Halogen vs LED bulbs for my 2008 Honda Ridgeline

- I've been wanting to improve my headlights in my 2008 Gen 1 Honda Ridgeline since moving into the countryside. AISKITS sent me their H4 LED Headlights. In this video I do an installation and comparison between my Halogen bulbs and the LED bulbs.
Unfortunately AISKITS no longer sells these bulbs. Авто/Мото
Light is whiter but the led pattern is not the same as the halogen. too much light scatter up and into oncoming traffic.
Pretty nice demo and I learned how to install LED headlights and a safety measures. Thanks for the video carl
Great job on the video. I just put new headlight lenses on so the LED lights would be another Plus. 248,000 mi on my 2008 Ridgeline and still going strong.
The little Allen key in the bag is to adjust the locking ring around the bulb. Sometimes you need to change where the actual LEDs sit. Maybe right now they are at the 3 and 9 position. Your bulbs may be better if they're at the 5 and 11. Just an example of numbers. It could take some playing around to find the ultimate position. Your driver side looks a little high and scattered.
Love my 2008 Honda Ridgeline almost 200000 miles still going strong I added led bulbs love them
Thank you Karl for the video!
Nice. I have a set of Philips LED bulbs in my 08 Ridgeline. I posted a video that kind of shows them off on my channel as well. They look great and have way better light output then stock or even aftermarket halogens.
Hey Karl thanks for the video. Do you have an update on this? Thanks
You should do a video about how to install a roof led light bar the easy way on your Honda Ridgeline.
I've been thinking about it - I just need to find an led bar I like.
Thanks for the video. I've seen some kits that have a "decoder" kit. It says that it removes the error signal from the dash. Did you have any issues with that on your truck?
I never got any error lights or anything.
what about high beams? Did you try?
Thanks!
Thank you for this. Please provide an update in a couple of weeks. I will be purchasing these once I hear how you like them in a couple weeks.
Any update on these?
Also, just tried to click on your link, and it's no longer active?
@@duckfan7684 strange - seems like the company doesn't have their products on Amazon anymore. I'll try to contact them.
@@EveryotherKarl Do you like the quality of the light? Any concerns about not installing the rubber boots/sleeves? I assume they are not listing them on their website because they are having supply issues.
?
This just made my decision I'm buying these bulbs what's the lumens on them
You forgot to align your new led bulbs in the headlights, you needed to bring yours down a bit and that might also give your more light on the road down the road. Also those dust boots will do more to save your bulbs than harm them, the fan on the bulbs is on the outside of the boot to draw in outside air.
how about heating the head lights in the winter. Will it melt snow/ice off? Please give an update in the future
I'm not sure about snow and ice, I'll have to see once winter comes around. I forgot to include high beams in the video. They were also about 15-20% brighter than the halogen high beams.
Oh and dont forget to adjust your headlights. I have to do mine
Yes, I had to adjust mine slightly.
@@EveryotherKarl i went to try it out last nigt and am suee i blimded everyone
Would these bright lights be difficult for oncoming drivers?
They definitely are a little more blinding than halogen lights.. but LED lights are super common these days, I think people are used to them now.
Yes they are blinding to oncoming drivers. Manufacturer Led housing assemblies are designed differently than halogen. Putting a led or hid bulb in a halogen housing puts you at risk in most states to getting ticketed by police. Its illegal to modify the factory specs of your vehicle. You can work around this rule by installing a projector housing in ur halogen assembly because it provides a cutoff for the beam. Police and other drivers wont notice because it doesn't blind em as you pass by.
I just installed a led headlight set. How did u get the dust boot to work?
It was a little tricky - I unscrewed the plastic ring and then put the boot on the bulb before installing it. There is no way to get the boot over the heat-sync. Ultimately I actually decided to remove the boots because I thought the heat-sync was a little too hot to be right up against the rubber boot.
You could also just put one cut in the boot to allow the heat sink to push through and it will still close up enough to provide protection.
Seems the only difference is the color temperature.. maybe switch to 55w hid
Please clean your battery terminals, there is corrosion on it. At 6:39 where you compare side by side, the led light is like all over the place
Good point. I will do a follow up on this video with some adjustments and further review.
And yes.... I know I need to clean the terminal - I'll do it.
So you left the little rubber boot off?
Yes, left it off and haven't had any trouble.
😊
the coupon code comes up as not valid at amazon checkout?
Sorry, let me get in touch with the manufacturer and see if they gave me the wrong code. I'll post the good code as soon as I have it.
The Amazon link doesn't work.
Great video though.
It seems they're not selling anymore. I'll try to get in touch with the company.
Ur link does not work
I think they stopped selling on Amazon
Beam pattern is not soo gud on those or adjustment idk but nice video otherwise 💯👍🏾
I'm thinking that the LEDs reveal possible design flaws in the Ridgeline housing. Well, not flaws, but patterns that fit the halogens better than the LEDs. I have a 2007 and the guy before me installed LEDs. I currently have them adjusted well below normal height, but people keep flashing their brights at me at night thinking I have mine on. I notice when I'm adjusting the headlights with the LEDs that I don't really have a defined top cut-off line.
@Scott Tooley how did they adjust. I have an 2007 ridgeline
it was 9 minutes too long!
