Neil deGrasse Tyson On “Star Talk,” His Lowest Point, And All Things Deep Space (Full) | NBC News
Finally, someone that lets Neil talk
She's a great host by the way
You are right. Most interviewers interrupt him and try to impose their own egos in. She is doing a great job. Tyson interrupts, who cares, we wanna listen to him not to some random talk show host.
Love Neil deGrasse Tyson. Love to hear him speak! So intelligent.
"The people who succeed are the people who failed mightily because they are ones who figured out how to ascend from those ashes."

Keyword "figured out". You can't succeed just because you've been failing, you have to actually figure out how to improve whatever it is you're failing at. I've been struggling to figure out what I want to do for a long time in my life, nearly everyday, at the end of the day, I feel horribly depressed about how not well my life has been going. But I won't give up, I will persist through everything to make my life better. And anyone out there struggling like me, you can't succeed if you aren't persistence enough so keep fighting.

V C felt very intimate
ahahah I actually went on the comment section to see if someone noticed the insane sexual tension between the two of them.
Neil deGrasse....inspiration to many. Love his conversations.
Neil deGrasse Tyson is a Rockstar!! Intelligence, charisma, humility, honesty, ambition and so many more traits to admire.
Grahame Heatlie In a way he's the perfect sole role model he didn't have in his youth
Grahame Heatlie I like NDT a lot. I’ve listened to his podcasts for years, read his books, have DVD sets with him speaking, watched hundreds of these videos of him online .... that said .... of all of his traits, I’m not sure “humility” is one of them.
@@bcardamone So, basically you're saying he's not humble or modest because that's what humility means.
@@olliegueret2963 That's not what I said at all. Let me clarify, I dig NDT and his work and love listening to him, all I meant to say is that … to me … my perception of him … no one else … is that he does not come across as "humble". If you feel differently ... that's ok. I don't plan to debate my perception of NDT ... so I hope that clarifies.
@@bcardamone Here man, I'm sorry if I misunderstood you. I made a bad assumption. I didn't know you were speaking from your own perception. Live long and prosper.
What an awesome human being, I'd love to meet him and spend the day!!
Patty Estes me too
Patty Estes is A
Thank you for existing Mr. Neil deGrasse Tyson
Even if he talked about paint i would watch it.
LOL
He literally has a video where he talks about water towers and it was still interesting af.
Wow, that 20min went by quickly :) Neil is so into what he's sharing that he really pulls listeners in. Inspiring to hear about some of his struggles, and how he stayed driven to do what he loves regardless of these adversities.
First time I seen him on RUclips back in 2012 I knew straight away he would become more famous and have many fans.
"Don't ever tell me you are constrained by the laws of physics. The laws of physics are liberating!" 09:53
Neil is to science what Hendrix was to music
Grammar is to you as Neil is to religion
@@terrancebutler3138 He didn't spell anything wrong?
He is an Excellent educator!
Such an amazing person to inspire so many out there in the world. I would love to meet him and get his autograph
“I am going to be An Astrophysicist with or without your opinion”....no victim mentality here, that’s the way I raise my kids, love him!
That chemistry tho
that ending was awesome
His laugh is intoxicating.
it's contagious too xD
I am so glad to hear about this. I'm really struggling in school, pursuing my physics degrees. Wish I could ask him more about his graduate school experience.
*Neil Tyson = Auto-Like*
Wow, I loved how you both interacted. A fantastic interview. Great to watch.
that neck sweat tho
saw that too, why cant they open a window for the poor lad
jesus123510 it's because he's sitting next to that hot woman. By being hot she raises the temperature around you. I'd be sweating from the neck too if a hot woman like that was interviewing me.
I don’t mind tho coz that’s how Kat Williams is when he’s doing his thing.
Lol,I thought i was the only one
I just got my daughter an iPhone and the requirements was keep a 4.0 in school and watch Neil Degrasse Tyson
Video Gaming
Not unrealistic at all.
This is my man here!
Tyson earned an AB degree in physics at Harvard College in 1980 and then began his graduate work at the University of Texas at Austin,[20] from which he received an MA degree in astronomy in 1983. By his own account, he did not spend as much time in the research lab as he should have. His professors encouraged him to consider alternate careers and the committee for his doctoral dissertation was dissolved, ending his pursuit of a doctorate from the University of Texas.[21]
Tyson was a lecturer in astronomy at the University of Maryland from 1986 to 1987[22] and in 1988, he was accepted into the astronomy graduate program at Columbia University, where he earned an MPhil degree in astrophysics in 1989, and a PhD degree in astrophysics in 1991[23] under the supervision of Professor R. Michael Rich. Rich obtained funding to support Tyson's doctoral research from NASA and the ARCS foundation[24] enabling Tyson to attend international meetings in Italy, Switzerland, Chile, and South Africa[22] and to hire students to help him with data reduction.[25]
One of the best hosts I have seen. Clearly intelligent, thoughtful and asks open-ended questions and provides a great interview with a dynamic personality. Remember Niel, fusion stops when iron is made (regarding your comment on metal) :-)
Neil could've hit that no doubt !!
I think that's what they meant by "we know each other for a while"...lol
They already smashed based on the face they made when they mention the go way back lol
Don't know why he would though.
Ginrummy25 For an older lady, she's kinda hot, might be just the makeup, idk there's something about her
+Ape man Commeth LOL

Look at his facility with words and sentences.
Spend time around people who know more about stuff than you do.

In the end the people who succeed are the people who failed mightily. They're the ones who figured out how to ascend from those ashes. --Neil deGrasse Tyson
great interview, I've seen a lot of Neil, but I have never heard about this low point he had. That's inspiring!
Oh look, seven people still think the earth is flat :)
Earth IS flat. Who you gonna believe, some scientist or respectable rapper B.O.B.? lol jk
Don't you feel sorry for the people who think science is evil, who think the world is flat, and who believe the cosmos was made in a week, and the first men rode dinosaurs? THINK of all they're depriving themselves of!
Knowledge is not only power; it's FUN. Everyone has areas of ignorance, but that's to the good. The fun of knowledge is in the way it cures ignorance. Sometimes I wish I could read a certain VERY special book again - but for the first time! Does that happen to you?
But just THINK of the deprivation of so many millions who don't even WANT to read books! Trump can't read, or if he can, it isn't much. He's in a perpetual rage, too. Could it be that somehow he has found out what he's been depriving himself of all his life? Naahh. Can you imagine him watching - and appreciating - movies such as "Enemy Mine" or "The Gods Must be Crazy"? You know, tales of how people learn and become entirely comfortable among people who are different?
Isaac Asimov was called "The Great Explainer." Which he certainly was. Then came Carl Sagan, who was superb, but not quite as effective as an explainer, but was thoroughly knowledgeable and good with words. Now we have Neil DeGrasse Tyson, who seems to have the talents of both men (except, of course, that Asimov was a Biochemistry Professor, so he knew a whole lot more on biological subjects than either of the other two. In fact, Asimov made a point of become expert in just about all fields. His books run through the whole Dewey decimal system in the library. In that one regard, he's still the best explainer).
But Mr. DeG Tyson is a welcome, warm stream of sanity and clear thinking. We've lost the other two, but he's a thorough explainer on the cosmos, as good as Asimov was on that subject.
I particularly loved that one bit he called "Brain Droppings."
I sure hope he isn't trying to be a rock star! He's doing what he does best, and we are the beneficiaries of his talents. I'd like to hug him.
I'm learning here that I'm not the only one who listens to his sane, gentle, hate-absent words and his kindly humor, and it washes over my mind like a soothing balm. Being decent isn't just a way to fight fascists. It's also a thing in and of itself, and it feels good to be decent.
It must be hot in that room. He's sweating like crazy
sheep friends because he is lying his assoff. here is a wonderful model of our beautiful electromagnetic , stationary flat earth. get ready for a wonderful globebortion (1) Flat Earth - ABSOLUTE MUST SEE! - RUclips ruclips.net/video/imoL61HYHtQ/видео.html (Share from CM Browser) and how to bring heaven on earth. or it could be because he's a little overweight and is drinking alcohol. He has been saying the same things for so long I dont think hes gonna be nervous now all of a sudden
Probably the bright lights that are on him from the MSNBC camera team.

Stop embarrassing yourself.
Probably the drink he is enjoying, his natural passion, metabolism and lighting.
After that interview they got a room.
Blue Thunder73 plausible
Hes married and has kids
Okay. But. What about her?
Always a delight to watch Neil deGrasse Tyson speak. This is so inspirational, thanks for the upload!
I want give Neil a big ol hug !!
That same idea of writers physics knowledge fascinated me with the weeping angels in doctor who.
Basing a character and a characteristic of them on an amazing principle like the electron experiment was just a smart move.
Respect sir
This man is so inspiring
WHO ELSE SEEN HIM ROLL HIS EYES AT 5:37
I have so much respect for Neil 💛
I love how sensual he is in this interview... yet also so innocent using stars as he's blanket :D
I love his hearty almost childlike laugh. Its very filling for the soul. =D 19:43
Yes!! THAT laugh is infectious (no pun intended)!!🤣🤣
Look at the camera angle on this.
Look how huge the glasses of wine are compared to when they drink.
And their hands are HUGE when moving even slightly toward the camera.
I swear, the stationary wide-angle camera must have been 5 feet from table.
I love the way he described role models. More people need to look at role models that way.
I've heard most of what Neil deGrasse Tyson has said, he doesn't have a gifted intelligence you see from some, but just had the passion for the Universe to just keep at it. Hearing about his failure in College and overcoming and "making it" was something I didn't know but I can see how his passion for the Universe kept him going.
Exocomp I'd say his greatest talent is not his intelligence but rather his almost uncanny way of making whatever he is talking about sound interesting.
The girl doing the narration. Shes amazing
My leg fell asleep just by looking at how he is sitting
She was totally intoxicated by the genius!
Solid Guy.
Muito bem! A beber um Porto Vintage! Congratulations on an excellent choice of wine, Dr. Tyson.
the best roll model, is the one you Frankenstein together.
Kenneth Roberts lol, so I wasn't the only one with the Frankenstein allegory in mind
Drinking our wine are we? :P I got a bottle of Porto with over 50 years old. Has the same age of my mum. My grandfather bought it when she born. I wonder.... ;)
Space wine...
Science, for the poor and the homeless and the Astrophysicist
How did Skeletor become an interviewer ?
Gosh she’s superb! Usually hosts let Neil be the scientist, she’s not. She lets Neil be the inspiring guy.
My hero! I love that book! I read it & in my mind it's his voice lol ✌🏼&💙 Neil
I heard his voice too, but that's because I was listening to the audio book during my commute.
Give the man a fan. a real one
i've been watching neil videos for so long that i can predict what his answer will be for every question
From the Bronx
make a role model a la carte...what great advice : )
Okay so I tried doing the scale factor of a school room globe, the earth, and the ISS to see if 3/8 of an inch was right but I'm getting 9.204*10^-9 inches. Can someone please explain it to me?
Me too Logic!
whats with the weird drifting camera?

14:04 The face that should always be made when listening to Neil speak.
I love ya Neil!!! But, this is taking from drink champs!
Cool glasses.
Loveleyyyy
This was way too short, I can hear him talk for *HOURS!*
bruh. that wine and I are the same age.
She is so into him, lol.
I am too ♥.
It's her job.
19:18 feels like he’s talking to me.
NDT for president
That would be the best thing to happen to science in all of history.
Who else noticed the cameraman's face(s) in the mirror in the background? Lol
He’s sweating, she’s giggling.....I need some of that port
it must’ve been some good one. then ended the interview complementing it lol. both were pretty buzzed it seemed 😝
i see these interviews and seriously think about the meaning of people smelling their fingers. why do people do that? in what situations? what preceeds this almost reflex-like behaviour?
is it to boost self-confidence?
XOX
Kate seemed so interested in whay he was saying. Loved it! Phenomenal interview
Can you guy zoom in even more on them?
NBC camera crew...I see you
The people who succeed are the people who succeed. It just depends on the definition of success. ;)
11:09 that's what I wanted
That’s a beautiful casting couch
Astrophysicist!
Port wine was created by chance. because someone, we do not know who, tried to correct a problem and ended up creating one of the most famous drinks in the world. In fact, it is something very molecular science in this wine. as I know you're curious, find out why.
His lowest point was Katy Parry
Love him, and man, she is really pretty. Awesome interview, fascinating.
I wish they actually wrote their books themselves
2 men on the moon with oxygen tanks attached
Failure is inevitable. Its just a question of when, and on how great a stage. Thats if you have ambition
NDT smashed that back in '92, hence the year of the wine..
I guess not GOT fan, the blue flames were from the Dragon that had been resurrected by the Night King (of the Dead) whose realm is ICE (blue), meaning that dead resurrected Dragon is an 'Ice Dragon'. The live Dragons spout yellow/red flames.
If Westeros exists in the same universe we do, there is only one way for a flame to be blue, which is to be insanely hot. The dragon may be dead or alive, the physics doesnt care.
Seal degrasse tyson 19:42
NDT is the personification of passion. If he cant get you excited about space, you have no pulse lol
And I'm pretty sure she wants to mate with his brain😂
2:02 Kirsten Dunst Teeth..
Port is sugar heavy
So.
Just let your soul glow.
dude is sweating bullets
I dont mean to be off topic here, but what a beautiful woman she is!!!
I just though people might wanna know some physics!
