The best remix of this fabulous rock monument by the late Ritchie Valens. Super stereo, a treat on my HD 555! Of course, we cannot ignore the cover by Triny Lopez, an excellent version in PJ' S in 1963, and that of Los Lobos (from the film La Bamba in 1987). The French version was released in 1961 by Les Chaussettes Noires with Eddy Mitchell among others. Thanks for this new life 66 years later. 😊👍👌
Bought the 45 Donna (covered ofcourse here by Marty Wilde) but it was La Bamba on the B side that was also the attraction. Ritchie did acknowledge that this was an old folk song but for my money no one else has ever done a better version since this (good versions but never better). Earl Palmer on drums and Ritchie played lead guitar which makes the sound. Put on headphones and glorious stereo - great sound Pat and thankyou.
🎧👍👍 The way the guitar climbs up the ladder and then back down is my favourite part of the song. It really stands out now in the middle by itself as does Ritchie's enunciation. So clear and nicely balanced; thank you, Pat. I envy you, Pat; we haven't had any snow here yet in my area in 'snowy' Canada.
@@radiowollaton8521 I saw someone mention, 'sweeping the pavement' here in the comments and it reminded me of something from about five years ago. It might be a wee bit controversial so I wanted to wait for your reply so I could tuck it away from view. After a very big dump of snow, I went out to shovel as I needed to go somewhere later. It was about a three hour job and I quickly noticed that there were lots of people coming and going. I made a mental note and of the people who were obviously forty and over, around 98% of them greeted me. Of the people who were obviously thirty and younger, not one of them greeted me or even looked my way. That was easily out of about fifty people. Something very drastic has changed in our society! It is a real rarity for us NOT to have snow by Christmas.
@@festidious2644 Now I'm envying you Bill. And I know what you mean about younger people. I'm lucky if some of them even make eye contact with me, never mind say hello !
What a tragic fate: Ritchie Valens died in a plane crash with his fellow musicians Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper on 3 February 1959 at the age of 17. The day of the plane crash was sung about by Don McLean in American Pie as "The Day the Music Died". Great remix Pat.
You can really hear the members of the future "Wrecking Crew." Carol Kaye on rhythm guitar, Rene Hall on Danelectro (and featured bridge solo), Earl Palmer on drums and, of course, Ritchie Valens himself on rhythm guitar.
Great job Pat. I was wondering about some of the programs you use. If you don’t mind I would like to ask you a few questions. What is your opinion of Izotopes RX 11 pro software compared to Steinbergs Spectralayers software or others that you recommend that might be good. Do you use IA stem seperation and do you use any AI based systems/software? I have Steinbergs Spectralayers latest edition but Izotope RX 11 Pro intrigues me as they have a few bells and whistles Spectralayers doesn't...not sure they justify the expense though. Any of your thoughts in this would be helpful. Thanks Pat
Hi Tim. Have a read of my homepage, I've put some info on there. I've never used Spectralayers or Izotope so I can't really give you an opinion on those. I've used RipX in the past and now I use UVR5. They both sound the same to me, but UVR5 is free. I don't think you need expensive software to make decent sounding remixes. Audacity is quite capable of matching the sound quality of my remixes.

You're welcome !
Valens was a one hit wonder here in Australia. La Bamba/Donna with Bamba being the 'A' side. Then nothing, zilch, nutting!
Could be because he died in a plane crash 🤔
@@petevaldezbc1 Then why were so many other singles released in America?

Thanks Gerhard. We've had a lot of snow overnight. Unusual for November. It's a winter wonderland here in Nottingham this morning !

I hope you can enjoy the snow and don't have to sweep the pavement too much
Wow…
Amazing!

Is that really Ritchie's voice in the solo section ?
Any chance of getting your mixes without the overdubs? I'd love to hear them.
It's the overdubs that create the stereo effect Martyn. They also improve the dynamics and frequency range of the mix. No overdubs no stereo !
How close is this to the studio sound as intended?
