Another benefit of this system is that is automatically increases a vehicles ground clearance by a LOT! That alone provides great benefits when going through deep snow.
What an amazing yet fairly simple idea for resolving a lot of issues that residents in isolated or rural areas have to contend with in severe weather. For some in fact just normal heavy seasonal weather can cause all sorts of problems. I really hope this catches on & finds success, not only will it ease the burdens of many people in these types of areas, I can see it literally being a life saver in some instances.
yes I have watched various Doc's on Discovery channel showing how people live in remote areas of Canada , using snow skis to get around, waiting for a train to come on through with supplies, and if the snowski breaks down they are screwed.
Winter is the best part of the year. plenty snow. The first week is funny watching the drivers in ditches because they were in a hurry and forgot you can't drive as fast in snow.
I kind of wish we had easier access to snow here in Australia, it does not snow in our cities or suburbs, but it does snow on our mountains, but it's at least a 1-2 hour drive to the closest place that snows near me, and I have to go around 1am on the coldest nights to see it. Otherwise I have to drive across country to our taller mountains and I can see it anytime during winter.
@@MystikalDawn yeah I could not imagine what it would be like to live in a location blanketed by 2+ feet of snow during winter, that would be a totally alien environment for us Australians.
We just had a snow storm here in Colorado yesterday and I wish I had this when I get the extra money this is the first thing I'm getting no more worrying about getting around in next March storm ever in Colorado when I get one of these bad boys
Would they work all day or just on select camera shots? Will they ice up and cause them not to work? Great idea and I’m sure the do work for some fun but would be wary about using them in an emergency.
our coldest days in the suburbs of Melbourne are like 0 degrees, but really on average 1-2 degrees in dead of winter, so at worst the grass has some frost on it and your car windows are iced up a little, but that's all we have to deal with on our coldest days.
There are tire attachments that add shovels to your tires. Intent is to help get you out of sand. They are very cool looking, and seem to be fairly easy to apply, too. Just for the other end of weather. Personally, I like the trac vehicles better.
Wow those tracks look like if they hit the wrong angle it's going to chew your panels of your vehicle even in the thumb clip you can see that it is extremely close to your panels when you're on flat ground imagine if you hit a log or Rock those tracks with jam up into your vehicle
I can't find price on their website, only a quote form, but articles say they are $25,000k a set, but they seem to be universal fitting, and well made, so they will last a lifetime.
@@WonderWorldYTC thanks for the price info. Too steep for me. I could buy myself an old Tucker snowcat and still have money left for a good set of studded tires. Since I live in Florida, maybe I shouldn’t be too concerned (only kidding)
It's all about ground clearance and surface area of the contact patch between the tire and the road. Conventional tires give you the contact surface area about the size of a CD while this thing turns that into the size of a boogieboard.
@@cowboy2044 They obviously must have come up with some special sollution to this problem, that keeps the tracks fairly clean from snow between the tracks and the tires.
I wonder what type of fender and undercarriage damage will be done from the tracks unless the travel is limited and customized to each vehicle. Just get a snowmobile.
I had a 98 blazer with bfgoodridge all terrain tires (not land terrain) and I couldn't get that thing stuck. I've tried many times and where I live I couldn't get it stuck. I'd recommend those tires to anyone
1. It's super heavy, 357 LB per piece and not easy to load, unload, transfer ...etc. 2. Installation is not that easy and takes at least 10 minutes, this if you do it right from the first time. 3. Price is $$$$ 4. I've watched a video of dismantling and it has a lot of parts, making it uneasy to maintain. 5. It looks that it limits the ability of vehicle to speed. In brief, the concept is great, however it needs a lot of improvement before it becomes reliable.
I see the limiting chains preventing it from hitting the bumpers... But I see nothing that prevents this design from denting the hell out of your running boards and catching on undercarriage components when making sharp turns? Design flaw or can this be explained?
I thought of that also, but no video footage showing it. I doubt they work well, as they are rubber tracks with no spikes, they probably slip and slide like normal rubber tyres.

Snow and sand! Surprising this wasn't military developed. Very slick.
in one of their videos they show fitting these tracks to a military Humvee, so maybe they are interested in using them, not sure.

It also elevates center of gravity and increases the chances to flip on side.
