You were incredibly kind and generous regarding the van owner. Many many signs, obstacles, and instructions to not do what she’d done, and yet continued to do it anyway. You have it a great effort, and I agree that had they been used differently or a long with a shovel, they might’ve been successful.

next time, try backing up using the gotreads. going forward was only going to get you more stuck in this situation. always try to take the shortest distance back to solid ground/traction. also bring a shovel and dig out a "ramp" to lay the gotreads on. reducing the angle the tire has to climb out of makes getting traction/momentum easier. never use a tow strap to yank on a stuck vehicle. as you discovered, it can cause damage to the stuck vehicle but also to the rescue vehicle. if you have to use a tow strap, attach it to the axle or even thru a non driving wheel to pull (not yank) on the vehicle.

It was high centered and they should have not just gone backwards, but they should have folded the treads on themselves to make them double thick to get the central height higher (the center was suspended). The treads did catch on the tires, but since the tires had dug in until the springs were fully unloaded and the center was bearing all the weight the bottom of the treads had no vehicle mass on them, so they spit out backwards. Doubling the width would give them a chance to get the tire lifted up enough to get the center off the dirt so it could move.

Another thing, if you have a automatic try shifting into your low gear not drive, This would help prevent over acceleration.

I’ve used mine a couple times in deep sand and mud with much success. I think that it was driver and user error with the placement plus that mud looked super deep and slippery.

You sound like Bastian narrating the Neverending Story when Artex is sinking in the Swamps of Sadness.

The van driver was on the brakes a few times when getting towed in reverse. Not helpful 😂

My thoughts too! I feel like the van driver was doing everything in his or her power to keep that vehicle thoroughly stuck.

Drop the tire pressure until the tire starts to bulge

they dont know physics using these going forward back up and get inertia backing up the same...watching these people who dont understand physics makes me laugh
