While on our way home from Overland Expo West 2022 in Flagstaff, Arizona, AJ from @Dirt Complex was about to roll over 500,000 miles in his 4th generation Toyota 4runner with the 4.7L V8. This was a momentous occasion and we wanted to make sure we were on dirt when the odometer struck HALF A MILLION MILES!
We actually exited interstate 15 at the Cajon Pass and started driving on some dirt roads. The trail ended up being alot more fun than I had expected and more of this footage will be in an upcoming episode featuring ‪@DirtComplex‬ , but we did come across an obstacle where we put the go treads to use. Truth be told, AJ didn't have any traction boards, and I lost my boards during a snow recovery. Instead of buying another set of traction boards, I wanted something that could also level out my rig. Another truth I need to disclose is that I was too lazy to air down my tires, so ... they were left at 42 PSI. Well, another reason why I didn't air down is for safety. The area we were in has transients walking around, and I didn't want to get caught "slippin" while airing back up.
So, in this episode, Paul from ‪@GoTreads‬ presents the cleverly designed Go Treads traction aids.
This video is not my typical production. The goal is to release a video every day show casing a product so that I could bring the overlanding experience to the people that weren't fortunate to attend.

I've had never really seriously considered GoTreads before...but I gotta say: I LOVE this guy's attitude and style. I love his honesty and he did a great job demonstrating the value proposition.

He’s a really solid guy! Meet him at the Outdoor Adventure Expo in Salt Lake City because we both had the idea to #handdrone

Never heard of these. I like the honesty of this man. Probably works better than my cheap Amazon boards that failed me the first time.

I had never heard of these. It now occurs to me that I’ve been looking at traction boards as much for a status symbol as an actual off road tool. Thanks for this Jon. I can see that I was missing the point entirely.

I like that they don't take up too much space when stowed

If a company makes good product, they can be extremely honest about it and still succeed.
    Good job

I like that they fold neatly and don’t take a lot of space. The roof rack seems to be the only place for regular traction boards.

I agree! Some people mount them on their rear spare tire, but no one will want to grab them for use back there. A flat roof would be the best spot, and I’ve seen some people mount them on top of their rifle boxes. I think I found a spot to mount them on the underbelly.

I’ve got 2 pair. When evaluating these vs the boards, I felt they were more versatile and they pack well 💁🏾

I find that I need a leveler more than a traction board, but since this thing does both, it’s very useful. I still want a dedicated traction board, and I think I found a place to mount them under my Passport.

I've always enjoyed my go treads
Have gotten me out in a pinch

Been seriously thinking about getting a set of these. Currently running a pair of maxtrax for my forester (only cause I won them) but it wouldn't hurt to have another multi use traction aid that I can replace my flimsy looking leveling blocks with.

Having both is a good idea. A traction board will bridge and gap, but the go tread is the only thing that can act as a “step” to clear ledges.

@@JonDZ_Adventuring definitely wouldn't hurt. Wouldn't take up any more space either since I'd replace my leveling blocks with them.

If it didn’t mount to the exterior then I don’t want it!
