing alot of weight." You and the other vet confirmed how I feel, i don't want to do anything thats uncessary as expose her to things for no real reason. So Thank you!

Thank you so much. You are amazing and amazingly brave. My kitten was vaccine injured - had an immediate reaction (swollen cheek) then lethargy, vet denied vaccine injury symptoms, pushing back on me. He sprang a fever and the vets were off to the races. I knew his auto immune system was collapsing but they made me out to be crazy. It was terrifying. My cat was sick, they were gaslighting me (4 of them) and all their labs and imagining and treatment protocols only made my Artemis worse. He would majorly collapse after every visit. Then a diagnosis of FIP - all prior vets acting vindicated, like that was the problem all along. Let me tell you that FIP is a man made disease caused by all the regimen of vet visits, vaccines, surgery and stressful handling our very delicate kittens are subject to when their immune systems are still forming (just like infants these days....). Don't subject your cat to it!!! My beautiful Artemis died. But he led the way for his litter brother.... who a week after his death spiked a fever - and yes, the FIP tither high. But now I knew what I was up against. Found the amazing, humane protocols of a late homeopath gem of a woman who treated more thant 500 cases of "FIP", unfortunately many brought to her in the very advanced stages of auto immune collapse. But still 50% cure rate. Catch the signs of the auto immune collapse early! But best of all, follow Dr. Jones' advice. Don't even stress their systems! Google De Villiers and FIP for details. Artemis' litter brother is doing VERY well with homeopathic tx and nutritional support. Dare I say the labs might show a cure? Dr. Jones is completely right - vet care these days is big business and vets push vaccines, drugs, x-rays, scans, ultrasounds and procedures that only stress our animals. Thank you, Dr. Jones. I"m a big FAN of yours!

We only had the puppy injections for our dogs and none since and he has never suggested anything dental, he didn't even think it was worth it to give our dog another rabies vaccine after she went missing for 10 hours during a rabies outbreak since she wasn't bitten or anything. Hes open to alternative medications as long as there's substantial medical evidence it works. He doesn't even do operations unless it's very necessary, our dog had abnormal anal glands and he didn't want to do any unnecessary surgery until her anal glands became enough of a problem after they became badly infected. He's also very open to us asking any questions we want. Definitely a great vet who has his personal number as the emergency number

My first dog in the early 70’s ate canned Alpo that smelled like death. His poop, if left in the yard, very quickly turned white and kind of just disintegrated. I remember asking my husband a few years ago why dog poop lasts forever now. Fast forward to my bald, allergic, and yeasty Westie. We put him on raw food and low and behold, poop that turns white and disintegrates! He’s still bald, but he’s no longer yeasty.
He got all of his vaccines/deworming that was required by law in my Canadian town for dogs 1 and under. He hasn’t had any since. Also, he’s much better since he went OFF the shots for allergies, the steroids, and the darned ‘prescription’ dry food. He used to mope around and honestly look like he had a headache. He would just lay in his bed and squint his eyes. I stopped the allergy treatments, just went with the raw food, and he’s happy and bouncy, even if he’s bald!
Now we’re using your recommendation for shampoo for yeast and he hasn’t had a flare up in ages. I’m certainly not anti-vet, I would take him to her in a heartbeat if I thought that he needed it. I do, however, think we’re over treating animals these days and feeding them some questionable food full of preservatives and goodness knows what else!

THANK YOU! The county where I live has a "must register and tag all pets -- dogs, cats, bunnies, ferrets, et al -- annually with proof of annual vaccination required" REALLY? Now that I'm retired, I'm with my pets close to 24x7. So I totally reject annual vaccines. I've got 3 masters degrees and, as a result, have actually learned how to do research. My dad was a physician and taught me how to read xrays in general. My very trusted vet knows I'll come to her with multiple questions. When sotmething odd comes up and she has to make educated guesses, we research things together. Same with my equine vet. My biggest worry is both of these fantastic vets are also at retirement age. So good thing we have Dr. Jones here!

Dr. Jones, great information, even, better advice! This is a wonderful example of how to improve the quality of your life (&, your dog/cat's life, too) by watching youtube!
DOG MAINTENANCE My 13 year old W. Corgi, aside from scheduled vaccinations, has been to a vet, twice, in his life. Once, for ingesting my grandma's high blood pressure pills. The other, for ingesting marijuana from walking him at the local high school. Other than those two "emergencies", I've had no need...
    1. I make his food (including 2 cups of chicken broth & dashi (bonito flakes & seaweed) soup),
    2. Regular daily exercise, and
    3. Daily cleanings with a clean, damp towel, twice a day, and inspections for signs of inflammation, infections or injury (actually, he's never needed a "bath" in 13 years!)
Even with his "advancing" age, his coat is spectacular, his eyes are like jewels and his teeth are, still, bright white. Strangers we meet on the street think he's a "puppy"!
Good health has it rewards but it comes at a "cost". It's all about putting in the work every single day! If you want to own a animal in peak health their entire life, you have to apply time and effort, 24/7/365. It ain't rocket science. It's all about reaping maximum returns on one of life's great "investments": Your loyal buddy! Dogs need daily "maintenance"!
PS: There's no need to be rude to any vet, but whenever they say, "When was the last time your dog had...?", that's what I refer to as "chumming". They're throwing out bait and looking to get a "hookup". &, it works, every time!...
    Except, on me!

I wish you'd have been my vet! But I've found over the years that 99% of the vet's I have seen don't know what the hell their talking about! I'd arrive with an issue, & naturally they'd have all these other test they wanted to do, even though they couldn't or wouldn't tell me what the current issue was! I did better at fixing the problem myself! Thankfully I never had issues that needed x-rays or what not. I'd just take in pet, TELL them what I needed & wouldn't listen to all the things they said I needed numerous BS tests for! I managed just fine, but needed a vet for antibiotics or spaying my pets. I have ZERO trust in ALL Dr's, pet or human ones! 😆 I've watched you for YEARS & always been impressed with you and how you've always been about the animals & not the money!!! You've helped me with many issues just thru your videos!! Thank you SO MUCH!!

please stop self-doctoring and self-veteranarianing....thats just wrong to your pets. this guy sounds like hes jaded, but that doesnt mean hes right, in fact, he isnt about almost all of this if you ask anyone else.

You have to advocate for your pets! Ask lots of questions face face with the vet. Our old vet retired (loved him) then a new
young doctor bought the practice. Took our 3 year old retriever mix in because she played a ton of ball and was hobbling around. Instead of treating for pain and inflammation, the very first thing that was suggested was a $3600 TPLO surgery. I again asked for pain meds (doggie advil) and anti inflammatories because that makes sense over jumping into a surgery without even taking xrays. Told the vet that I as a human wouldn't jump to surgery without trying meds first, why on Earth would I do that to my dog? Within 5 days of meds and rest, she was healed. That was 2 years ago. 🤷‍♀️

I’ve lost so much respect for vets. It’s become a money maker and not about the care of the pet. Do your homework and skip the vaccines and annual visits.

    BLOAT is a serious condition.
Decades ago my adult GSD was bloated and low growling. It was early internet days and I needed to leave for work at 10:30pm.
Told my wife to call someone if he got worse (we didn't even know of any after-hours vets back then).
I returned home the next morning to find my little buddy had died.
I repeat... BLOAT is a serious condition... Get moving!

My GSD also died from bloat. I took him to the emergency vet immediately but it was a 30 minute drive. They offered surgery at $5K but said the damage was so extensive that they would probably have to euthanize him anyway. Best dog ever! :’-(

Yay, a vet who agrees that kibble causes the disease! I'm trying to pass this message on since I learned the link between kibble and kidney disease, bladder issues etc, and 8 out of 10 times I'm told that " my vet told me to feed this." When will it stop?!

Thank you for supporting what I have known and advocated for 50 years. No dry food for cats. I adopted a 2 & 1/2 year old half Maine Coon that had recently developed frequent urinary tract blockages. He had one about 2 weeks after I got him. $200 vet bill and several sleepless nights later, I finished weaning from the kibble and put him on straight canned food. Over time I have fine tuned that in accordance with his sensitivities-no grains, gluten or fish, esp salmon( too rich), low sodium, no veggies, esp potatoes and peas(obligate carnivores don't need plants or added salt), and minimal or no additives. Read those labels! It need not be prohibitively expensive. Or make your own. And if your pet stays strictly indoors and has little to no contact with other pets, it doesn't need a zillion immunizations.

I love this. As a vet nurse of 30 years (now retired) this is something I have become aware of happening. I always tell people to be very careful what you agree to when going to the vet, after all they are running a business and want to make it profitable.
The up-selling is very lucrative, adding pain meds unnecessarily is a good one. People feel obliged to spend more than necessary.
Yes, question the vet, so many seem to diagnose a rare and unusual condition, code for: this is going to cost you a lot.

My Doxie turned 17yrs old last week, she never was sick since I stopped going to the regular vet. Stopped all vaxxes as well and got a 'no tag' vax exemption as it does affect allergies. I spend lots of time learning and also pay lots of attention to my dogs so i know if things are good or not. Most times things are much simpler than we think, going to the vet will be intrusive tests for nothing most times.
