One of the best composers in quite some time. I could give you a whole set of reasons based in music history and cultural theory ... But thats a dinner conversation , not a RUclips one.
Nah, that opening is written in 3/4, the cello pizzicato line just cycles through a cycle of 27 16th notes so after the first statement it repeats with the quarter notes landing on the “a”s, then the “and”s, then the “e”s, and when it completes this rhythmic cycle for the first time and comes back around to the quarter notes falling on the downbeats, the marimbist playing on the resonators enters. It’s all written in 3/4 though, and you should be feeling the constant quarter note pulse throughout, it’s just syncopated.
Is there any way to contact Andy? I'd love to use this in our school's marching band show next year. I emailed asking for permission and he never responded.
Les artistes enregistrent la musique et la rejouent. Tu peux voir Mariel Roberts fait démarrer l'enregistrement à 8:48 (possiblement d'autres fois). (Désolé si mon français n'est pas bon: j'apprends)
The initial grove is 3 quarter notes, followed by 5 dotted eighths. So one iteration if the grove is 27 sixteenth notes long, one sixteenth note shy of 8 counts. So every time the grove cycles through once, the grove is replayed an additional sixteenth note ahead of the beat
I have no other choice but to make a movie revolving around this beautiful masterpiece.
Playing this piece for my senior recital and am loving every second of it.
what time signature is it in? or is it many?
3/4

👌🎶🎹🏆😇🏆🎹🎶👌
anyone know where I could find the score for this?
also looking for it... if anyone knows where to find pls tell... ill say if i find it tho...
It's available from Andy's website!
Thanks Ian!
I hear some of the sounds from the beginning playing when they are not playing them visually. How did they get so good?
MagicPotato21 their keep them in their thoughts, which get amplified. It’s a really cool new stuff.
There’s a loop pedal/backing track that you record either before you play or at the beginning. Then there is a playback they trigger during the piece

He is on facebook, maybe he'd respond there?
I tried. No response. Even though he accepted my friend request.
Purpleparatroopa might be best to contact the actual company that published it
Hey - the best way to reach Andy is through email, andy@andyakiho.com. Just keep trying him!
Chello and Bass drum with a Pedal Challenge, Check!
The doubling with the reverb pedal is neat.
Interesting
Excellent , mais d'où vient l'autre percussion qui maintient le temps par exemple au début ? d'une boîte à rythme me semble t-il....

Oui c'est un technologie pour rejouent le musique qu'il a déjà joue
What equipment is the cello using for looping that?
what sticks for lack of a better term did he use? the mallets without the yarn?
Hey - they are just mallet shafts (marimba mallets without the heads).
+Ian Rosenbaum so did you just take off the heads or can you buy them like that
I get them direct from Vic Firth - if you get in touch with them, they will sell them to you!
Where can I get the wooden dowels?
Reach out to Vic Firth directly - they sell them!
what the heck time signature is this?
job place 3/4

Opens up in 27/16.
Clearly wanted every mic to deafen us with those two marimba notes JEEzus (don’t get triggered baby)

Anyone have the score please ? I like this music, but $60 for this, I think it's really too much ... :(
It was a good performance but I felt the conflicting rhythms at the beginning took away from the intro. Other than that, I thought it was great.
Man and woman working perfectly together. What's the feminists have to say about this?
He is not white so it's allowed.
Its just music man why do you have to make it an issue
